( Glad you posted again tonight! I can squeeze in one more writing before heading to bed ^_^)
"Why yes, the weather's been lovely. Oh, don't worry about these little scars. I was just adventuring around and fell into some thorns. I can be such a clutz sometimes, heehee! Anyways, how did your weekend go?" Aldridge tapped her foot impatiently as the ferryman rambled on with his nonsense like usual. Of course it had to be his daughter's birthday this weekend so what was usual small talk turned into a long narrative of the fellow looking for the best present ever.
"Well now, that is something, isn't it? Did she like it in the end?" she said not even paying attention to what the man was saying anymore. Her eyes were dead set on a pair of trees in the forest. After this coot's novel was over she was heading straight there.
"Well there you go! I'm glad you had a good weekend. I'll see you soon, as usual, okie dokie? Tell your wonderful family I said hello!" Finally.
Without a moment to lose, Aldridge headed to the trees to inspect the damage. She crept around them for a moment but quickly got bored. The fall didn't seem to give the girl much damage, meaning she was on the move somewhere on the island.
"Dear me, I've lost her again. If I don't get rid of her soon she's going to be quite a pain in my side. Now let's see, these footprints suggest she wasn't going south. If I were a girl with my cover blown, where would I hide... Eenie, meenie, miney... mo! Here I go!~" Aldridge thought to herself and left, pulling out a spare communicator to talk to her little crew, "Jasper, Carlos, I'll need you both to head to the ferry. I've got some tracking to do right now, and I need you both to camp there to see if you can spot the girl. This time, I want you to catch her, you twits."
You tried to be as cautious as possible, but right now moving away from those trees was your first priority. You knew that once you exited the forest you'd stop leaving footprints behind, so that was the least of your worries. The next part was more difficult.
You step past the tree line and are greeted by the warm sunshine on your skin. Your surroundings look meager at best, and now the game you were playing was entirely luck. You zig-zag from patch to patch, wishing the forest could have extended to all of the island. So far so good, though, as you haven't heard nor seen anything.
And then you suddenly freeze in your tracks as your eyes gaze straight into the lens of a camera. Her entire mansion was surrounded by them. You stumble back into the bush you were just in, poking your head out just enough to examine where the cameras were positioned. It was no use; no matter what move you made, you'd be caught on some surveillance camera. Your heart beat faster as you revved yourself up for the most ludicrous decision of your life: you have to get to that mansion somehow. Dashing out of the bush, you push yourself to run as fast as possible until you hit the mansion's wall. You shake your head in disbelief that your stunt actually worked. But... what do you do next from here?
You scoot over to the side of the mansion, trying the door on your way to see if it would open. Nothing. You try the next door. Nothing. Was this all for nothing? You make your way to the back and try again. Still nothing. Somebody must've seen you on the cameras by now. Aldridge was probably tipped off and heading this way at this very moment. Your eyes well up with tears. Is this the end? Maybe you should have just headed straight for the ferry. Maybe you should have stayed south. Hell, west was probably the safest. You sink down behind a large potted flower helplessly and cry, knowing that this was probably your final moment alive.
A large door swings open around the corner and you scurry around the vase for cover, wiping the tears from your eyes. No, you weren't going down without a fight! You-
"Hey, Carlos, maybe we should go an' check them cameras again just in case."
"Listen Jasper, Miss Aldridge said she was tracking her right now. That means she knows where she is! We don't need to look at the cameras, she wouldn't come here anyways. We need to go to the ferry NOW, in case she gives Miss Aldridge the slip!"
"Well, I guess yer right fer once there since the ferry comes every Monday through Wednesday mornin'. If she did give the missus the slip we need t'catch 'er before she boards tomorrow mornin', or Wednesday. After that though she's as good as dead, heh!"
"Hey, you weren't supposed to call her 'missus' anymore!"
"Well yer not th'boss o'me; she is. An' what she don't know can't hurt her, right?"
The henchmen get in a large atv-like vehicle and drive off most likely towards the ferry. You... you're safe? You run to the door they came out of and give it a pull. Well, they weren't completely stupid as they remembered to lock it, but the trip to the mansion wasn't a complete waste. Now you know when the next ferry will arrive, and even the one after that! You may still have a chance...
