"Oh. Well. Suit yourself, I suppose." Jervis obviously looked a little deflated and hurt at Mara's rejecting his invitation, but tried his best to take it gracefully. He shrugged as she left the room, turning to Selphy with a smile. "All the more for us then, hmm?"

It was then that he saw that her fear was returning; she was trembling quite noticeably and looked rather pale. Well, paler. Whatever had calmed her down before - adrenaline, worry for his health, a simple overdose of fear - was obviously wearing off and she was becoming as skittish as before. Jervis' expression changed at once to concern. "Are you feeling quite well, dear? Would you like one of your new blankets?" he asked. "You're looking a little chilled there."

For the second time that day Jervis tried to concentrate his powers and filter out the extraneous thoughts he heard around the motel. Although some of the clientele's minds were still in a panicked buzz and there was still a whole load of angry and pained thoughts coming from nearby, things seemed to have calmed down. Something had a mind sounded like a zoo or a very odd barnyard - all animal cries with no words he could understand - and he wondered whether that was what had caused all the trouble. Maybe it was the source of the odd... pressure he could feel coming from that direction.

"Things are calm now, I think it's safe. I can't hear anyone thinking as if they were in a fight. Somebody's hurt but the fighting is over. Everything's under control." he soothed, doing his best to sound comforting.

"A wendigo?" Lee didn't want to go near it, truthfully. But he was worried about Chevelle, and someone was hurt. She was so angry. He tagged along after Andrea and saw the car goddess kneeling next to the wounded scaly-man who was moaning. The goddess who had been on the roof was trying to speak with the monster on the ground, and another woman who had just arrived during the whole mess brandished a knife at it. "I dunno about you, but it looks to me like they've got it." "Lee, stop flappin' your lips and help me." Chevelle snapped. "Get in the trunk where that first aid kit is. Least we can do is try to wrap him up so he doesn't bleed everywhere." She looked back to the Marshman. "Tim, hey bud, we're going to try and patch you up a bit and then move you, but if it hurts too much, we'll carry you out somewhere safe, wherever the nearest open room is. Looks like it mostly got you up top." His shoulder wasn't in good shape either, but his arms were clawed up from where he tried to shield his face. Lee skidded a bit on the wet ground as he ran to the back of the car, trunk opening with a pop. He flung it open and dug through the contents. His travel bag, a couple weird artifacts (he casually swept under his bag), a few weapons Chevelle had made him bring along (also ones he tried to hide from curious eyes, though the newcomer seemed to be okay with brandishing her knife), and finally, at the bottom, he found the white box with the big red cross on the top. He ran back to the car goddess and popped it open. "You sure we'll be okay here? I mean, it's right there-" "Covie's got this." Chevelle replied. "If that thing thinks it can beat up a goddess, it's got another thing comin'." She eyed it with disdain. She had just met all of these characters, but she wasn't about to let someone get eaten by a rouge monster, not when they all seemed like good people. They patched the Marshman up about as good as they could get. "You ready?" Chevelle asked him. "One, two, three-!" He was heavy, but the car goddess lifted him like he was a feather. Lee, on the other hand, had a bit of trouble, bowing under the weight. Tim was still making the rough, clearly unhappy sounds. "Hey, sorry about the wall." She yelled out to Babs through the crater. "You, dunno your name," She called to Andrea. "is there another place not so close to this thing? I mean, we can take him into your room for now, but uh, little too close for comfort to me."

OOC; I'm so bummed, but I think that I might have to do a partial drop out. I can reply again in, maybe, four days. Unfortunately, my boss has just decided to put me on 9 to 5 (or later) shifts from Monday to Wednesday. Usually I would be fine with this (more money for working the quietest days), but it leaves me so damn tired. I literally have no energy left after dealing with so many people, let alone enough energy to control Barbara, Tim, and Ahua as well.

In saying that, could everyone please keep them involved in the story if they're relevant at the time? I don't mind people playing them at all. I'm giving you full control. Just make sure they stay true to their characters.

