I'm German, so we don't celebrate thanksgiving and mostly no Halloween as well, but we have St. Martin's Day. In my region on 11/11 kids go from door to door and sing songs about Saint Martin (He was a Roman soldier, who cut his cloak in half to save a homeless man, who would have died in the snowstorm without something to keep him warm). The children also carry lanters, which they make themselves in kindergarden and elementary school. It's just soo cute when they ring your doorbell and start singing and get all embarrassed about it and the really small kids mostly don't know the lyrics and either sing whatever they want or just stop in the middle and start again when they know a line (But I don't judge, when I was small there was a line in one song roughly translated to "He had no clothes, he wore rags" and I always sung "He had no clothes, he wore clumps" because the words sound almost the same in German xD ) But the traditions vary a lot from region to region, some light big bonfires, some eat sweet sugar coated pretzels (because yeah, obviously we are German and eat pretzels all the time in all shapes and sizes xD )

Thanks for the ping darling c;

This is Australia in spring so I'm really finding it hard to get into the spirit of this. x) We always have a lot of roast veggies during the autumn though. My favourites are probably roast carrots and potatoes. Roasts are good because they heat up the house and smell nice!

My favorite Thanksgiving foods are stuffing and mashed potatos both loaded with gravy! Cranberry sauce is another especially when it is homemade. Yummy!

My favourite dish has always been the stuffing my family makes. :)

As for traditions, we don't really have any. We make the food during the day then sit down and eat together that night most usually. Its a relaxed environment most usually. ^_^

Ooooh thank you for the ping! Thank you for a neat giveaway! It's interesting to read everyone's favorite traditions and things about autumn.

Autumn is my favorite season. Mainly for the colors, I'm just a total sucker for autumn colors, my favorite colors are literally in the order of priority: 1. Green, 2. Autumn. (Which totally makes sense. You know it does.) I actually have a gallery here on Subeta that is dedicated to autumn! (Since Morostide happened, it needs cleaning up. I apologize.)

I don't celebrate Thanksgiving, per se. My grandmother does and so I do with her; but for me, I just celebrate the season and the harvest and the days growing colder and shorter and just more...mystical, I suppose. (I'm an introvert. I love the time of year we stay indoors! NoI'mnotashutinIswear) I love to collect leaves and pine cones and sweet gum tree burrs and sticks and stones and even animal bones (I had to make that rhyme, I'm sorry. I do have a snapping turtle skull I found in a dried creek) and bring them inside and decorate for the season with it. I think what resonates most with me for autumn is how it's a time of dying, of change. It's a drastic opposite to the expansion and growth and blossoming of spring; the year and the season is coming to a close, the adventure is turning inward, things seem more meaningful around a hallowed time of the plants dying, the trees going to sleep, the animals snuggling up for a long winter. It's this time that has our favorite holidays; these holidays are of family and togetherness and of course, the harvest of not only the crops but of what we've done in our lives for the past year. Autumn is the time of year I become most active, I suppose, like the squirrels who race around to get all of the big fat nuts to hide them for winter. This is when I get inspired for decorating and crafts and spiritual things and spooky things and it's just my favorite time of all. And as I already mentioned the colors. Like sunset, my favorite times seem to be near the dusk of the times of things; there's just a beauty in the coolness and silence of things that can't be matched with words. It's such a raw, powerful emotion that crosses between life and death of the moment and am I being too sappy? too poetic? Sorry, I'm a water sign. I just get carried away in the feel of things.

Anyway. I worked 12 hours today and I get to do it again tomorrow and Monday, so I doubt I'll be writing much more than this here, but I look forward to reading about favorite autumn pastimes and themes. Hope everyone (in the northern hemisphere-sorry Skolletta!) gets to enjoy their ideal leaf pile and autumn shawls and the best and most cozy autumn scene they can imagine. <3

and Thanks for hosting this giveaway! ^^ It's really nice to get to socialise again on Subeta as I was away from the site for about 2 years because of (kids, job, moving) a lot of stuff :) I still don't get much time online, but I'll try to be less of a loner.

We don't really celebrate Thanksgiving around where I live... It's mostly a holiday on the calendar... :S But I do love Fall! I like to go walking in the forest with my loved ones, to share a peaceful and colorful moment, with the cooling weather, picking the biggest or prettiest leaves to bring home and dry as a souvenir. I also like very late Fall or early spring because I can go for a walk in a thin layer of snow, every surfaces sparkling with ice cristals, with the air cold enough to bite my cheeks a little but not enough to be unbearable. Those moments really makes me feel alive and connected to my world.

