i would just say what the Army would say to you.... Suck it up buttercup ... but we are no longer in the army so I will say I'm glad your surgery went well and keep on the pain meds if the pain gets to high to where you can't stand it then you will start to feel really bad then it will be to late to try and get it under control again I hate taken any meds but I take a handful for breakfast (the breakfast of champions) and then another handful at night .... I dont' really know how or what or when I am supposed to take the meds but I just get a handful of them of all different colors and sizes and shapes and just take them with a glass of Bourbon

oxycodone/Percocet yes it’s an opiate but boy it works for pain. I hate pain meds, I am not allowed anything with NSAIDS example aspirin. because of my weight loss surgery. Oh I know about Afghanistan opiate issue and why it is, what it is as one of the main crops and why. I picked up one of my son’s college books and read it, a few years ago.

: Awe...mummy paw. That makes me feel sad.

Lawn Darts....Jeff Foxworthy says, ”You can kill an elk with a lawn dart. We used to take them out of the box and through ’em straight up into the air. You catch one of those in the head and you’re getting coloring books for the rest of your life...what were they thinking?” Safety regulations now save lives is what I think he means in his act...very funny human though.

: All opiates are good drugs and a powerful tools of healing when prescribed thoughtfully, taken as prescribed, and discontinued on an effective schedule. Opiate abuse is a sad consequence of our society, on par with all other forms of substance abuse. It just seems to be the disease-of-the-week in the media these days.

well in the end my foot will feel better, it’s been bothering since July. So I will have a mummy paw for a few months. I fear prescribed pain meds, so I take as directed. But seriously couldn’t deal this surgery without it. Foot is hurting and I can’t imagine the pain without the medicine.

@ Frieda : Weldon clears his throat and raises his paw sheepishly...

I actually know a little bit about mixology, having served in the Subeta Air Command. It was somewhat of a hobby of mine. I'll be glad to share what I know. Let's start off with my favorite "Tiki" drinks....

Mai Tai Originated at Trader Vic's in Oakland, the Mai Tai is a very popular drink and reminiscent of the Tiki Culture that arose in California during the 30's as humans longed to travel to exotic tropical destinations. The primary alcohol is rum and Curaco .

60 ml Jamaican and Martinique Rums 25 ml Fresh Lime Juice 15 ml Orange Curaçao 15 ml Orgeat 3-4 Crushed Ice Cubes

Everything is shaken and served in a Tiki glass, garnished with a spent lime rind and a sprig of mint.

Pina Colada The history of this drink is disputed, but it became popular in the 1950s and later in the 1970 after the song by Rupert Holmes "The Pina Colada Song"

In a blender blend till smooth: 30 ml (one part) white rum 30 ml (one part) coconut cream 90 ml (3 parts) pineapple juice 1/2 c ice.

Pour into a Poco glass, garnish with a wedge of pineapple and a cherry.

Or...shake the ingredients with ice and serve.

Sloe Gin Fizz

This is one of my favorite mixed drink...

45 ml Sloe gin 30 ml Fresh lemon juice 22 ml Simple syrup Club soda

Add all the ingredients except the club soda into a shaker with ice and shake. Strain into a highball or Collins glass filled with fresh ice. Top with the club soda. Garnish with a lemon half-wheel and cherry.

Singapore Sling

This is my favorite "Tiki" drink of all time.

Because Frieda and I have a home here in Omen Islands, I'm naturally drawn to tropical flavors, hence all the "Tiki" recipes that I have assembled here. The Singapore Sling was originally served at Long Bar in the Raffles hotel in Singapore around the turn of the century.

22 ml Gin 7.5 ml Grand Marnier 7.5 ml Cherry liqueur 7.5 ml Herbal liqueur 30 ml Pineapple juice 15 ml Fresh lime juice 1 dash Bitters Club soda, to top

Add all the ingredients except the club soda into a shaker with ice and shake. Strain into a highball glass, and top with the club soda. Garnish with an orange slice and a cherry.

long island ice tea The Long Island Ice Tea was invented as a contest entry to create a new mixed drink with triple sec in 1972. The inventor worked at the Oak Beach Inn on Long Island, New York at the time. There is no tea in the drink. It has a very high alcohol content of about 22%. It is made with gin!

15 ml Tequila 15 ml Vodka 15 ml White rum 15 ml Triple sec 15 ml Gin 25 ml Lemon juice 30 ml Gomme Syrup 1 dash of Cola flavored soda.

Fill a highball cocktail glass with ice, add all the ingredients except the soda, stir gently then top off with cola. Garnish with a lemon twist and serve with a straw.

In my next post, I'll give some lessons in making some whiskey cocktails that everybody should know how to make....classics like a Manhattan, Rusty Nail, Black Russian, and The Godfather, to name a few.

Yes, I know the Bahama Mama and the Zombie ( appropriate for this past event.... ) Both are very popular Tiki drinks.

Bahama Mama 1/4 ounce coffee liqueur 1/2 ounce dark rum 1/2 ounce coconut liqueur 1/4 ounce 151-proof (high-proof) rum 1/2 ounce fresh lemon juice 4 ounces pineapple juice

Add all ingredients to a shaker and go nuts. Strain in to a Highball glass or Hurricane class with ice. Garnish: strawberry or cherry.

Some recipes call for orange juice and grenadine, but this is the most basic and classic recipe.

The Zombie This drink was invented in the 1930's and is so named because it has a very high alcohol content and will turn you into a zombie.

Ingredients 1 ounce white rum 1 ounce golden rum 1 ounce dark rum 1 ounce apricot brandy 1 ounce pineapple juice 1 ounce papaya juice ½ ounce 151-proof rum Dash of grenadine

Instructions Shake all the ingredients except for the 151-proof rum together in a shaker. Pour the mixture into a glass (this one just calls out for a funky-shaped glass). Pour the 151-proof rum on the top of the drink. You can definitely light your Zombie on fire at this point if you want. Garnish with a cherry, a slice of pineapple, an orange slice, all of the above, or pretty much whatever fruit you feel like.