Before you get too optimistic, however, your mind traces back to what the men have said. Aldridge had probably figured out that you didn't stay in the forest. At the mansion, you were exposed, and no matter which direct you ran, there was a high probability of encountering Aldridge or the men. You're stuck between a rock and a hard place... well, more like a mansion. You sit by the plant and wonder for a while on what exactly you should do. You need to pick a good strategy, since the late afternoon still offered a lot of sunshine to expose you with.
You have the following choices: A. Head to the west. East isn't an option as you know the men are there... but would Aldridge go west? B. Head to the south. You have the cover of the trees, but there's also a high chance Aldridge could be there too. C. Stay here at the mansion. With the cameras covering almost every inch around the place, it's a risky move, but at least you know for the time being that nobody is here.
After a quick thought she decided her best option was to head west away from the ferry, that was what Aldridge was least expecting her to do. She wanted to search the immediate are in the mansion first to see if there was any food or possible weapon nearby. A kitchen knife, a pistol, who knew what this mad woman left about? She headed out quickly keeping her eyes and ears poised for danger, she tried to look for anything that could be eaten or used as a weapon should the woman find her again. After heading west she hoped she would be able to scout out the ferry and get on it as soon as possible but she knew the men would be swarming it.
( The last person on the island bids farewell! It was a close game but unfortunately nobody survived until the end. Maybe I made this a little too hard? Well, I had a lot of fun with this and I hope you all did too ^_^
I'll be making a sequel to this very soon! Hang around in the forum group if you guys want in on the next one~ I'll open up a general OOC for this soon to get feedback from you guys and you can ask me questions in regards to this or the next rp c: )
You make your way westward, stomach growling every so often. It's no use, you can't continue to starve yourself. You take a moment to scout the vegetation and animal life for a while until you stumble upon some berries. These berries seem exotic and unfamiliar and you wonder for a moment if they're poisonous. Should you eat them or not? Your hunger takes the better of you and you take a berry, chewing well before swallowing. It tasted bitter and slightly sour. Whatever fruit this was it tasted awful, and you second guess yourself on your choice to consume it. After waiting half an hour by the bush with no side effects, you convince yourself they're not poisonous and take a gracious handful in your mouth. You eat the bare minimum for your body just to be sure before heading on your way west.
Still quiet; not even the trees are making a sound. The faint breeze of the early afternoon left the island feeling more threatening than usual. You shake your head for a moment after realizing how ridiculous it was that you knew how this island "usually felt." But, silence was golden after all. It at least meant that Aldridge wasn't around.
You sit by some thick brush at the edge of the western beach, smelling the saltiness of the water before you. The time you spend on the western edge was minimal, but you're glad that the beach had a few nice sand dunes to cover yourself with. With your stomach slightly disagreeing with the berries from earlier, you think this is the best time to think of a strategy. You planned going east at some point. You had the be there for the morning to catch the ferry, meaning your stay on the western shore was going to be shortlived. You look up at the sun; it's probably best that you head soon so that when evening fell you'd be cloaked by darkness and ha-
You take a look at your old bandages only to find them covered in blood. You don't even need to turn around to know who appeared from the southern forest. Panicked, you make a run for the ocean when you hope to lose her. You grab a small boulder from the shore to help you sink down into the salty water and hopefully give you enough cover to avoid another bullet.
Your wound stings as you desperately hold your breath and grasp onto the rock with your life. Although you can no longer see Aldridge, you know she's still on the shore firing bullets from the faint sound of bullets whizzing through the water. You just need to hold out for a little longer...
A direct hit to the stomach. Your breath escapes you and you slowly let go of the rock letting the ocean water bring you back to the surface on the shore. Exhausted and in pain, you have no energy left to even weep. You lay there in the sand, eyes wide, watching a blur approach you slowly. How could life be this unfair? A rich and powerful luring innocent people to her island to slaughter them in a game. How could fate be this cruel to let her win? Were there ever any survivors? Was the ferryman in on this too? But that wasn't important now. You were dying. You close your eyes and breathe in one last breath, making peace with yourself and wishing the woman before you a fate worse than death could even bring.
You have been killed.
This is the end of this roleplay! Please stay tuned for a sequel! It'll be different (and maybe easier) than this one, so keep your eyes out for something new soon if you want another chance at survival!
