Choice C
“Yeah,” Andrew grunted, still barely even conscious. “I’d say a spear is probably a good idea.”
The loud gunshots in the distance and the surprise announcement from their host had reminded him that although they’d managed to escape harm’s way for the moment, they still had a long and dangerous stay on the island ahead of them. He could hardly believe it had only been one day since he’d walked through the mansion’s doors. One day- and he’d already brushed so close with death. He couldn’t help but wonder if Miss Aldridge had missed him on purpose, just to toy with him. After all, the arrow she’d shot at him had come so close to piercing his neck. If she really had been messing around before, and the gloves were truly off now… then how much of a chance did they really have of making it another two days?
That depended on how smart they were, he reminded himself. He was thankful he had Zeke () around to review their options. His brain was still a little groggy, but he forced himself to mentally go over the choice at hand. The mansion was tempting, as there was most likely still some food there and his stomach was now aching worse than his arm. Of course, hanging out right in the lion’s den seemed like asking for trouble. Then there was the ferry, probably the most risk free as Aldridge had most likely already checked there. And then… west. Assuming Miss Aldridge had already pressed east, and then been in the forest with them, that meant west would be the last direction for her to go. They would be actively putting themselves in harm’s way. And yet, there were probably some more survivors lurking there, and Andrew had been considering finding them.
Of course, that would be breaking his mantra of staying in the smallest group possible. However, a thought had occurred to him awhile back, a thought which he hadn’t wanted to voice to Zeke. The fact was, there were certain parts of Miss Aldridge’s plan that didn’t quite add up to him. Mainly- did she only intend on doing this thing once? After all, if she allowed people to escape on the ferry, then naturally they would rush to the authorities straight away, and she would either go to prison, or end up on the run for the rest of her life. So Andrew figured, one of two things had to be true: either she was basically a hundred percent sure she could kill everyone on the island in three days, or… there wasn’t a ferry coming at all.
Whichever one it was, Andrew only saw one way they were getting off the island. They would have to kill Miss Aldridge, before she killed them. They had one arrowhead, but that wouldn’t be enough. They’d need people, and careful planning. He hardened his heart. “I think we should make an all-out sprint for the West. I’m pretty sure I can handle it, and we know Aldridge is still in the forest right? We could find some other survivors, and give them that information, tell them she might be coming their way.”
Zeke - (C) Zeke looked west. "Alright, that sounds like a plan. West it is," he nodded. Andrew's idea was actually pretty sound. Put as much distance between them and the huntress as possible. Seek out others. Maybe together, they'd have a fighting chance. There was strength in numbers. Of course, she and her henchmen has access to weapons, but that was an issue for later. "Okay, let's go," he took a deep breath and gradually built up a dash westward.
((Was going to edit it into my last post, but IDK if it would be seen)) Dee (C) Their escape had been part luck and part skill, but probably mainly luck. They had gotten away but for how long - would the two men pursue them? Dee wasn't sure and she wasn't about to wait around to find out. She looked around then motioned to her companion towards the west telling her she was going that way; if the other girl wanted to come then fine. Trudging forward at a brisk pace, she kept looking around her and on the ground, desperate to find something someone might have dropped or some berries or a sharp stick or even some kind of plan to make a bag from. She did her best to move quickly and quietly; she wasn't going to let anyone sneak up on her again.

Isabelle looked over at the guy () and whispered, "I know. The blood trail may lead her right to us though. We need to try to get her away from it. Can you carry her by yourself or would you need help?" Her stomach rumbled loudly, she had forgotten it had been a bit since she had eaten, she glanced towards the trees, "Ya think we might find something in there? We might be able to do raw food from it..." Isabelle was uncertain with her choices but felt comfortable with them, seeing people in need was a soft spot for her. Before they started pulling the girl towards the forest, Isabelle ripped off more fabric from her clothing and ran to the shoreline and soaked it in water, it was rudimentary but it made it so there was drinking water, at least for a time.
Aika followed quietly behind her new companion. She did not make a sound as she followed her westward. They moved briskly away from the manor. Aika kept her eyes open for supplies or anything that may come in handy as they moved deeper into the undergrowth. She picked up a large stick on the was. And returned to following the woman from the prison. She has noted a few key features about her. She seemed to be quite skilled at pickpocketing. Able to take the keys from the two oafs while they were distracted. And she had quite a quick pace as she moved forward. Aika moved quietly, looking back periodically to make sure not to leave a trail and to cover their tracks. She did not want to be followed.
Wesley - (A) "It's no problem. I can manage myself," he answered (). Wes knelt down on one knee and carefully lifted the unconscious girl's torso up towards him. Using her arms, he pulled Circe onto his back. He stood up slowly and made sure she was secure on his back before turning towards the forest. The extra weight wasn't much of problem for him, at least for now. He waited with Circe as the other stranger went to the water. At first, he wasn't sure what she was doing, but then realized, she was getting water.