Sorry about this temporary absence! I'll be back as soon as I can. I'm sure I'll have a whole lot of reading to do, but we can all blame my asshole boss, so that's okay.

OOC: :( and she did go in her room and not around back but I'll fix it

Andrea looked to the girl who spoke, "I'm Andrea and his room is right next to mine." Andrea told the girl. She looked to Tim as he was hurt. She frowned before looking to the creature. "I'll help if you need it." Andrea spoke.

Mara nodded before she exited the room with Riley. Mara walked back to her room and looked at the broken window. She sighed before pulling the curtains over the broken window. She then laid down on her bed with Riley in her hands.

ooc/ Cooper isn't brandishing it, it's flat against her arm, she didn't want to scare the Windigo completely :)

bic/ As the rain lightened, much to Cooper's happiness the lady from the roof came down, talking to the creature. She tensed as the lady communicated with the thing, in case it didn't like this kind of contact. Cooper tried to follow what the creature said, barely catching a name. Was it this things name? she wondered, staring at it cautiously as the lady who had been on the roof began talking to it. The creature seemed to have given up on life, just laying there, waiting for something.

Seeing as it didn't react Cooper turned her head towards the others, standing over the Marshman. Quietly she walked over to them, wanting to help if possible. She tucked her blade into its sheath before crouching down to take a look at the guy. There wasn't much Cooper could do for Tim, her first aid kit was bandaids and rubbing alcohol. Black goo caught her eye on the other woman, "Either that thing bled on you or you've got some nasty lookin blood." she commented, eyeing the black smears on her face. "Either way you should probably have that checked out."

((OOC: Sorry for the wait, weekends are hard for me sometimes.))

It was actually a relief to Selphy when Mara took Riley and left, though she felt bad for Jervis, who was clearly disappointed, and Buttons, who seemed to have made fast fast friends with the dog. However, Selphy had quite different feelings towards the canine, and she certainly didn't need the extra stress right now.

"Oh...I'm fine," Selphy lied, though her motives were pure; Jervis had just begun feeling better, and she didn't want to stress him out again. However, it came as an immense relief when he used his newly disclosed ability to suss out the situation, and the answer was almost as good as she could have hoped.

"It...it's over?" she gasped, hands clenched hopefully together so firmly that her knuckles had turned white. "Thank goodness..." She could feel tears of relief pushing at the corner of her eyes, and she rubbed her face with her droopy sweater sleeves in an effort to prevent them from escaping.

It was a moment before she registered the rest of what he'd said, and her brow furrowed with worry. "Oh...but you said someone is hurt? I hope they're okay," she added anxiously. How self-centered of her, to focus on her own fear when someone had gotten injured actually doing something about it, rather than hiding away like she had. She swallowed nervously; what if it was Andrea? Or Diana? Or Ms. Barbara? Or the newcomer, Lee, who was only trying to find a place to rest for a couple of days? There seemed to be a lot of kind, wonderful people in this motel. Selphy wasn't sure she could handle seeing harm come to them.

"W...Well...shall we take a look...? I guess we'll have to, anyway, if we want to have tea..."

Buttons, who had watched this all unfold quietly (and who had shown definite signs of drooping when Mara and Riley had left), now chimed in. "Yeeeeees, you should go...have a gooooooood time..." He turned morosely towards the door again. Why had his new friend Mara insisted on leaving...? She'd seemed very distraught. Wasn't tea with friends a sure way to feel better? He hoped she would stop by again soon so that he could see how she was doing, and wished he was able to leave the room.

"They don't sound as if they're dying, but it is rather hard to tell... I'm not that sort of doctor."

Jervis wasn't keen on the idea of looking outside to say the least, but he had to admit that Selphy had a point. It wouldn't do to sit around in ignorance - and possibly in danger - without even trying to work out what had been going on. He was sure he wouldn't like what he would see but it wasn't as if there was much alternative. And it isn't as if I hadn't seen the aftermath of plenty of fights when I lived in the city. he thought, remembering the number of times he'd heard the sounds of violence or police sirens and ambulance when he was sitting at home or at work. Far too many times.

