I try not to talk about the migraines or depression/anxiety because I get a lot of there she goes again talking about them. Some family I tell don't believe hoe much it hurts or whatever and they tune me out or ignore if I say I have had one for days, etc. They think I am making excuses or lying.

Last week my son, he had the day off school, and I took a car load of items to be donated. It felt good to donate and felt good to get the stuff out of my house. I am working on clearing out more unused clutter now. It had been a pretty good weekend and the weather getting warmer.

It is so true, unfortunately most people who have not experienced migraines simply cannot fathom the pain or disabling effect chronic migraines can have. Nor can they empathize with or be understanding when they simply think it's a 'bad headache' and you just have a 'low pain tolerance' and 'are just looking for attention' or better yet, 'lying so you don't have to work (be social etc..).' That last one is my favorite. I am truly sorry that you go through something similar to what others, like myself, experience. Please know you are not alone. I know many people with chronic illness or diseases of any kind - especially the invisible/silent types - experience very negative reactions. I am sorry for the lack of empathy, understanding, love, and kindness people have shown you and anyone else who has a chronic or debilitating condition.

Once I was simply asking for a seat/to not have to stand waiting because I was in such severe pain and the employee I was asking looked at me and said, "sorry, unless you have a physical disability I can see then I can't accommodate you." I kid you not, that is what he said. I was s hurt I almost started crying but I did not want to let him win. hugs I hope that you have some people who genuinely believe and try to understand what you are going through. It is nice to have online people but having at least one real life person really does make a difference.

I know that my dad really was hard on me and was completely disbelieving/unsympathetic towards me until one day when he had a migraines. I looked at him and said, see how you are feeling? Now make that multiple times a day and then tell that version of yourself to do things like think, walk around, or get a job. He suddenly got stand for a couple weeks had greater empathy for me. ^^ Maybe trying something like that might work for you.

I just don't get what there is to not believe someone. I used to have a friend that got them regularly, and as bad as the friend annoyed me, I never once doubted her headaches or the pain she was in.

I think it's largely the fault of two things, one, there really are people who will lie and claim to have invisible disabilities and pain they don't actually have; and two, there are people who would like to do that but don't.

The second type is the worst about accusing others of doing that (because they want to). I think they need to realize not everyone even would consider doing such a thing, in fact most people wouldn't.

The first type is rare but gives the second type an excuse to keep on thinking that.

It's very frustrating. It leads to situations like schools giving worse grades for turning things in late than for doing them wrong... even though in a real job that is the opposite of what would really happen, they claim it's to prepare students for the real world, but actually it's them assuming everyone's excuse is a lie.

And as for a business who has their employee treat customers that way, that employee really should be pulled off any customer facing duties till they understand their job better...

(btw I love your HA with the blue skin!) I completely agree with you. I also think there are those who judge you based on what you could do (or what they think you should be able to do) in the past, this is especially true of families and close friends. Illnesses and even disabling conditions can suddenly hit you at any age though, so judging someone off the past is not wise. shakes head

I also know a good portion of people who try to believe you but forget or just simply are ignorant.

I also know that a lot of people fake allergies or sensitivities to foods and make people not believe when there are really people with real allergies (like me). I can't tell you how many times I've been poisoned by a restaurant employee or even a friends or family member simply because they did not believe me about my allergy. It's not fun being sick for 3-5 days post allergic response or going to the ER. :/ So I wish people would just believe. It's easier to just believe and move on about your life than to be skeptical and almost kill someone (or kill them).

It so is no fun. Even if those people thought about it - even if they think there's only a small chance you're telling the truth - why would they risk sending you to the hospital? I really don't comprehend such people.

Is it a game that is for sure. We are watching the show E.R. right now and they brought the same issue up. This guy was smoking on the job and got like 3 guys himself included hurt and he was trying to go for disability but they caught him doing something he wasn't supposed to do

Hi all how are you doing :) hope everyone are healthy and full of energy. Today i decided to experiment with nail stickers:) i do it for the first time but it look very nice. I bought stickers that cowers all nail :) I Decided to buy stickers that look like bubble gum baloons :D