"I'm Wesley, by the way," he mentioned, realizing he hadn't introduced himself to her. He didn't get the chance to introduce himself to Circe either, so he would have to so again later. He started making his way towards the trees. He wanted to take advantage of the daylight to scavenge for food. When night comes, everything was just going to be harder. "I wish the circumstances were different. I wouldn't have minded a camping trip. The island has some nice views," he sighed. "It would have been a nice change of pace from the city. Too bad we can't stop long enough to enjoy anything...," he turned towards the female. "Sorry. Just rambling. The hunger is getting to me," he forced a subtle smirk as he looked back ahead.
(A)
Isabelle looked at him (), a bit startled that he introduced himself, "I'm Isabella. I would say nice to meet you but as you pointed out, the circumstances aren't the best. I was looking forward to a nice break, instead I have to run for my life again...," she trailed off when those words came out of her mouth.
When they got situated in the trees and Circe hidden from plain sight, Isabelle took the knife from her backpack and looked it over, it would do. She looked around at the plants in this area, "I hope these are edible." She walked over to one and sliced some off near the root and taking a bite, stifling a grimace when the taste hit her taste buds.
Wesley - (A) After arriving, Wes gently laid Circe down on the ground, with the tall grass and dense shrubs helping to keep her obscure. He sat back a little, watching Circe for a second before turning to see what Isabella was doing. He heard her say something about something being edible, so he stood up, taking a few steps in her direction, but wandering not too far from Circe. Though she was hidden, he still felt obligated to guard her. "I take it those are delicious," he commented and folded his arms. He scanned the area with his eyes. Wes knew nothing about plants so he had no idea which ones they could eat. At this point though, he would eat tree bark.
() "You said 'again'," he started, looking down at the ground. "Earlier, I mean," he clarified. "What did you mean? It's not the first time you were in this kind of situation?," he couldn't help but ask. He suddenly felt he was being nosy. It wasn't really important, but here he was, prying. "I'm sorry. You don't have to tell me, I was just...curious, I guess," he apologized.
( Wow congrats, everyone! You've all picked the smartest choices this round so this post doesn't have a lot of action, but you all need to survive the night now! Choose wisely, you still have one more day to survive after this, and I'll need your choices in by Wednesday!)
Everyone Minus Circe
Circe has now lost consciousness and cannot make a choice. Wes and Isabelle must take care of her this round until she recovers.
After furiously thrashing about in the forest, Miss Aldridge went on to track the two men's clumsy footprints out of the forest. By the time it took her to track them this far, the men had managed to move far enough away lose her. She planned on heading west next. Jasper and Carlos had failed to capture Circe, meaning the girl drowned at sea or the shore brought her in somewhere further down the coast.
There was still the issue of leaving the broken tranquilizer in the forest. If Dee was smart enough to put two and two together like she was, she would know that if Aldridge 'didn't have the tranquilizer on her anymore' it would probably be lying around the last location used. With that, Aldridge begrudgingly headed back into the forest and rang up her men for a ride back to the mansion. However, she wasn't completely tossing aside her move westward.
Riding along the shore to judge if Circe had in fact been carried out to sea or not, she came across a trail of blood on the shore. She stopped her ride and stepped outward and followed the trail until it finally vanished some distance away from the beach. "Oh, how charming. Did a knight in shining armor come to save her?" she muttered to herself and stared out into the distance. They couldn't have gotten far. Alas, with the equipment in her vehicle and the lack of movement from the surrounding area, Aldridge had to head back to the mansion to avoid the possibility of arming anyone with a gun.
You take a deep breath after Aldridge's mode of transportation left your sight. For whatever reason, she didn't pursue, but the smirk on her face suggested she might be back. You take a moment to stretch before you tense up again- movement from the corner of your eye. Could it be Aldridge's men? Have they joined her as well? Another still moment passed by. No, they wouldn't take this long to make a move. There were other survivors around! This decision could make or break you, so before you take another step you consider your options carefully before nightfall sets on the evening of your second day.
You have the following choices: A. Head into the forest again. A team of three or more would definitely be too big to go undetected by Aldridge, and you know the forest can provide coverage B. Call out for the others and join forces. There is little time to organize and hiding in a large group could be tricky, but there could be safety and benefits with numbers. C. Head west towards the ferry. It is safer with fewer people, but you will be walking most of the night to get to the other side of the island with a lack of cover.
