I agree! I&;ll see about making the highlighted item more noticeable.</p>
<p>In the beginning, what it&;s doing now was a lot more acceptable, because items that weren&;t selected were grayed out. I stopped graying them out halfway through to improve visibility, so now there&;s not quite enough contrast between selected and deselected items. I&;ll see about highlighting them somehow, like maybe with a yellow or blue border (that&;s what I&;m thinking)
I dunno, just a though.
Something like this?

I like the idea of colored text. It'd help a bit, since I don't use a lot of scrolls in each battle and the ones that I do use are different colors. (as long as the blue isn't too purple, that is. haha.) And I do 99% of battling on computer, but the colors might help more on mobile? I don't know. It'd be nice, not necessary, but appealing! :D (if that makes sense)
I'm going to end this with saying that I changed the height of that area, so that I see a scroll with just enough text, I know which is which, and each click being a new/next scroll, more or less. (and that I rather liked the just text dropdown from before because I could click into it, click my letter, and it was done. I get that visuals are super important for other users, though!)

And, for people that might want that box larger/smaller, they're named/called .choices-box You can edit the height and change how much you want to see. Example:
Longer. ❤️ And, the sticky-scroll-lock thing that the page does right now will keep that part scrolled down to, if you need/want that with a longer scroll/potions box for selecting many different scrolls because you're a scroll fiend. heh.
Sorry, didn't have time to read all the replies, so maybe it has been said already.
For me, having colored text or colored borders or colored background is no problem. But I'm still young and my eyes work perfectly. My dad is always complaining about colored text or text on colored backgrounds and how difficult it is to read, so I guess many older people or people who otherwise have problems with their eyes would probably hate it if the text would be colored. The images of the scrolls with black text on white background (like it is now) would be much better for them.
Edit: I guess this would be ok for people like my dad:

To add on to what said, you guys can also customize the height of the entire battle interface itself. It's currently set to 650px, but you can make it larger if you'd like (which means the box on the left, with the battle commentary, will show more of it for you). I hope or someone can help write the customCSS though as I don't quite have time to look right now.

I'd appreciate the images of the scrolls being kept. Scroll names can have coloured border around them, if the texts are still black and clearly visible (some scrolls are blue and purple and red, so I'm thinking making them background colours might not work well for some people). If someone doesn't want to rely on images, there can always be CustomCSS solutions to remove the images from that particular box. However, for the visually oriented like me, once the images are officially removed on Subeta's end, there is no way I can add them back with CustomCSS.
I was actually just thinking it might be nice if scrolls got a small revamp to make them more unique. Nothing drastic or time consuming, of course. They could still all use the same lineart for the scroll itself, and probably the same element-based colors they have now (some minor variations wouldn't hurt though). The big change would be that instead of all the water scrolls having the same picture of waves, they'd each get a unique symbol to set them apart, and the same for the other elements. I wonder if that would be do-able?

I like 's idea, because I'm always for more art, even if I don't battle graphically. I do remember staff telling us that each scroll of each type has a call to just the one same image that of its type, and this is why no art change was possible. There would have to be a bunch of new images, and a bunch of new calls.
Sure! I'm never going to claim that this is the best way to do either of these things, but they work. Since battling is in flux and I'm just lazy-edit-garbage, this should be acceptable for playing with (for right now, anyway).
/Ryuu Battle area resize/
-ui-main{height:1500px!important;}
/Ryuu Battle scroll and potion resize/
.choices-box{height:300px!important;}
The '!important' overrides what it's set to. You want to do that. The bits between the slash and asterisk is just notation, you can change it or be rid of it. I put my name in it so you can ask about it, if you edit it and it stops working, I guess? If you're actually around in the 5am of the subeta morning, slowly grinding against jelly and see this. haha. I removed all of my custom css to check out how that looks on the normal site. Man, I don't know how you guys deal with the site like that! Changing size depending on window size? Crazy, man. No wonder you guys don't like the pets getting real small and stuff.
Other than that, edit the numbers, learn a little css, edit more, change the site, change your life~ ❤️
[edit]And, as for colors, I've got color deficiency issues, but it looked like the magma was brown, the fire red, the light is orange/yellow?, and we've got a pale blue wind and a dark blue water that hopefully wouldn't be too close to the purple for dark? Oh, and green plant/earth. From just the icons, fire & magma both look red, and then fire and light also have orange/yellow, but the scrolls have more of a difference. I almost mentioned it before, but I presumed that they'd either be fine or I'd just keep my colors. ;D
I think I like the sound of the smaller images just for scrolls. So long as we still get all the info, that's what's most important! I definitely support making the selected scroll more obvious too - I keep accidentally deselecting mine because I don't notice they're already selected. D:
I'd love to edit my previous post, but I'm fairly upset that the hash was allowed to bother what looks like the whole goddamn battle group when I was not wanting to do that and was using code to post that. Really sorry about that, if that's what I did. :(((
But, I realized that I should have noted HOW one edits the site. Hover Personal tab at the top. Go to Dashboard Click on CustomCSS Assume control of your life, edit the site.
Don't worry, you didn't ping us. c: I'm pretty sure that group's either admin-only or at least member-only. That does need to be fixed though!
Anyway, I'm personally fond of 's idea of collapsing the boxes when they're empty. I literally never use potions, that's 100% wasted space for me. But I can't CSS that box away since it's tagged the same as the scrolls box. (I think? I have like 0 coding experience) I've also wanted to see how they look in landscape.
For the time being, I made the battle text larger (less scrolling now! yay!!!) and made the scroll box larger as well with the CSS provided :D
I love that battlers are getting the chance to add their input. I'm so excited to see what is to come!
With all of the improvements we've seen over the last few years, I keep thinking battling couldn't possibly get any better than it already is, and I keep getting proven wrong. Huge hearts to our "battle staff" for making battling great -- and it keeps gettin' better! ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤
❤ LUV TO YOU ALL! ❤
Great ideas. Whatever you guys decide to go with, I hope scrolls can be stacked. It will save a lot of space.
Something like: Cobalt Eternal x 3 Shriek of Despair x 7
If they can be stacked somehow already though... someone please let me know how. xD
I can live with smaller scrolls images. Go for it! :D

-nevermind, something changed so the code broke :( -
I'd be on board with just having a colored square or even circle with colored text for the scrolls.
Rii can draw! Check out her chibi art shop or her insta!
How about a webcomic about villains stumbling around redemption arcs? Drop by:

id keep the text black and change the color of the background of the selection. Would pop out more without making it difficult to read.

- I prefer the visuals of the scrolls to know what they do. Colors aren't going to help me, if anything hinder me. Just because I can't memorize what the colors mean over what they do. Smaller scroll images are just fine with me :)
