: Jose Cuervo is not tequila, it is a Mixto, a blend of 51% tequila and 49% sugar-alcohols, fillers, colorings, and other additives. It is the other stuff that can lead to those lousy hangovers if consumed in large quantities. Jose Cuervo is THE REASON tequila has that reputation for being “vomit fuel”. For me, one shot of JC can precipitate a migraine.

I recommend Tequila labeled 100% Blue Agave. My personal favorite is Espolon. Altos, El Jimadore, Milagro, all are very reasonably priced 100% Agave tequilas. Beware of Sausa, it is a mixto and is just as bad as JC, and JC recently updated their labels to include the words “Blue Agave” but they are still headache inducing mixto puke-bait.

I grew up in an alcohol-free den, and when I decided as a young adult to start drinking alcohol, I read everything I could so that I could avoid a lot of pitfalls that novice drinkers fall into. I eventually settled on my favorites, nutty brown pub ales, whiskeys, spirits and fortified wines like port. These tend not to have high sulfite levels like wine does, or sugars and artificial flavorings that will trigger my migraines or hurl receptors. Going over three drinks in any event will give me an instant migraine anyway, so I naturally tend to be a lightweight.

...BACON. Bacon is such a treat! I love eggs and sometimes as a real treat...bacon right next to my eggs...and sourdough toast. But it is the BACON that makes my heart sing...and possibly stop. I've cut back on bacon and have it once every few months...and when I do...yum....baaaccccooonnnn...

1. 2 eggs and 3 rashers of CRISPY STREAKY bacon on white bread.

2. Pancakes with strawberries and real whipped cream

or

3. Home made crumpets with banana, caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream.
