Not getting sick in the first p;lace does seem like sensible advice, does it not? snugs Hope both you and your hubby are back to full power soon.

"the judges had something in mind for the challenge which they didn't get" - no details on what that was? Did everyone miss something we were supposed to do? O.O

For Madi's name, was there actually a clue as to why she prefers that nickname of the three? Or did Steve just guess well?

I am a bit confused about the score for five. I see what seems to be a bonus, but it's weighted like a chapter score, and no actual chapter score for the HAs. I don't disagree that every exemplary HA chosen should get points. But I do feel that weighing it so heavily -- as much or more than some of the toughest puzzles we've encountered! -- seems a bit uneven. There's a lot of players who are not great at HAs, and I think most people do their own, whereas for puzzles, if some folks on your team are no good it doesn't matter so much. It also puts smaller teams at a serious disadvantage.

The way some people spell makes me wonder about their pronunciation. My CW shop, and my ping group

Sometimes, in fact, often, I believe the world of the Squirrel is affected by events in the world outside. While we always have the chronic complainers, who are expected as a natural course, the level of contention goes up considerably when outside events are chaotic. So I regard a lot of what I get as the need to vent in some way about things we dislike but feel powerless to change.

Accusations/suspicions that another team "cheated" are easily solved because, after the first year, when an honest mistake caused an eruption, tasks are designed for clarity. So it was easy to disprove the suspicions for those concerned, since I had hard evidence which I happily produced, and all remained quietly behind the scenes, where it will remain, over and done!

Which leads me to chapter 7, and the judges' explanation below. Before that, however, let me address the questions and concerns on the table.

 1. There were no clues for Madi's nickname, except sort of "profiling" her personality. She runs off whenever it suits her since she's a complete fangirl for the Coppelias, and very similar in many ways to Chester, who is "madcap" when it comes to adventure. To term her a "madcap princess," which she would very much like, seems the most logical, and seven out of nine teams got it right. (I have steadfast, rock hard faith in my players and their abilities to figure out anything, and I've never been let down, so hand-holding is at a minimum.)
 2. As to Chapter 5 (ah, the ongoing ghost that shall haunt these halls for the duration,) I cannot agree that the second challenge, which was clearly listed as such, should have been on a different scoring scale. Both challenges were difficult and rightly two distinct tasks.
 3. If small teams are at such a disadvantage, Shy, why is yours one of the leaders? And why are all the teams so close in scores? Even the Jalapenos, who pride themselves at striving for last place but always first in entertainment for others, are doing very well, while still retaining the amusement crown. (Although Organized Chaos is a contender.)

And the discussion of HAs leads us back to the area of difficulty for Chapter 7, and I will let the judges' explain:

Quote
We received complaints/protests concerning plagarism because the difficulties of the wardrobe caused the originally submitted HAs to be edited. We feel that was a correct call, but it evidently led to teams seeing desirable items on other teams&; entries and incorporating them into their own final products. We also were informed this has been happening on an ongoing individual basis.

Now, this is a two-fold decision. As to a whole team "borrowing" items from another whole team, we agree that&;s too much, so we&;re mentally removing the items in dispute from the later submissions, and scoring those as if the items did not appear.

As to the individual complaints, well, this is not so easy, because it requires more evidence that it is actually "grabbing," and not "inspiration by association/observation." Over the years, we have seen amazing growth in "fashion dollmaking" from many players, and they could well have been inspired by the master makers who are also players. This is much more inspiration and emulation than it is plagarism, and we do not find enough clear evidence that anything more occurred. "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery" seems to apply here. If you disgruntled Masters of Making want some tips: up your game, take more risks, tweak more details, polish to a deeper shine. From what we&;ve seen, you are more than capable of that.

With this settled to our satisfaction, scoring will be done soon. smile

wow I had no idea anyone was even saying things like plagiarism for HAs. Is it bad that I just work with my team---post and go look at the end of the last day with little thoughts to anything else.

And there are many more "yous" than the others. You are all loved!

Good and safe venue for them to vent overall, though, and it's sometimes needed, and it was something the judges, as well as myself, needed to solve fairly.

Oh lol I can't wait for the ecplise to be overwith. You have no idea the drama. We live about 3 hours away from a full 2 minute viewing of the full eclipse. It happens to also be dad's bday and lord, we have been Back and forth about driving 3 hours away, sitting at a campsite for 8hours to watch two minutes of the eclipse. Now we, instead, get to go to their church play on the radios (my family is all licensed to use Ham radios), try to contact people and then near the eclipse go outside in 100 degree heat and view. Can you tell I am a total fan of this? LOL I am so, er opting out haha.

OOh please! And you chose well in beverages xD

Thanks ! We get about 94% of the eclipse here or can drive 4 hours and get 100%.... I'm perfectly happy with the 94% and just plan on taking a picture for my son who is in Europe at the moment.

Guess I better get back to sleep.. woke up in the middle of the night and HAD to check on Subeta! Have a good night/day and save some of that popcorn!

Silver Legends totally apologized Season 1 after posting the answer in our role play. :)

Also if ever comes into a question of how Jalapenos do stuff we would gladly let any judge or you a look into our private board area.

And who is trying to be in back of pack with us? Don't make me push Tea_roll down something. She just climbed back up from the last one.

: I have never had such a nicer compliment for our team, I am weeping for joy. ( sniff )

: Apparently, the Organized Chaos are merely nearly as amusing as the Jalapenos are. Which is totally strange because we are made up of almost half of the former Silver Legends, Jalapano Nutsy Thingies.... and Tea_Roll is on an endless loop.... Perhaps you should threaten to post ponies.
