I had a pet nominated about the second year I was on Subeta. It was rejected because they said my story was incomplete. It was a romance and it was left that way on purpose so the reader could write their own ending. I had other pets nominated as well but they all fell by the wayside and have no idea why. Of course then they cleared them all. Then Subeta's coding or something like that changed and most of my profiles didn't work any more. I gave up years ago trying to win that trophy. In my experience that when something is titled RANDOM on Subeta it ends up being more random for some than others. I haven't a clue why. Why did it take me 7 years to win at the Random game when I played it all the time every day for years? I just finally got that achievement in the last 3 months. Why would I get a Subq invite only once a month if I was lucky while other users got them daily and all of a sudden in the last few weeks I am bombarded with random events and have gotten up to three Subq invites in one day? This random thing can be more than annoying at times. Maybe Subeta is making up for the years when my random events were few and far between. Don't know. I just gave up and don't expect anything so if anything actually happens I am pleasantly surprised.

long time ago - i gave it a try - but i knew that not having english as mothertongue and not being good at this stuff ( coding) and so on would be a disaster :)

and i was right others with much better skills did win - some months one and the same user did win with 2 or even 3 of her/his pets while others where in the line for months/years

so i gave up for a long time - i guess my 1 pet is in the waiting zone for almost 3 years now

the things that makes it difficult/ impossible to win:

1. you cannot ask users to vote you in - and you cannot put the pet in it youreself = a definitly loss :) only popular people and theire pets win

2. if you dont have creators skills / writing skills = a loss

3. you could put 2 buttons (like on trades " accept - decline")
   on the pets page : A: enter the spotlight B: Still Active

if the user clicks every week on button b after having clicked button A - you just KNOW the user is still active !! if that B button is not clicked then the pet will automaticly be removed from the queue :)

Madison was in the que for over three years, perhaps four, before she was booted out last year. No clue why she was kept in limbo for so long and no clue as to why she was booted out. And now she is routinely booted out within hours of being renominated, so I've never put her back because the pet spotlight is a joke. Why is this even a feature if Subeta cannot run it correctly? There are too many restrictions on how it should look ( the ubiqutious, yet clearly undefined 'Subeta Look' ), how the code should look, what kind of art is appropriate and there is every indication that there is a high degree of favoritism and preferential treatment for the friends of Subeta staff members. How is it that some users have half a dozen wins and some of us cannot even get our pets nominated? Is it money? I've spent nearly $4000.00 on this site in the past 8 years, isn't that enough cash to get one of my pets a stupid crappy Pet Spotlight win?

Fix the pet spotlight or dump it. Hell, make it something that people have to pay a small fee for, Spotlight 5 pets a day, did anybody think of that? You have 374,000 pets out there, five a day would add up to, what...1800 pets a year. That's 0.5% of the total population? Why is this so hard? Are you understaffed? Hire somebody. Is Subeta not making enough money to hire somebody to write some high school freshman level code to put 5 numbers on a boilerplate html form? What kind of business are you running? Why does it take 8 years to fix something that is ostensibly one of the hallmark features of the front page of your entire website?

This is probably one of the most frustrating things to date about Subeta for me. I can handle the errors, lag, and bumps of the site growing. But to learn that a feature that so many (myself included!) really want to participate in has been ignored for what appears to be over a year is ridiculous.

I used to be heavily in to winning the spotlight 2-3 years ago and I have quite a number of pets who have won. I've been really attempting to get back in to Subeta and recently dropped around $30 to have Tijuana's profile + artwork completed along with her story to enter her in to the spotlight. Like above, if I have to wait 6+ months my automatic assumption is that she's certainly in the ring for winning. If she were to be kicked out after that would not only really piss me off and be frustrating, but I can't say it would make me want to continue attempting to be active again.

IMO spotlight fell to the wayside for what were deemed more important things, ie wardrobe and the shop lags (which really were important, don't get me wrong, but something had to get ignored and this appears to be part of the 'ignored/get-to-it-later' category).

There are so few things that I really love on subeta now and managing and working with pets pages is one of them. Why would I continue to spend money on the site to support it if a feature I really want to work and use isn't being handled properly? I dearly love subeta after ten years but this really needs to be fixed/addressed.

That is such good news. Thank you for hearing concerns about this. I've got a pet who has been in the queue as nominated for almost a year now, and before that he was in for nearly 6 months (before being kicked out without any notice or alert or indication of why). I want to work on my pets, but they tend to get shoved to the back burner because I already have a pet in there indefinitely.

Oh man, I feel you on this. I think of the spotlight as a joke now too.

My pet Paper Witch was so long in the queue that I had assumed it had to be in the waiting to win queue. Then the queue was cleared. Back in went Witch and then nothing for years. Then the coding got borked by something Keith did and it was booted. So I completely changed things on the profile and it was nominated sometime after. It was just this week I believe it got kicked out.

