I was pretty lucky these last 25 years. my 2 best dogs passed when i was away from home. (poor hub and the boy had to take care of them)

but then, , we got Freya's "Aunt" (freya is our dog now, a Very Fat Pom) omg. i LOVED her at first site. she was "Fairy" just a tiny thing, really blonde. but she had lived all her life out in the "Pen" and never taken to the vets for stuff. we had her less than 6 hrs, and she passed away. :( my husband says she was just so excited her heart gave out on her. :( but it broke my heart. especially since it was 'love at first site'

since then, i've been kind of hard hearted.

grin. even though, i was looking at pet adoptions, found an 'elderly' (about 7/6 years old) italian greyhound. (that's one of those really small, about knee height, skinny dogs) any way. a "friend" for freya. but she was on a greyhound site and the man refused to go and even look at her.

I told him it's ok. that those kind of dogs are "runners" she'd see a rabbit out back, and she'd be gone.

we're planning on putting up a fence, have the stuff for it and all, but it's the TIME that's holding up the whole thing. even though, now that summer is here, and we've decided we're going to be staying, the fence WILL go up. because.... i DO nag :D

and yah. i oppose wearing fur, except for mink. cause they're grown in farms and the meat is also used in other things. i'm not surprised about the chinchilla's being retarded. still feel sorry for them. but still. if i had to move up there next to i would NEED a REAL fur coat! (or cashmere) lol

nagging is key ;) yeah i dont wear fur either bc 1. expensive 2. pretty cruel :/ i can understand animals we eat as fur, thats different.

yah. . especially growing up around my grandparents. they 'instilled" a "veggie loving atittude"

I've had a rabbit and hamster as a kid and they were fun, but we moved around a lot since dad was in the military and couldn't take them with us. Now, it's only Emma and we want to get another dog, but it may be awhile before we do. When it comes Emma's time to go, I'm going to be devastated and probably hole myself up in the house and not talk to anyone for awhile. I start tearing up anytime I think about it!

I talk to myself and then I'll ask my dog what she thinks hehe.

i know that's one of the reasons that we got freya. my sweetie Daisy had passed, she used to lay right next to me, when i read. when she passed, i could hardly read a book (I KNOW! ME! NOT READ?!) because there was a "hole" in the spot she used to be. (she was a small dog also. mixed)

for some reason. even though i would miss the freya, i don't feel as "invested" emotionally with her. she's more of a "daddy's girl" (even though he doesn't love her like i do)

and yah. getting another pet now, would help with the passing. at least, it seems that way to me. it doesnt "REPLACE" the pet that's passed, but at the same time, you're not as devastated.

and for some reason, I think of grin. maybe because i saw her picture this morning. grin. I see her, and SHE MAKES ME SMILE!

LOL i think i'm going to go to her FB site every morning, and just look at her CUTE LITTLE FACE.

(and she probably wants to SLAP My 'cute little face' in return for calling her CUTE. hahahaaaa)

I'll be a mess, that's for sure. I've cried over my hamster that passed when I was a kid, but it's not the same as with a dog. Dogs care too much, hamsters are like "whatever" LOL.
