Most items are deflating rapidly and the event is only halfway over. One may not be able to buy everything they need, but most items are in the affordable range now when compared to other limited time items.

yesterday i tried restocking for a bit and i will begrudgingly admit it's easier than i thought. i still don't really like it and would like some kind of non-restocking alternative that isn't vending or questing, but i won't go so far as to call restocking impossible. anyway, i'm probably jinxing myself by saying this, but were vending rates were adjusted? i didn't keep track but i definitely got much better than 1 holiday item in 100 vends today, and most of the vends were this year's stuff.

I think balance is best. Clearly a lot of people enjoy having one actually challenging site to RS from - I'm one of them, perhaps because I do so pretty casually. If I check the shop and the timer's past ten minutes I'll stick around for a few refreshing, if not, I move on. But, I do agree that it would be nice to get more items easily, especially since not everyone can check the site multiple times a day, or doesn't have the fastest connection - internet or brainwise. (I have botched my chances of getting anything by being too indecisive or brain fog deciding to consider the restocked items irrelevant. It is rarely my internet's fault that I get nothing from an RS I catch.) I also agree that the NPCs should be more prominent, so working in FTC rewards with them would be satisfy both wishes. I don't really want to deal with another currency - I would rather we just be rewarded the item. Personally I'd like it if it were split so that one NPC only gave out new items and another gave out older ones. Since there's obviously more old items than new, that could be further divided into item categories. "I'm cleaning out my closet" versus "I'm trading these old collectables out from under the captain's nose on the sly" etc. As for what type of activity? Again, a mix. Just as some people hate RSing some people don't like some games. Personally I am pretty darn bad at flash games, but other people like them. I, on the other hand, like puzzles and item hunts.

tldr; If content must change, additions are better than subtractions.

I have a fast internet connection compared to last year slow one and I think this year it's harder to RS from the shop. Please change it. A holiday shop shouldn't be competitive. All users should be able to get at least some items from it instead of missing out of it completely. I know we can buy it from other users but what's the point of having a holiday shop if a lot of people can't get anything from it?

Freyalise Trading Co., has always been this way and I think it should stay the way it is. It use to be more difficult when you had to type the code in first. Yes it is difficult to get all the items, but if you don't get them this year, there is always next or you can wait until the end of the holiday to see if the prices have lower (which they will do). You just have to be patient.

The only two things I don't like about the current set-up is when the shop takes forever to restock (three times now, I've caught the timer running over 20 minutes between restocks) and too few items per restock.

The only time I've actually been able to snag ANYTHING from the shop this entire holiday is when the shop had a massive restock randomly and I saw nearly three whole rows of product flood in. I didn't even stop to shop, I just blindly clicked and got rewarded. It sucked, but I was happy I at least got SOMETHING. I've seen so many restocks of only three or four items, and they are gone by the time I can click on them.

I thought at first that RSing in the shop was too hard. Then I actually tried to RS- as opposed to just clicking on the shop link randomly every few minutes to see if it stocked. I've been able to pick up 30-40 items, and my internet speed is absolute crap (I literally live on the outskirts of a jungle). I think that if people made an effort and not just clicked a few times and hoped to find items, they'd have more success (not saying everyone is slacking, but seems like some complainers really aren't trying very hard). Also, Carl and some of the other quests give out items (I got a rare item from Pete today), you can vend items, and users are selling them at deflated prices every hour. By the end of the event, everything will probably be under 200k.

I just get so irritated when people complain about things being too hard on here. This site is way too easy, and I'm totally against making it even easier. I love RSing, and I hate that RSing in normal shops is barely worth it on this site, and that RSing in SB is pretty pointless now (except when new lines are introduced). The thrill of RSing and having to beat out multiple people is what makes the event fun for me. If I wanted to, it'd be easy enough to buy the items themselves from user shops, and people who don't like to RS or can't for whatever reason, have that option. It's not as though the items are unobtainable except for those with a fast internet connection.