Also, gray sky is the perfect lighting for photography :P But it don't happen much without rain, so not much pictures taken ^^'

What a fun way to get to know more about people. :D

I would have a hard time naming my favorite Thanksgiving dish... haha! I love it all.. the combination of all the flavors and textures blending together throughout the meal... but two things that I only ever have at Thanksgiving are sweet potatoes with brown sugar, butter and marshmallows... mmmm.... and jellied cranberry sauce. I love that stuff... Idk why I don't eat it all year long. xD

, Thank you for doing this :)

My favorite dish of Thanksgiving has got to be the stuffing. I don't know why, but I love stuffing! Not the boxed stuff...nooo, I'm talking homemade from scratch! With giblit drippings and nice warm homemade turkey stock...Aww yiss. That's the ticket. Only thing that even comes close is the turkey itself and the pumpkin pie hehe

My favorite part of Thanksgiving, is getting to see my family. The food is great! Don't get me wrong! But I'm far more thankful to spend time with my family.

Shoutout to my girl <3 She's been one of the greatest friends I've ever had the fortune to meet, for...jeez, how long as it been? So many years! I lost count haha <3

I want that job where you push scared skydivers out of planes.

and - thank you so much for hosting this giveaway. What a lovely idea.

My family used to get together several times a year for various holidays. Thanksgiving was my turn to host everyone. We would clean house, push tables together, and put out every folding chair. I would cook all the traditional and family favorites. When the family still had small kids, I would use paper tablecloths and get all sort of different Thanksgiving stickers and would keep the children happy and entertained by telling them to use all the stickers to decorate our tablecloth. I always loved eating the holiday meal on the results of their decorating. As the adults arrived, they would all gather in the kitchen to talk and sometimes to help with the cooking/preparing. It sometimes got crowded, but I always loved having everyone together just enjoying each other and anticipating the big meal.

My favorite Thanksgiving dish is still the turkey (with my homemade gravy made from the drippings). So many of the people in our family really love it and it is usually only made for big get togethers.

- come join the fun.

My favorite fall activity is hanging out outside at night. Hopefully with a bonfire or at least a mug of tea and a cozy blanket. Putting my feet up. Feeling the cool breeze and coziness. I can sit for hours like that just thinking, looking at the stars, etc.

oh BOY I love talking about my thanksgiving food. My family is lebanese, so we have a lot of lebanese food at our thanksgiving, though we have turkey and other traditional stuff too. My favorite food is Kibbeh Nayeh! It's raw, ground lamb with bulgar wheat kneaded in, and it's in a big platter and you scoop it into some pita, add a slice of raw onion, and drizzle olive oil on it. It's AMAZING and I LOVE IT. Everyone in my family knows that I get first dibs on it every year. I'm not really sure if I'll get it this year because my aunt and uncle are always the one to host dinner and prepare the kibbeh and my uncle died very suddenly a few weeks before thanksgiving last year, so my aunt may not be up to it. But that's ok. I'm just glad to see her. We'll play Sanatra and tell awful stories about each other and it'll be a grand ol time. :)

My favorite thing about thanksgiving dinner is the stuffing. I like to smother it in gravy. It's always been my favorite! I also really enjoy a big gathering. Growing up, our house always use to be the house that everyone got together at. It's been years since we had that and I really miss it! I hope to be able to have it again someday. <3

I'm not sure I have a favorite Thanksgiving dish. I love eating pumpkin bread. It's a very "fall" dish. I recently made a caramel apple crisp cheesecake. I think it would be a great new dessert to add to the typical Thanksgiving meal my family makes. :)

We don't celebrate thanksgiving. So I'm supposed to tell what I like about fall, right? Well, I prefer staying indoors, watching the leaves fall and have a nice mug of hot choclate to sip :3

(not gonna ping anyone else.. since pings for any group I'm in already came through... :p)

Oh Goodness.. Food.. Man, I like so much Thanksgiving food. My Family is from the deep South, and we moved up to the Pacific Northwest when I was in high school.

One thing I've always missed is some good Southern food. So when Thanksgiving comes around and my family gets to cooking, it's like traveling back home. Without a doubt though, Nothing beats the Cornbread stuffing! Apparently, Bread stuffing is really popular up here(And really smooshy to me! x.x; ), so it's a pain to even find the right stuff to make our family recipe of cornbread. My Grandmother has even gone to the trouble of shipping it here.

That taste of home and memories of the big family dinners we used to have when I take a bite of Cornbread stuffing ladled in home made gravy... Nothing beats that.

Feeling Down? Need a Friend? Message Me! I am a Safe-Space. I will not judge, I will be patient, & you can tell me anything. I can offer advice, or I can just be there. It's your call. But please, Make the Call. I'm always willing to be there for you. Love, Chiibi Dearling

-slides in- hope I'm still on time but my favorite thing to do is sit with family around the fireplace with mugs of hot cocoa and some biscuits and just be all cozy together. I'' not a big fan of Thanksgiving food actually so the family time more than makes up for that :D
