Merlin smiled and felt accomplished with his duties. "Most professors won't mind them, but for example the divination professor we had didn't liked them in class, I'm not sure about the new one. I guess everyone got used to not bringing them."

Chars mouth was open slightly at the comment on the Merpeople but she kept her thoughts to herself. "thank you, I appreciate all your help." she then nodded to Lee and made her way to the girls common room to settle in

Lee nodded. "Thank you for your time, you have been most helpful. I think I will go and see the dorm room, and get settled in, then take Kodi for a walk. Nice meeting you both. "

"No you can't see them from the window, it's not real. In fact we are in the dungeons, our windows are fake. " Then Merlin grinned after her question about brioms and bathrooms. "Yes of course there is a reason for the rule, it is a legendary Slytherin tale about our Quidditch team winning the cup many years back and the team was so excited that all of them flew inside the castle celebrating and casting confetti spells that made the house elf clean confetti from every corner for days because they keep appearing in the least expected places, some say even in Dumbledore's beard. The thing is, it was fmade a rule frim that day on not to fly inside the castle, and not because of the confetti but because they caused lots of troubles, fights, and falls. Too bad I couldn't see that, surely was cool."

Then Merlin couldn't resist to ask. "Lottie, do you mind if I..." He didn't knew if it was bad to ask. "I don't mean to offend you or act like a pervert, but..can I touch your tail? It looks so soft!" He then blushed because it sounded really bad for sure.

Lottie listened intently a little unsure if he was being serious our not...but she nodded none the less...at the very least it was a comfort to know the windows would hold. "If they were an illusion...I think I would have kept the merpeople in..." she smiled. Her ears perked at his question. "Oh! sure! though you might smell like sweets afterward!" she flicked the long tail forward. "Guess Im lucky my diet and environment is a bit different...the animal I take after usually smells like movie butter popcorn!" she was used to people liking the smell and being curious...it was nice it was more positive attention then negative...as she has gotten both. "Used to drive the girls crazy at school...they sucked on sugar quills all through class...my family and myself have mostly gotten used to it...though some of the younglings still like to shove there faces in my hair and inhale good and deep!" she chuckled.

Merlin was happy, he didn't mind smelling sweet if he could touch the tail. "Smelling sweet is way better than smelling like a sweaty human." Merlin cautiously reach out for the fluffy tail and touched it a bit shyly. "What animal you take after? I'm not sure, you look like a mixture, but your tail sure is soft and majestic!" He sniffed the air. "And it really smells like candy."

Charlotte could help it...she wound her tail gently around his arm so he could see it was prehensile. She chuckled. "Aww yous so kind! I never knows how people are going to react. I take after a binturong....I's can change into one as well. Kids at my home...theys even gave me a pet name.." she chuckles and shrugs a bit shy. "Id love to know about yous village sometime..if you can talk about it...havent traveled much!"

Merlin was surprised when the tail curled around his arm. "Wow, like my snake! Hope Thunder won't get jealous." He laughed softly. "I have never seen a binturong, cept in books. Must be fascinating to turn into one. Is it by magic, like an animagi transformation?" Merlin nods. "I can't talk much, just a bit and to be honest I don't even know how to get there, but I haven't traveled much myself, just from my village to Hogwarts I'm afraid." He decided to clarify. "I always get picked by my mother or anyone from the village who can actually go outside and inside. It is very restricted...traveling I mean."

Charlotte smiled. "You's has a snake? Is that normal here? at my old school..there wasnt much reptiles...though as I said...all girls! Well..." she thought for a moment. "Honestly...its my species...the animal thing. I's a faerie. A nature one...I's lived with the Nomag at first...but...well somethin bad happened and it caused me ta shift early." she nods. "I's honestly didnt know what I was! I mean...when I turned to a animal the first time. I's wasnt taught about it at school. Just ya know..lions, tigers, bears...the common favorites." she nods. "When I's learned how to shift back...I's had my features...I's can hid them...so I can be around the Nomag's...but at school its nice to get to be myself." She smiled and listened to his explanation of his village.

"Wow...must be super special to be so secret! I's like to learn about new things...and sometimes collect little "treasures" so I will always remember them. " she shrug sheepishly. "Sometimes I's think Im part magpie!" she chuckled.

"But ya...ummm yous guys might catch me using my tail from time to time...comes in handy and a exra limb." she stopped realizing she made a pun. "HA! handy!" she chuckled.

Merlin smiled and nods vigorously. "Ah, yes I have a snake and even girls have snakes, that is not a gender thing. I mean, yes maybe girls may like them less but they can still like them." Merlin pulled his wand from his pocket. "Meet Thunder, my snake. He loves to squeeze my wand or my arm." Merlin wasn't sure if he understood all Charlotte said but still enjoyed listening to her. "It must be fascinating to be such a magical being." Merlin put his hand in one pocket and took out a rock. "Here, you can keep this, I found it..well outside, it has magical properties for protection. You can attach it to an amulet or a necklace, so you always remember Hogwarts." Having an extra limb sounded quite helpful indeed. "You are lucky you can have the extra help then. I will now let you go rest, it is already late and there is much work to do tomorrow." Merlin walked away and waved to the new girl who looked like she wanted to keep talking.