Also, I'm just tired of seeing users asking that the site cater to their specific needs. I'm all about inclusion and improving certain features, but complaining that the plot is too battle-heavy just because you don't like to battle doesn't mean that component should be minimized for the hundreds of users who DO like to battle. Ditto this event and the RSing. No one is stopping you from participating, and you have multiple ways of getting these items, yet people still whine that it's too hard. We had the Questathon and users complained that they were too busy to come online everyday and do all their quests. People complaining that the plot trail took up too much time, people complaining that the puzzles were too hard.....argh. Just stop! There's something on this site for everyone, and each holiday offers its own activities, perks and prizes. Just because YOU can't RS or don't like to or don't have time, does not mean that there aren't many others who love this holiday as is. Let the RSers have this one thing! (or bring back the RS wars).

If it wasn't clear from my rant, I say leave the damn holiday alone. I respect the other opinions in this thread, but I personally do not want the shop to change (except for maybe increasing the frequency of restocks).

I'm actually really surprised at how fast prices are falling this year. 43/69 of the new items are already below 1mil sP on shop search, and there are still a few days left. I wouldn't mind having a few other ways for items to go out like suggested, but I don't think it's that big of an issue.

I absolutely do not support turning the Freyalise shop into a regular holiday shop with permanent stock.

Is it a bad thing that not everybody can do everything on this site? Some things are supposed to be hard and should be hard, otherwise it gets boring. Everybody also have strengths and weaknesses and your usage of the site would depend on those.

Between my bad connection and the site errors, it's impossible for me to grab anything. If it's not a site error, it's my connection cutting out randomly. I accepted that RSing at that shop is just something I can't do and that's okay. I might not be able to get everything but hey, I'm getting things from Carl and I can still participate.

I hate this holiday. I hate this shop.

It should be like Alegarten. Then I would actually enjoy the holiday.

I wouldn&;t mind it as much if the site would stop crashing and 502ing all the time, making me miss restocks.
This.

Subeta staff (and some players) should just accept that this site's not coded well enough to handle too many people refreshing the same page at once.

I posted this in the news when the shop closed today. I thought about this all week long, and I suggest the following:

Get rid of The Freyalise Trading Co., close the shop for good. For pirate themed items in the week, enable any NPC run store a chance to randomly generate a pirate item from buying something from all the other shops. Sort of like when The Hustler generates a special sticker if you get him to stick one to you. The same random mechanic. That way it's a win-win for all. Restocking people get stuff, and random users without 24 hours to stalk one specific shop for a week have a shot at getting stuff.

Just make sure it's not one specific item because then that will inflate to high heaven, cause site crashes that way and we'll still have this problem.

If the site had been more stable, I would have enjoyed the shop as it is. But because of 502/504s, I had to resort to buying all the items I wanted from usershops instead of trying to restock. TBQH, I think the staff should have either waited until they had a more stable site or pushed tomorrow's bug fixing ahead to before the shop opened for business. I would have preferred having to wait a few hours to have a chance at buying items to never seeing any because of errors.

For Shinwa's sake, definitely no! I absolutely hate the Hustler's special stickers (he never seems to like giving them out), and this really would make me hate Keelhauliday completely! Hardly any of the items were really unobtainable in user shops this year (prices fell really fast).

Just because some people dislike restocking (or can't for various reasons), doesn't mean the Freyalise should change, in the same way that battling shouldn't be abolished because people who haven't trained their pets can't battle the harder challengers ;)

[edit] (I was restocking with a 6Mbps connection speed, and managing to get RS a lot more items than I've managed any other year - it's more down to patience for endless refreshing, luck for refreshing at the right time (and being online at quieter hours obviously helps with that!), and clicking quickly)

Except that getting into battling just requires taking the time to do so and some sp. It's accessible to everyone that wants to do it(and in fact, has been becoming more accessible over time). Not so for restocking in this shop.

but those who don't want to battle, can buy the dropped items from user shops.... and those who can't restock (or choose not to) in the Freyalise can also buy the items from user shops (remarkably cheaply this year compared to last)

Sure, but for those who DO want to earn their own items it IS possible if you put the effort in. Even if you're really good at restocking, there's no guarantee you'll get anything at all.

Regardless, staff has already said in the suggestions thread that they want to add more ways to get the items without necessarily removing the shop itself, so. /shrug