"Alright." he said, nodding. "Shall we go together, then? I don't want to force you into anything, of course, but I don't like the idea of going alone..."

OOC: I'm going to move my character forward. I hope that's okay? Ashley could follow Diana out if you want.

BIC:

Diana kept an eye on Ashley as it sounded like the fighting came to a stop. She stood back up and moved to the window, peaking out of the blinds. She felt relief seeing that it did indeed stop. "Ashley dear. The fighting seems to have stopped. I'm going to step outside to see if I can help at all. You can follow me if you want." She smiled at the girl before stepping outside. She saw Covie on the floor in front of the thing before noticing that the rain had calmed. She lifted herself off of the floor and flew over to the group. She noticed another newcomer and nodded at her before looking at the monster in front of them.

"So.. Does anyone know what this is?" Diana looked up and looked at everyone. Her eyes landed on Tim, and she flinched before moving over to Lee and his sister. She glanced up at the two of them briefly. "Do you think he'll be okay?"

oop sorry about that!

"Quick introductions; I'm Jackie. Yeah, but your help would be great. I guess Tim's room'll be far enough away, but if that thing approaches again, I'll do more'n crack an antler off." She hissed. "Ah, that black stuff on me is from the car. Considering I hit the wall like I did, wouldn't surprise me if I busted up some things inside it too." She said to the newcomer. "You know of anyone who could help Tim? I'm no doctor; I just know basic stuff, but I do know we'll need something pretty strong, and for now we can clean him up. Look, I'm not gonna mince words here, and there's no point in hiding it; does anyone know any kind of healing magic? 'Cos needle n' thread ain't gonna cut it on this guy. Covie might be able to help, but she's a bit preoccupied." They opened the door to Tim's room and sat him on the edge of the bed. "Lucky you got thick skin, otherwise that thing would've cut you to ribbons." Chevelle commented. "If I had known your room was so close, I wouldn't have used all these bandages just yet." She undid them again, the brown blood staining the white linen cloth. "Can't do much about your eye on my own, but this, this is rubbing alcohol." She held up the bottle. "It's going to sting. You know, hurt a bit." She knew she was taking a bit of a gamble; she had no idea how it would react to him, or if it would even help at all. "It's to clean the gunk out of your scratches." The car goddess couldn't just let him sit there and bleed everywhere. "Lee, wasn't there some kind of pixie in the office when you were in there? Gave you some blankets?" "Uh...I dunno about a pixie, but yeah she gave me some blankets." "Well she was somethin' like that. And I'm guessin' she has magic. Go find out and see i-speak of the devil." Just as Chevelle had said something, the pixie had appeared. "He's pretty tough. I mean he's still kickin' with those wounds. His eye and shoulder are the worst, and I really don't think I could get a needle through the others unless someone has a leather sewing awl, come to think of it. But that's gonna hurt like hell. They're too deep to just bandage up. I just did it 'cos I didn't know how far we had to take him." She looked at the pixie and inclined her head towards Tim. "D'you got the magic to heal someone like this?"

Cooper followed the others to the Marshman, Tim's, room and nodded, "You're lucky the airbag didn't do more damage then." she told the other woman, thinking of the damaged car and beam outside.

She wasn't sure how Tim would react to the rubbing alcohol, wondering if it would dry him out or increase the bleeding since his body was made differently than normal peoples, or so she assumed. "I'm no doctor, but maybe we should be careful with the alcohol, maybe use hot water or something first?" she suggested, hanging back a little. She didn't want Tim to get hurt, but she had no idea how to help. She barely ever took care of her own wounds, much less somebody else's wounds.

