christmas for me has always been bittersweet. it used to be one of the best times of the year, until i got older and learned how it crushed my parents the first year my sister passed away. it was only a few months after her accident, and had totally ripped any merriment from them.

as i came to understand these emotions from them, i came to appreciate the commercialism less. now, i can safely say that while i appreciate each and every gift i am given, the greatest gift is always the ability to see and spend time with my loved ones.

The night my tank was finally "finished," I sat in front of it in a rocking chair for hours and hours until I fell asleep right in the chair with a smile on my face. :D

Best gift I ever received was a box of 64 crayons, with the sharpener in the back, when I was six. I'll never forget how important and posh I felt with that ^.^ Given idk, I don't make it a habit of stalking people. But the best reaction I can recall is the time I volunteered in a shelter and there was a mom there with her two kids having a hard time of it, so I hooked her up with some jackets. It was just an off the cuff thing, I happened to be taking a bag to Goodwill, so I gave them to her instead because she needed them. She was so grateful it made me feel guilty it was not more deserving such gratitude. For the curious, she is fine now, back on her feet for years, her oldest about to graduate high school.

We saved up enough money and got my mum an iPad Air 2. Woohoo

Similarly as some, I've gotten a plush teddybear when I was 6 or so. Loved him ever since, and he's still around. Given... I don't know. I've just bought my husband a Powerbank Goobay with 10050 mAh, I think he'll put it to good use. :D