I still have three pets in whichever queue now. Princess Butterball, Sir Rodney, and Creator Destroyer. I'm waiting to see how long it'll be until they too get booted. I've given up. If/When they get booted I'm turning off nominations. There's a good chance too that I'm going to wipe profiles. Yeah, I work on my pets for myself but when there's a way to be able to show them off that doesn't work because of vague strictness/no one caring to work on it, why bother anymore.

All my pet profiles got borked when Keith's OMG image hosting site assumed room temperature. Madison's never fully recovered after that. I'm so tempted to wipe her profile too. I've turned off all but three now.

Creator Destroyer is hilarious by the way, Sir Rodney broke my heart, and Princess Butterball reminds me of my Author's cats, ( he is their slave too. ) You should win!!

You know, if there was some little indicator light, like a stop light image that could be displayed on the pet profile as a visual cue as to the pet's progress through the system, you know, red=rejected, yellow=passed first inspection, green=in the winner's queue... I don't know, something....It could be located in the pet spotlight area where the trophy goes.

I've had a pet nominated since March of 2015 I believe and sometimes I completely forget about it, to be honest. It's frustrating to wait this long, but what terrifies me the most is thinking that they haven't even reviewed her yet and that they're going to reject her in the queue after 16 months. It's frustrating too because some of the coding is now weird because it's been so long and there's nothing I can do about it ('s getting turned into a weird jumble of symbols, the story still being by me but under my old un, etc.). I'm pretty sure I said all of this months ago on an identical topic and I was hoping by now something would've been done. I dunno, I think the wait is ridiculous, but like I said, I'm even more scared that she'll get kicked out after all this time.

Depends on the queue it is in. But odds are, if it has weird coding errors, it is not in the queue you have to worry about.

I'm scared to edit it in case it's in the queue where it could get kicked out D: . I mentioned that before and I think or another administrator said that they can't blame us for text errors that happened after they were nominated and that they wouldn't consider them?

Maybe I am wrong shrugs but I guess it all depends on the errors and how it looks as a whole.

The fact that users are not even sure if we can make minor edits, due to fears about the queue and rejection times, shows another huge problem with these long wait times. My two pets that have been in the queue for nearly a year and a half had no coding issues when they were entered (and hopefully accepted). But thanks to server and coding issues on Subeta's end (nearly 8 months after they were in the queue), they now have some coding errors. It is killing me that they are there, but going in to edit them is too risky after all this time. I can, however, verify that a pet can win even with those errors. Arachnophobia won while still having those errors (since it was no fault of mine), and I just immediately fixed them. But still, this is just another reason it sucks to be waiting for so damn long. :C

This has always been one of my biggest frustrations with this site. I have 58 pets and have been here for over 9 years. I joined before human avatars even existed. I'm here for the pets, and I love working on mine. I spend so much time on this site that I wish I could volunteer to be the Pet Spotlight Person, lol. I really do love this place with all my heart but like...

I've nearly stopped paying attention to how many pets I have in the queue, or how long they've been there. If I'm going by when I finished the profile layouts, let's see...

Elecman was completed in September. Phaine, Ambus, Mythras, and Strayer all in August, and Mythras just won last week or something. Gaster AND Megalovania in November-ish (though I wanna change the latter's profile someday, but for now, eh.) Aksaith in November too. Honeycutt in April, Kyrie in May, which aren't too bad... but still kind of annoying?

That's... kiind of a lot of pets to have sitting in the queue for months upon months :/ And since AUGUST only one has won? Like... what

People are upset with waiting literally a year to win, and so far the 'answer' from staff has been to add more people to the pool of potential winners (while acknowledging that the winners queue appears to favor the newer entries).

Also, are you considering changing up some of the requirements? Since a lack of programmers being available to work on the changes that require coding, I would hate to see this thread get bumped/remade in 3 months due to a lack of significant changes, only for staff to once again blame that on the lack of programmer availability.

Pet Spotlight should be more open then anything else here, should let people see the entries, see why theirs was denied (AND shouldn't be denied if the rules are followed due to simply not liking one entry over another), and if in the que should be notified. Nomination shouldn't be by another but let the one that did the profile decide. They should know the best. If you are trying to reduce the number make a rule a person can only have one pet spotlight for their account. That is much better then the situation at the moment.

I had a pet.. https://subeta.net/petinfo.php?petid=876834 kicked off today for the 5-6th time. I have had it recoded, rewritten a lot, checked the pictures and had people helping and giving advise. This last time there is actually nothing more I can do. Since this particular pet means a lot to me I have actually submitted a ticket simply to find out if this is worth me making any more attempt. Everyone I talk to seems to think the page is fine yet it keeps getting kicked off the pet spotlight.

This is a pet site yet the Pet Spotlight seems totally secretive in how it works, what is needed (the pet I have has followed all the rules regarding the profile), and why some are picked and some not. When something is this secretive you get people wondering about things like favoritism and other less 'fair" approaches. Can you wonder why?

PS I just added a treasure the day before.. please don't tell me that messes up the nomination for pet spotlight?
