I didn't even know that was a thing LOL
[edit]
repeatedly clicked on Lukien in the apothecary shop... didn't work LOL
time.
Random Event Kuuipo moans and groans for a few seconds, but gains 3 points of defense! Sad, I have to leech this gain...

When hundreds of smart people can't figure out the unlock riddle... it probably doesn't make sense xD
it takes time to unlock him ;) we decided TO MAKE EXTRA SURE YOU COULDN'T GET IT IN THE FIRST HOUR OR SO
Ok so it takes time to unlock him?
What on the site takes time that would send (or could) send him into a panic/rage... I wonder if it has anything to do with the gardens? -thinks- Or what else....
Waiting for his shop to restock takes time and lurking around/refreshing for a restock might upset him if he doesn't really enjoy interacting with people. I tried this a bit yesterday (stuck around for two or three restocks and bought a few things) but I might have given up too soon or not refreshed enough to call it a good test...I don't have a lot of patience for restocking. X'D
Time....hmmm....none of the 'time' items seem to fit in my mind (including clocks and watches), then again...I'm tired...so nothing is really clicking at the moment
I was thinking an hourglass item like or might fit, but they all seem too limited-supply or expensive to be feasible. I did try having several items in my inventory while I was stalking his shop, including a and ...but I think it's more likely that unlocking him is literally just supposed to take us a while...
I tried harassing him refreshing the shop by clicking on him on the first day a bunch of times but either it's not that or it's like said, wasn't enough. I'm gonna try the opposite now: just leave the page open (without leaving at all, no switching tabs etc) but even if I'm going in the right track (which I doubt) I feel there needs something else to trigger it, but too many items and bad memory to think of something 😩
Maybe you have to visit his shop at a certain time. I'm not sure of any times that would actually be tied into his story or personality though. And I'm sure a ton of users have visited at nearly all hours by now. I rather doubt that you have to visit him X number of times, because several of us just clicked him a bunch yesterday (and that also seems like something that shouldn't be encouraged? Aren't auto refreshers banned?) Idk, maybe buy x number of items from his shop? I doubt that too cause veteran players who had shopped there tons probably tried buying an item already.
I'm extremely curious as to the reasoning why it's important that we don't figure this out in 24+ hours? In what way does is benefit the userbase that we can't access our new challenger? In what way does it benefit us to solve riddles that have seemingly nothing to do with the character's actual personality or any known information on said character?

Filling empty bottles, flasks and Pitcher at Peka Glade because it is only open 2 hours a day then visiting him but nothing happened. Might be something else needed.

Since the challenger will be unlockable for years to come, a few days of wracking our brains to figure out the solution isn't that long in the grand scheme of things :P Still, it's kind of frustrating in the meantime.
Maybe it's just me, but it seems like making it take a long time is just a matter of "haha we fooled ya!" moreso than anything. But ya I totally get the whole "doesn't matter in the scheme of all things" too. I hiatus a lot and I know I missed two of the challengers and didn't have to worry cause others had figured out how to unlock them long ago. I'm just not into playing the guessing game if it's a context of "how long can we confuse them for?" instead of us being able to come to a reasonable conclusion based on what we know about subeta's characters.
I keep playing Decanter to see if RNG will let me get past 3 levels or whatever. That surely would take time I imagine, trying to get to a certain level only to botch and fail.
Has anyone just tried clicking on his shopkeeper image when refreshing? nvm didn't see above posts. I don't know, maybe he hates being interrupted when making potions.
Do we need to lay a brick down on our F5 key to unlock him?

Just thinking out loud...

Yeah, like, refreshing the shop a lot seems like a logical solution, but I'm not sure they'd do that since it sort of requires behavior they'd rather discourage and would put a lot of strain on the site. Maybe something a little more strategic...such as, say, refreshing at least once during every restock for an hour? And maybe not buying anything during that time, because that would be "wasting his time" hanging out in his shop for no reason?
It could also still involve having something in our inventory or on our HA. Other things I'm lugging around (just in case) are:
I also just added six different camera items (and was already wearing one with the word "photo" in it) to my HA. If he's camera-shy, that's bound to piss him off haha
bonding with minions, growing seeds all take time but I don't see how that would make him mad. You have dailies like job agency and the bathhouse or it could be repeatedly doing something that would make him mad.
no, think more scootle like

Also, that was a joke (the "WE WANT TO MAKE IT TAKE FOREVER" post of mine). We like how creative you guys are with what you try to do to unlock a challenger. This one wasn't actually made to take over a few days because we wanted to stump you, it actually fits in with the lore of the character. :)
"this one's going to take a while for lore reasons"

haha. seriously though, so long as we figure it out before his fear debuts, i don't think i'll mind p: gonna be a lot of battling soon anyway, what with the quest-a-thon challenger and then boppers and then pirates. (oh man oh man widow can try fighting jacques now!! the egg will be mine i hope)
[edit] hey wait, the whatsit. the masquerade mecha didn't have the same loot as last year, how likely is jacques to still drop ? maybe i should just buy it...
Not sure if anyone has checked it out, but here's the post from when the magic box was closed and Lukien took over...
Ah, hello everyone. Greetings are as good a place to start as any, aren't they? But I'm far too busy to linger on them, so let's move right along.
A friend of mine--I'm sure you know him, he's that lad from the Magic Box, always has fairies fluttering about--has decided to up and move to the Vetan mountains. Something about being tired of the hustle and the bustle and wanting to own an adorable cabin. I zoned out after a while, truth be told. So he's gone now, meditating and feeding antlephore and probably searching for new fairies, and the Magic Box has closed its doors.
I was left to deal with all his old stock because I'm such a great friend with so much free time. I've got all the damn boxes sorted, and those of you in need of elixirs and potions can find them at my very own apothecary. The plushies have all been sent to Zuzu, whereas Tobias will handle all the magical toy-like things. Mauve took the clothes, because of course he did, while Rose took any accessories and if you're looking for the weapons, you'd best head over to the Weapons Warehouse.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to get back to brewing my own potions.
