Perry got me a very pretty coke-bottle magnifying glass, it has beautiful balance and is very Sherlock Holmes. It's very striking so I am not likely to lose it or forget where it is like I do with the utilitarian one I already have, and it too is tolerant of being sat-upon accidentally.

We've just had a series of three medium to large earthquakes, the latest at 1:15 AM here in the foothills of Central California. Weldon says that the all three were from Hawthorn Nevada, about 100 miles to the north-east of us. He says that they were all between 5.6 to 5.7 magnitude. The teacups rattled on the hooks and you could hear the low sound waves of the earth moving. there was a lot of shaking and I found my heart racing.

working in social worker position you're never really off.

I am usually on call duty if I am off. Last night (around 11 p.m.) I got a call that one of my senior citizens lay dying. One of my jobs is to be there, So I wnet over, stayed until 7.00 a.m. got back home took a shower and started my daily work at 9 a.m.

I only work there half time (menaing 4 hours a day or 20 hours a week) and those night shifts are so tiring.

I always have to many hours XD

so I am glad that I have 4 days off (without call duty)

I do not work in my degree (Teacher) because of after work call duty! I am a teacher's assistant, make MUCH less money and am much happier with this job. No after work phone calls, no report cards, no night-time parent-teacher meetings, no homework checking.... So many extra things I don't have to do. My heart goes out to you for your extra hours and the work that is sometimes so hard. hugs

I love my job and I still think it is an honor to be there if someone leaves this world. Since I think that there's a lot of trust involved if you let someone be with you and then let go.

But at the end of a year I am usually tired.

PLus this your I had a lot of health issues myself and still do not feel totally recovered - even though it's more the thoughts then the something other.

And the kids grow older and are not as cute and my hubby has soecial issues with his exwife (who is the mother of his kids that live with us)

So I can't wait to get those 4 days - take my hubby, hand the stupid ex wife her kids and just ahve some time with him alone XD

We are hard-wired to believe that the earth's surface is solid and unmovable, and when it does move, our sub consciousness minds freak out a little and cause our hearts to beat a little faster...fight or flight mode....Yes, we are all OK. I'm a little science nerd and so I did some research...apparently Hawthorn Nevada has had quite a swarm of earthquakes over the last several months and is apparently in a geographically active zone of crustal uplift and thinning. All the earthquakes are tectonic and shallow. Magmatic earthquakes are deep and lower frequency and are associated with volcanos. Consequently, it doesn't seem that this swarm of earthquakes are a precursor to an impending volcano. Thank the Maker.
