yeah i didn't know before. maybe next year :) turns out many battle event had pass since i took a long break.
I didn't do much battling for the last event since with working full time I'm lucky to find the time to get quests done. Wish Morostide would start soon. I love TPing peoples houses (too bad it doesn't make TP show up on your profile) and I really want a certain zapper skin.

- Rita can be beat by a T8 if you use both the and the both modded with Singed Baguettes and then you also throw everything inclduing the kitchen sink to add some offence. And even then it takes multiple tries. It took Tharg 37 battles to get those 5 wins. (For comparison, Tos, my T9, using the to block dark, along with the Mirroring Shield of Brilliance easily got five wins and only needed 25 battles to get ten wins. And some of those losses were before I got the shield and a couple were where I forgot to heal and entered the battle already at low health. It didn't even get a little hard until win seven or eight.)
Just FYI, for the fourth win against Rita, Tharg used: 13 Dark Magma Potions, 1 Regenerating Pylonic, 3 Purple Fireside Flames (so I got 2 extra freezes), 1 Mutagenic Throwing Vial, 1 Negating Pylonic, 1 Darkness Shard, 1 Light Shard and 1 Life Shard. And for the fifth win: 15 Dark Magma Potions, 3 Purple Fireside Flames (which means 2 extra freezes this battle as well), 1 Regenerating Pylonic, 1 Negating Pylonic, 1 Life Shard and 1 Light Shard.
Maliss Bopper is a totally different sort of battle and much harder than Rita because healing and freezing (and stealing) were disabled. That makes it so much more difficult to win. It took Tos 32 battles to get 5 wins against Maliss Bopper (with 26 losses and 1 tie) and that was using every full blocker I could get my hands on. I used which can last multiple rounds, , and if needed and threw potions to increase damage while the other blockers were still around.
FYI, Tos versus Maliss Bopper - I did throw either a Dark Light or a Dark Magma Potion each turn. Used Cobalt Eternal plus Gelatin Slayer plus Rapier of Error first turn, trident plus Gelatin Slayer plus Perilous Whirlpool (for the fire block since I have it) second turn, then trident plus Gelatin Slayer plus Aftershocks until my health was too low to be able to afford not blocking (I think that was just one turn), then Gelatin Slayer plus AoN plus Aftershocks until the end. That was for the fifth win when my AoN decided to last almost forever (it does that every once in a while) and I actually didn't even need the Negating Pylonic. And the reason for Dark Light and Dark Magma Potions were that both of those did damage that Maliss Bopper doesn't block.
It actually took me an entire day of battling to finally get all five wins on Maliss Bopper.
- yes, Rita is dark, light and a LOT of physical, LOL. The physical is what was giving me fits and I wasn't getting close to a win even using the Gelatin Slayer and the core at first. That's why I wound up borrowing the shield. :-)
- I hope you are able to get the skin you want this Morostide. Which one are you looking for? If I have it, I could put it on and bite you when the holiday starts.
holy crap that's a lot of potions and a lot of time. congrats on the wins! man that took efforts. it must be satisfying after getting the wins. i can't even stomach BQ sometimes :P
- thank you. It is very exciting when you get a win you didn't think was possible, or that first win against a challenger who has been trouncing you for what seems like ages.
For some reason I just got stubborn with the recent challengers (I don't usually use lots of single use resources like that). Those wins would probably have been easier if I had better AP and scrolls. My pets still have low AP and only a few scrolls and I am starting to try to work on that.
BQs tend to be more boring. You do them repeatedly and you always know that they will be around again tomorrow if you don't feel like spending the time today. Usually, it's not worth putting in that level of work for a daily activity.
Still, if there is one lesson that the Battle Chat thread and all the battlers have taught me, it's that battling success requires persistence. The hard wins rarely come without multiple losses (and sometimes several changes in strategy)
But battling can be enjoyed at all sorts of different levels. There is nothing wrong with being a more casual battler or one who prefers to have more stats and be at a higher tier to take on challengers. I didn't start getting more serious about battling until about a year ago, so I am still enjoying what I do. You need to find a level of participation that makes you happy. In the end it's a game and it's supposed to be fun.
yes. i'm more toward casual now. but i'm glad i was serious 2 years ago. at least i bought some weapons while they were cheap. now i can't believe the price! Plague Claw used to be so cheap, i bought 1 for wardrobe.
persistence and luck. for me it's more about luck. as long as i'm blasting the right weapons, then i'm good.
it also look like they are more relaxed toward rewards for plot. last time i played, only really top players get good weapons. the reason i reconsider my battling commitment. but they seem more generous after that.