Lottie leaned to look at the snake. "Hi little critter!" she smiled at it. "He looks tricksy." she said looking up. "actually it wasnt that they couldnt have the snakes...just...didnt seem to interest them as much as an owl or a cat. I's like all animals though." She looked surprised and grateful at the gift. "Thank you, that is so kind!" she looked at the rock and listened to his explanation and nodded. "It will be most useful then! You's definitely right...I's should get settled..and get some sleep. It always seems like such long trips, getting back and forth..even though its quick. Maybe its all the events...well..have a good night!" She gave a wave and made her way to the dorm area.

Deep in the bowels of hell, a monster stirred. (or you know, Ariette finally stopped meditating in her deep and dark corner of the common room, whichever you prefer) The new students were loud... and inquisitive... and.. happy? wait why did it smell so strongly of candy?? why was everybody so happy this early in the morning.... oh wait Darn, her sense of smell was getting assaulted and it was giving her a headache from the influx of happy emotions it brought. More meditating it is. She sent a fervent prayer to whichever gods were listening that the new student wasn't a second year but knowing her luck ... well :)

Eirik had been absent for a few days but as the two weren't exactly close, it didn't seem to register to Ariette that she should ask about his disappearance, putting it down to circumstantial luck that they haven't had any encounters. Little did she know that Eirik had left hogwarts... I'm sure she'd find out (eventually, at graduation, probably)

When Merlin's snake began hissing --- purring? (can snakes even purr), Erus perked up and tried to slither away. An Ariette in no mood to deal with his antics sent a soft stupefy towards her familiar and tucked him into her voluminous pockets. No doubt Erus would be majorly pissed off when she eventually got around to enervating him but she was willing to sacrifice many sausages to bribing him into happiness.

(((OOC: as i'll be very inactive in RP, i figure this is a good enough reason for Ariette not to be popping up. Her senses just can't deal with the constant scent of candy properly so she'll probably spend most of her time meditating or staying away from the source of the smell))))

(ooc actually its a great post for the reason of not being around to rp :) Now we will just have to wonder about the girl meditating in the corner of the common room...is she real..? a really nice statue..? should I poke it and see if its real..? LOL ))

A fairly short girl enters the common room for the first time. Wrapped in both of her arms against her chest is a small collection of books which she continues to carry as she looks around. She takes in everything one detail at a time with an expression of calm awe, her grey eyes hardly seeming to blink. She steps gingerly over a snake without even looking down. The soft green light of the windows, the serpentine wall sconces, and the lifelike statue in the corner particularly draw her interest. "Maybe I should sketch her one day...." she whispers to herself before turning back to the room. Finally putting her books down on a small table she plops herself in front of the fire, skipping the couch and instead choosing the floor. She looks around waiting for others to arrive and sniffs the air. "Sugar? ...Oh!" Suddenly reminded, she pulls a box of chocolate cauldrons (one of her favorites) out of the largest pocket of her robes and places it on the couch behind her. She opens the lid and props it up so the candy appears more inviting and smiles. Mother always said that sweets make a good first impression.

"Would anyone care for a snack? I'm Poppy Blackwood, the other prefect," she smiled around the room.

Has been sitting reading two books, one on her lap and one on the floor, with her wand sticking sideways from her mouth. Looks up at Poppy. "mice-a-mee-oo" Pulls wand out and tries again. "Nice to meet you Poppy. I'm Lenore." Walks to table and looks at the array of goodies before selecting a raspberry whoopie pie. "Thanks! There are some chocolate cauldrons over there too. Be careful, they're full of fire whiskey."

Charlotte wandered in stretching her arms over her head, her tail following in suit then curling back into a question mark, the smell of fruity sweets followed her. At her heels was her puppy, Cricket, a black mini Schnauzer and chasing after him her avian creation, a female kiwi bird named Tutti Fruiti, Toots for short.

She looked around the common room, Her nose had caught the sweets of course, however there were a lot of people she didnt know. 'Was that female looking statue always in that corner?' the thought. She had come to realize how awkward she felt without Lee about. She scanned the room looking for him. She wanted to approach the table...but not alone. 'Damn those sweets smelled good.' she thought.

Thursday 2/23 late to Friday 2/24

Lee was sitting on his bed in the dorm room. It had been a long first week already. 'One more day,' he thought as he pet his two chickens. Day and Mira were getting along well, and had already spent some time in private.

His ears caught the phrase 'they are filled with firewhiskey' and he got up, heading out into the common room, his dog Kodi following at his heels. He saw two girls there he didn't know. He looked up as he saw Charlotte enter the room, and gave her a smile. Then he turned to the two girls.

"Hello, " he said quietly, "I'm Lee. Did someone mention....firewhiskey..?"
