is there anything you can cover the seedlings with, to stop them from betting eaten? We put some bright red netting in front of the strawberry plants in the garden last year, to try and stop the squirrels and badgers from eating the fruit (for some reason, they avoid the red) ;) That's another great HA today! The bluey purples go really well with the plain jacket :D

I think that did the trick - they're forecasting dry warmer weather near the end of next week ;) Just as long as it doesn't make the grass grow too quickly though! :P

Whoa, those sound delicious! :D Lots of baking sounds good, but not when everything seems really overwhelming - I guess the baking can help to kind of switch off everything else that's in your head sometimes? Not too bad - my Grandad's been in hospital for the last 3 (possibly 4?) weeks after being taking in as an emergency, but he's doing much better now and is due to go back home today :D Hopefully once he's settled in back at home, everything will calm down a little and we can get back to an element of 'normal' ;)

laughs I wasn't intentionally going for a Willy Wonka look, but I think it's the cane that does it ;) Paul seems to be having fun with that rampaging dragon in the background today :P

thanks :) He was discharged this morning, so he's back home now :) At the moment though, he's not in a good mood as he isn't able to do the things he was lead to believe he could (despite being assessed as "too good" for using a walking frame, and also "too good" to be allowed to the community hospital rather than straight home, he's banned from doing the stairs unaided and at the moment is not even allowed to get out of his armchair without help until they at least get a booster cushion for him as that chair is "comfortably saggy"). Thanks :D I was trying to search the wardrobe for "picnic" but I got as far as "pic" and the showed up laughs I don't think I've ever used this one before ;) I love the grey look - those wings set it off perfectly :D

That's a good idea, maybe we can put some screen over the seedlings until they get big enough that the squirrels will leave them alone. I understand the plight of the soft-comfortably smoochy couch/arm chair. I fractured a disk in my lower spine and cannot sit on anything comfortably saggy at all. Did the hospital teach you how to help your granddad out of the chair so not to strain his arms/wrists/back? I had to learn how to gently lift an elderly from fluffy chairs when my grandparents became more aged and required assistance.

And thanks for the compliment about my HA I am currently thinking of changing, playing in the wardrobe now. I just made some almond vanilla pound cake for my family because my mom bought a truck load (not literally) of strawberries.

hehe as long as I can get down there on Sunday to chop the grass off again, it should be ok.... I hope! I've got some white strawberry plants ordered, which will be interesting once they arrive & grow fruits, as apparently those taste like pineapple mixed with strawberries o.O ;)

They are a bit funky compared to what I'd normally go with, so I'm not surprised that you skimmed right past them :P I'm already looking forward to Vesnali.... even though it means scrabbling round for extra flowers for Floriculture's tc as well laughs I love the vulture - that works amazingly well with the background and skulls! :D

hopefully it wasn't too pricey! ;) Ouch that sounds mega painful :K They gave Grandad a booster cushion yesterday afternoon - of course that made the chair a lot more firm so he's not overly happy with that either! They didn't seem to want anyone to give him a hand (they're all for him being able to do things unaided where possible), so the only thing they did ask for, was for Mum to lend a hand when they assessed him on the stairs, as he wasn't as good as the physio thought he would be (and the physio was understandable concerned that he might topple backwards, given that he was trying to do the stairs too quickly!). To be honest though, I don't know that I'd want the responsibility of helping him, just in case he did fall! 😊 Eventually though they want to get him back to being able to walk to the corner shop (that's what he was doing about 10 weeks ago, without a stick or a walking frame), so I think there'll be a lot of intense physiotherapy once he builds back some confidence indoors!

[edit] When we have any food waste to go out for the rubbish, we have to put it in a separate bin which has a lockable lid (literally it just clips shut) - it's meant to be animal proof as we get a lot of foxes, badgers and seagulls ripping open the black bin bags if there's food stuff put in those. We had some meat and half a lemon in a tied bag in that bin.... last night, a fox came, tipped the bin over, managed to open the clipped-locked lid, took the meat out (left the lemon!), and presumably took it back for its cubs! I figured that fox had earnt the meat though, having worked out how to open those supposedly animal proof locks laughs

Beagle gave me a start. Took the dog out to the loo--feed the foster cats, only a this beagle comes out of the brush. Told it to get and amelia was growling and straining to get to the dog. It ran off and I locked our back garden. I don't want it there for several reasons but one is the foster cats, two are the plants like the strawberry bushes.

Been a crazy evening what with that dog and the tornado watch--had to spend 20 mins in the hallway. I got two of the cats and my dog into the bathroom but Lucy went bersek and scratched up my foot so had to keep her in the hall.

my head is suddenly itchy but I don't wanna go into my bathroom cos there's a beetle in it
