Love your story! Thank you, i hate crickets too. Once i awoke in the morning to find a cricket in my bed. I screamed and jumped straight out of bed, this made everyone in my household laugh hysterically ..... LOL
Miss you my dear sweet sister Lena ❤ Miss you my dear Subeta sister Georgie ❤
122 days in a row! You found 3 Recycle Beast Points Same as yesterday I think. Weird.
Cool! Thanks. I prefer crickets to cockroaches, but both of those to scorpions! Many times I have found bugs and wanted to put them in acrylic as a pretend ice-cube, but never in a real one! That is hilarious!
Thanks. :D

Are you a grandmother yet?
OK, so this is a true story...no I'm not making this up...so, listen here you.
My author Mark and his mate Francine had planned a wedding for Aug 21 back in 1977. However, they were desperately poor and despite their plans to keep the wedding simple, the cost was going to be beyond their earning capacity. Francine was going to sit for her State Nursing Boards right after Independence Day and Mark's parents had invited the young couple to celebrate the end of her boards with a weekend camping trip up at Wrights Lake, near Tahoe.
Mark and Francine decided to take a day trip to Lake Tahoe the day after they had arrived at camp and set out for D.L. Bliss State Park, where Mark had visited on many occasions before. However, it was not a fun day, tensions were very high for some reason and Mark and Francine had an epic fight. The resolution? They decided to get married the next day, the last day of the camping trip.
Without telling his parents what they were going to do, they got up, got cleaned up ( no showers, just cold tap water in camp. ) packed their bags and headed to Reno to get a marriage license. They stopped at a small shopping center to buy a white dress for Francine and headed back to Zepher Cove Nevada for their appointment at the wedding chapel.
It was a short service, the minister played the wedding march on a record player under the podium, the neon candles flickered romantically, Francine clutched her Bible because she didn't have a bouquet of flowers and Mark said I Do at the right time.
There was no reception, the young married couple celebrated with a spaghetti dinner at Bob's Big Boy in Bijou, then headed back to Lodi.
They arrived near midnight at Mark's home ( he and his family lived with grandma at the time ) and were anxious to be married. Unfortunately, Mark's bed was in the room where his two younger brothers slept. Francine had been given the living room sofa to sleep on and so there was nothing for it. They would spend their honeymoon on the sofa in grandma's house.
Except that, Mark's mother gets up two or three times a night....
Grandma gets up two or three times a night to re-lock the front door....
Neighborhood cats use grandma's front porch to fight all night....
Mark's younger brother works the swing shift and comes home at 2:00 AM....
Francine had to get up at 4:30 AM to drive back to Merced to start her morning shift at Merced Hospital. Needless to say, a honeymoon would have to wait. Mark went to his own room and fell asleep exhausted after he kissed Francine goodbye and she drove off to work.
At 7:30 AM, Mark was dragged out of bed by his irate parents. "Did you get MARRIED yesterday?" His father demanded. "Yes." Mark replied. "What will our friends think?" His mother cried.
After the shock died down, Mark's parents were quite helpful, arranged to help him move to Merced two days later and arranged for the newly married couple to have a very nice wedding reception in Lodi and in Los Banos where Francine's parents lived, so there were no real hard feelings. ( the wedding reception was on Aug 21 )
Years later, Mark was recalling this story for his parents and he asked his mother, "Were you really upset that we got married?" "No." she replied tersely "It's just that if you had told us when you came home, we would have put you out in the camper so that you could have a little privacy." she laughed. "Grandma gets up at least 6 times a night to re lock the front door and sometimes falls asleep on the sofa."
So, Happy 40th Anniversary to my Author's Mark an Francine.
