Paleontology and Geology are fantastic areas of study. ^^

It may take your Raydon a bit longer than others to make more friends, but I'm sure he will get there. He is bright, dedicated, and I'm sure he has a sweet side that is usually only seen by his family. He has you, his father and his siblings. <3 I didn't really make friends in the 6th grade, so I do understand his plight a bit. They did a sort of "clique" thing then, or at least it felt like they did to me because most of the people I knew from elementary school either went to a different middle school or were in different sections and therefore had different teachers. Everyone in MY classes already knew each other, as they all came from the same school. There were maybe 2 kids that were nice to me, but they weren't my friends in the case that we necessarily hung out with each other much. SO....let's just say that it was downright torture for me when the teacher decided that the students had to have partners or be in groups for one thing or another, and most of them decided "Hey, let's continue to pick on her and say crap about her constantly, as well as act as if she has the bloody plague." .............Being 11 wasn't fun for me, either. XP While our situations are different, I know your Lad shall get through this <3

I had alot of trouble making friends as a kid too. I was such a tomboy the other girls were vicious and incredibly mean to me. What friends I did have were all boys til high school then they didn't want to be just friends. So I was kind of a lone wolf. I kept busy doing my studies and alot of extracurricular activities, band, choir, show choir, academic team, ffa, bpa, key club, speech and debate... you name it I was in it. Raydon doesn't even want to be a part of anything like that... he said he "might" try band next year if he can be a percussionist like I was.

Id love to chat more but I'm not feeling well, went to the urgent care and I have the flu, I just can't catch a break.

That is a really good strategy and yes, even subtle variations in routine can be very upsetting for them, I used to work with adults with developmental disabilities and had a gent with autism, Eric was a headbanger, it didn't happen often but it was usually triggered by variations in scheule. I know this sounds kind of institutional, but do you have to do given meals on certain days or is he okay with that sort of thing

That is odd that he has to be cued to make his bed or load the dishwasher, its not only routine, but its Order and they do very well if things are in order. I used to work with someone who would fixate on people so to distract him you open every cabinent and drawer in the kitchen, he would come running to close them all, but you know what, if you meet one person with Autism, you've met one person with Autism

mainly the boy gets sidetracked in his own little world which then causes him to "forget" about his daily duties. It's very difficult when he has to actually be reminded to make his bed and how to make his bed properly and his little brother who is 8 will be zooming through the whole house cleaning up a storm without me even asking. I have to admit I get very frustrated with Raydon. I know every child is different but sometimes I think he is just being lazy and trying to get out of things so he doesn't have to break away from either reading a book or playing a pokemon game. He wants to do what interests him and nothing else. Evin gets very mad at how his brother makes a mess and then just leaves it, he is constantly reminding Raydon that it makes things hard on me when I have to pick up after him, Blake, and Andi. He tells him to be the big brother and act right. Evin is so protective of me and how I feel. Like right now I'm sick as a dog and he is sleeping on the couch just in case I "need" him. I've seen the boy do the same for his siblings. Raydon doesn't understand why Evin cares about how everyone else in the house feels. I have more problems between the two of them than anything else. It's a constant battle. They are different as night and day. Evin has so much compassion and empathy, it's like what Raydon should have went to evin and Ray has 0. Their counselor recently diagnosed evin with severe separation anxiety and believe he obsesses over making others happy.... namely me. He tried to compensate for how Raydon behaves. My poor kids. Sometimes I feel like I must be failing as a parent.

While you can't actually teach Empathy, the person can be taught to think "If I was really sick, I know I'd appreciate someone stepping up to the plate and cleaning up after themselves rather than leaving it for someone else" That he's playing you is a possibility since they thrive with routine and order, but you can turn it around with a little reverse Psychogy. Let's say his Paleantology team discovered a whole Velociraptor fossil in NM, they're digging, brushing but it gets too dark to work, would he just leave the site and the very expensive equiptment they're using to be exposed to windstorms? Of course not, they'd tarp the fossil and put away the equiptment