(No Choice yet)
() Isabelle looked at Wesley, "I was on my own on the streets for a long time, not anymore though. Just didn't think I'd have to fend for my life like this again," she shrugged like it wasn't a big deal, trying to keep the emotions out of sight. Her ears perked up a bit at the sound of a motor in the distance, "Do you think we should try to get further in or hunker down for the night?" She wanted to run towards the ferry and just wait, but that was the most obvious thing. Protecting Circe was weighing heavily on her, and all the other folks that had been in the mansion too. "Do you think anyone else is hurt?"
Aika looked to the girl next to her. They had headed west away from the mansion and closer toward the beach. She turned, "Perhaps it is in our best interest to stay together." She mumbled, not wanting to bother the woman. I got caught because I had to sleep eventually and I couldn't keep watch the whole time." She remembered the moment she lost control of her body, and the world went dark. "Do you want to go back to the forest, where there is more cover?"
Wesley - (A?) Wes fell silent for a moment when Isabella () explained her past. "I'm sorry," he said softly. "That you had to go through this before...and again now." He paused when heard the sound of a vehicle and turned his head in the direction of the noise. Much to his relief, though, it grew gradually fainter.
"I think we should get further in," he gave his opinion and looked to Circe while still talking to Isabella. "Right now, the only thing between that lady and us is the night. I'd like to add a few more obstacles for her. The forest will provide more cover. It'll be even darker inside, but that might work to our benefit." He walked over to where he had set Circe and knelt down to check on her.
"I don't know," he answered Isabella's question. "I would think this game is going badly for our hostess if Circe is the only who has been hurt so far...," he stopped when movement caught his eyes. "We're not alone," he realized. Did Aldridge come back? No. She just left. Was it her henchman? He suddenly felt his body tense up. He rose up and looked down towards the shore where they had came from. There were people down there. He couldn't tell who they were though cause it was getting dark and they were far. Wes wasn't too sure about the company.
Zeke - (B?) Finally reaching the western beach, Zeke slowed to a stop before looking over to Andrew (). "Hello? Did you see that?," Zeke asked. "A vehicle just drove down the shore," he specified, as he hunched over to catch his breath from all the running. It was out of sight now, but Zeke was sure it was the Aldridge woman. Did that mean she had found someone and was pursuing them? Was she going to come back? Zeke wasn't sure, but he was glad to finally get a break. Although, it was getting dark and he was famished. "What now? Should we call out to see if anyone else is around? I mean, it looks like the huntress already just left. She's out of hearing distance." They had only just exited the forest. He wasn't sure if Andrew was willing to go back in so soon. They also just ran all the way here so he wasn't sure if he had the fuel to run all the way back east to where the ferry will be.
((Unable to make a choice for Circe))
Dee - A
She looked to the other girl (). "I guess that would be the best option. I walked almost all night when I was caught...I'm not sure we could make it anywhere else without her catching us."
She headed forward. "We need supplies too; maybe someone dropped something in the forest. Or if there's a thorny bush we could make a rudimentary spear... I wouldn't be surprised to find some toxic plants either...maybe a coating for the weapons? In any case, we should look while we walk but not devote too much time to us. Distance is our goal...we don't need to get all the way, just further than some other people."
She looked at the woman next to her, she was wise and intuitive; she liked that. "You are right, the farther we get from the madame the better, and I rather the others be between me and them. Unless of course we could all plan to jump her at once and overwhelm her. But somehow I doubt we can get that kind of cooperation. Struggle brings out either the worst or best in people."
She moved further into the western part of the island keeping her eyes open for anything that might be useful. In all her time adventuring she had very seldom been with someone. She found it both soothing and a bit nerve wracking. She didn't want to trust the girl she had just met but at this moment she had no choice. It was however a bit of a relief to know there was someone looking out for danger and things of possible use.
(A)
() Isabelle nodded at Wesley, "Want to get her on back back? If you give me your shirt, we can make a carrier so she stays up there easily..." She turned her head towards where he was looking, "Let's get moving, we don't want to chance it being her or her people, unless..."
She stood still while Circe was situated onto her back. "Maybe there will be better food deeper in there too," she quipped.
( Today's the last day to submit your choices! Everybody excited for nightfall? :D I still need yours ^_^ )
(Sorry , I’ve been on vacation for the past few days, no time to write)
Choice B
As Andrew knelt down on the sandy beach, gasping for breath, it was all he could do not to pass out. Spots danced across his vision, and the ground beneath him felt like it was spinning. The exertion of running across an entire island plus the excessive blood loss he’d sustained from taking a crossbow bolt to the forearm was almost more than he could take. Add onto that the fact that he was undernourished and dehydrated, and he didn’t even know how he’d made it as far as he had. As he struggled to keep his body from completely shutting down, Zeke () spoke to him, but Andrew barely even heard him. It wasn’t until a few minutes had passed that he finally had the strength to stand up, and even then he still felt woozy.