I can't train my pet any more?!?!? What? This makes no sense. How can other pets be higher overall if I can't train mine any more?
They might be higher overall in different stats, but it should still be equal to 35k total.
I have no idea what I am going to do now :( I wanted to move him up the list, and all I can do is hope that his stats are good enough to beat even challengers now.
I'm not even sure exactly how the pet rank is calculated, or who is even at the number 1 spot.
- yes weapons and other battle stuff are very expensive.
My feeling about luck is that, yes, you do need luck to be successful battling, but if you aren't persistent enough, then you are not still there for the good luck to happen. So that's why I talk about persistence. A lot of the good luck you have in battling is hard earned and well deserved.
The battle admins have been trying to do all sort of different things to make battling more fun and accessible to everyone, not just those with top pets or who are really serious battlers. And I think they are committed to continue in those efforts. Most of the battlers themselves are also in favor of changes to make battling more fun for lots of people and that encourage new battles.
And you can be serious about one battle event and then ignore the next if that's what works for you.
I wish they would raise the cap. Not sure why there needs to be a limit.
I think part of it has to do with how they have handled boss battles up until now, since it's competitive against other users. If people who have insanely high stat pets are the only ones who ever end up at the top of the leaderboard, then it's not really fair to other people who can't afford to get their pets that strong.
At least with a limit you have to get more creative to do more damage than your fellow users, if you have evenly statted pets.
Not really sure about fair. I did spend years and a lot of hard earned sp to train him. I am not wealthy. That is basically the only thing I do on here. If I don;t have that, then there really isn't anything for me to do on here between events. I wanna drink now :( or chocolate!
It's taken me a few years to get my pet to where he is now too. But people who have a lot more sP than us could have pets even like 2 or 3 times stronger than a capped pet if they spent all their resources on training. I would say the majority of users can't afford to do that though, or if they did it would take a super long amount of time. As it is, it already takes a long time for most people to reach the cap.
I'm kind of glad that there's an end goal to look forward to, otherwise it would just be endless training always trying to catch up to the other users who are miles ahead.
I want endless training. Gives me something to do. There are a lot of things on here that I wont have. Plenty of achs and things that I wont get. All those referral items :( Ahhhh chibi rainbow sticker!!!! Why must you taunt me?!?!?
- your pet is above the cap which is a total of 35000 stats. If you want to change the build then you need to use leeches to remove the stats you don't want and then add the stats you do want. Most of the top battlers have a particular build in mind and use stat boosters and leeching to fine tune their capped pets to be exactly as they want them. And any capped pet with a reasonable build (ie. not 35000 speed with no health, strength or defense, LOL) can beat all of the challengers. You might need particular weapons or battle strategies though. You are not going to beat the paramnesia challengers just by stat boosting.
You also can not earn EXP with a capped pet (no point in doing battle quests) so some battlers like to leech just enough stats to stay just below the cap to continue earning EXP.
My (admittedly limited) understanding is that pet rank is increased by adding intelligence and AP, and battling successes both in plots and in beating unlocked challengers. I'm sure there are some folks on the battle chat thread who know the formula (or at least pretty close to it).
By the way, the cap used to be 22000 stats and was raised not all that long ago to 35000 stats.
And I don't know about fair. But there definitely does need to be a balance between long time battlers with high stat pets and newer or beginning battlers. If the cap is impossible for new battlers to reach because it keeps going up to accommodate older battlers then that would not be a good thing for battling in general. Right now a T9 (many long years of work and sP) is still only one seventh of the way to the cap.
Also, just my personal opinion, but training is one click a day - or maybe two for pets at your level - not really giving you much to do.
If I manage to drain off some speed can I up the rest?
Don't buy a Japanese soda just because it is on sale!!!! Ugh bad taste in my mouth! Interesting bottle though lol
- yes. You should probably pick your target build before you start investing in leeches though. The battlers have told me that I should have a target build by T11 at the latest.
By the way, if training and growing a pet is really what you want to do, there is no good reason not to start a second battle pet to keep you busy.
And I'm pretty sure you can still do Battle Quests with your capped pet. You just won't earn any EXP (although most battlers start doing BQs with a second pet long before hitting the cap).