It occurred to him that finding other survivors was no longer just a suggestion, it was a priority. He needed help, or he might not make it another day on the island. He was in no shape to go out searching though, and he didn’t want his friend to go alone. Zeke was right, they would need to call out for survivors. Andrew only prayed that the din of the waves crashing against the shore would be enough to drown out the sound of their voices before it reached the mansion. If it wasn’t… well then their heads were both on the chopping block. Zeke might be able to get away, he still seemed to be in pretty good shape all things considered. But Andrew’s chances of survival… well, better not to think about it.
( We have our first casualties :( If any of you want to continue a discussion of the RP, comment or ping me OOC and let me know if I should do an OOC thread ^_^ If we make an OOC thread you guys can ask me any questions on how your choices impacted the game, or discuss strategies, or anything else you want! Those who are still alive: you're almost there! Or are you? ;) These choices take place in the early hours of the morning on your third day. This is the last day for you guys to survive before the ferry arrives tomorrow morning! Yay! Can you make it?
You have until Tuesday [since 4th of July is on Monday] to make your choice! Make it a wise one ;) )
Choice A
Aika and Dee travel together while Wes, and Isabelle take a more cautious and slower route as they take care of Circe. They all knew there were others around and made sure not to get too close to the others' traveling group. After a few hours, Circe had regained consciousness. She was still very weak and hungry, but the rough patch has almost completely stopped what little blood Circe had left from bleeding out.
Better safe than sorry, you think, and head deeper into the forest for more cover. You disregard the muddy footprints you leave behind initially as your priority is to put distance between yourselves and Aldridge. You take a moment to stop and think of a strategy now that nightfall has surrounded you and your group.
Aldridge was last seen on the west shore heading north. The only thing north you can think of is the mansion, where she probably only visited there briefly. That means in the time that you've been walking, Aldridge has been on the move as well. There's no way of knowing where she could be headed next, so as safe as the forest sounded, it's no guarantee of protection here. In fact, a doubt crosses your mind for a moment as you remember the gunshots you heard coming from this very forest. Could she be tracking you at this very moment?
You stop in the middle of your train of thought and freeze as you hear a few gunshots in the distance. Aldridge wasn't in the forest -- yet. It came from the west coast where you were just hours ago. But now you're torn on what to do. Hunger is taking over your mind and you begin to feel dizzy from the lack of food and sleep deprivation. Furthermore, your water bottle is starting to run out and you look up to a pale dark blue sky. The sun will be up soon.
You have the following choices: A. Keep going deeper into the forest. Once the sun comes up you'll be able to see better and make your trail harder to follow, but due to your hunger and lack of sleep, you have no idea which direction you're going anymore. B. Make camp in the branches of a large, dense tree canopy. You can rest and hunt whatever animals/fruit you come across, but will have to stay in your area to avoid being split up. C. Head out of the forest. This is Aldridge's island, and the gunshots you've heard means she was in here once before. It could be she'll be heading in here once she's done on the west coast.
Choice B
You both come closer to the west coast trying to look for whoever else might have been here. A blood trail leading from the water was visible, meaning either somebody crawled out, or dived in. You call out just loud enough to be within earshot of anybody nearby. Nothing. You call out again. Still nothing. Whoever was here now left, presumably into the forest or to the east. You take one last look out onto the water to see if there was anybody swimming with no success.
You take camp on the edge of the forest; it's just enough for you to still see the beach. You had hoped somebody would come back this way to see if there were other survivors to band with, but as the night went on you had lost hope and decided to move on. That was, until you heard a set of sandy footsteps coming from the shore. Finally! Somebody came back to try and form a group! You stand up and try to see who this mysterious person could be walking around in the middle of the night, but it's hard to make out. A passing break in the clouds provided some moonlight, and you squinted to get a better look. In that moment, your heart froze as you saw the outline of a gun.
Stumbling back into the brush, you both silently try to motion to each other to run into the forest. Zeke's legs quiver so much he's unable to stand, and Andrew's head spins as he tries to get up. Thus you both try to silently crawl further in.
"Ah, there you ar- oh~ Well, this is interesting. I was expecting to find that girl with the leg wound." Aldridge had caught up. She flashed a light at Zeke before examining Andrew thoroughly with it, "So you're the one I hit in the tree. Interesting. I would have thought you would be on the other side of the island. Unless... oh! You must have seen me ride by earlier, is that it? You probably thought, 'she went to chase after somebody else she won't be back here for a while,' right? Or, could it be you saw the blood and were trying to find the missing person? Whatever the reason, it was very foolish of you two to stay here. As I've said before, I came back to try and find Miss Bloody Leg here. Looks like she found a good Samaritan because there's no way she could've gone far any other way. Hm, I'm talking too much aren't I? Don't worry, I promise to make lovely trophies of both of you." And with that, Aldridge aimed her firearm and hit without fail.
You have been killed.