"Oh, um," Diana started. "I can try? I don't use my magic very often so I'm sure what I can do to be honest." She offered a shaky smile before moving to their side. "If I can't heal, I can easily get medical herb to numb him a little and make sure he doesn't get infected. Maybe we can see if someone has a leather sewing awl too?" She reached out to touch his shoulder but stopped and pulled back. She flew over to the sink to wash her hands quickly before returning. She smiled at Tim slightly. "Hi Tim. How are you doing dear?" she asked while reaching out to his shoulder. She let her hands hover for a moment as she concentrated on her magic, her eyes fluttering shut.

Diana felt herself come alive as she searched her magic for anything related to healing. She felt as though she had been searching forever when she found something that could help the Marshman out a little bit. She felt the magic surge from her palms as it reached out to Tim. It was more of something to sooth his pains than close to wounds but it'll do for now. She opened her eyes and looked at Jackie. "I didn't do much really but it'll help with the pain. We'll have to find someone with the correct tools to close him up." She looked around the room hoping to find something that'll help patch him up.

((Not a pain at all! :) I think it was decided that there's a corridor between the rooms and the car park now, thanks to some people (mainly mine, I admit) confusion between a hotel/motel/Holiday Inn. So they'd be stepping into a corridor which I assume has windows?

We don't seem to have that style of motel in England, or if we do I've never stayed in one. So I kinda got the wrong end of the stick vis a vis the layout.

Selphy gulped, but steeled herself, trying to be brave. "O...okay...maybe just a quick look..." Part of her (a large part, the cowardly part) wanted to simply dart from her room to his, but, considering one of their fellows had gotten injured facing whatever horrible thing had been making those noises, she felt that she owed it to them to at least see if there was anything she could do. Privately, she was already pretty sure there wasn't.

She crossed the room slowly, standing in front of the door with her hand on the knob as she had only an hour or two prior. Buttons floated up next to her, eager for her to open the door as he hadn't been able to see much when Mara had gone. She might have stood there longer, but Jervis was right there, waiting, and so she held her breath and pushed it open.

At first, nothing in particular stood out. The hallway was as it had always been, and the terrible screams from earlier had gone. She stepped over to the window, still fighting the urge to go straight to Jervis' room where nothing more intimidating than a warm cup of tea waited. She scanned the car park, throat dry, for signs of movement. The door to room number two was ajar (whose room was that again? she couldn't remember), and outside room one was a woman she vaguely remembered seeing around the hotel...and...

Selphy took a quick step back, hand pressed firmly against her mouth to hopefully suppress the urge to throw up. Even from such a distance, the sight of the creature that was on the ground was enough to make her nearly die of fright. It was covered in what looked like rotting flesh, or was it merely bone? It didn't really make a difference to Selphy, who turned her back to the window and went to stand by Jervis' door, as far as she could get at the moment without seeming completely unnatural, and stood, trembling. Fear gripped her, now that she knew the creature there and could no longer see if it had managed to get up, to perhaps cross the courtyard to where they were, but she simply couldn't bear to look at it a moment longer. Dogs and friendly pint-sized ghosts seemed a lot less intimidating at the moment, now that that thing was burned into her mind's eye. That face...those claws...it would be a miracle if the one who'd been hurt survived...

Memories flashed unbidden through her mind, memories of other horrors she'd seen, creatures she'd been forced to face by her mother. She squeezed her eyes shut behind her glasses, as if that would somehow make those memories, and this new one, disappear.

Looking out at the creature on the floor wasn't any easier for Jervis to look at than it was for Selphie. He let out a quiet "Urgh!" at the sight out it, his eyes wide and his face paling with disgust, and unconsciously started to wring his hands again. It really was a frightful beast and he could easily imagine it making the horrible screams that they had all heard not so long ago. But a part of him almost felt sorry for it, in a strange way; something about it struck him as almost melancholy. He couldn't imagine being so hideous. It certainly couldn't be any fun.

And its mind... So unnatural. So noisy! It's a wonder I didn't hear it coming from a literal mile away. We were lucky it didn't smell the blood of an Englishman and decide to take a bite out of me... he thought with a shudder. It reminded him of some of the creatures he'd heard of or even encountered in the city: the horrible winged beasts that haunted the night, the scaly thing that lurked and growled in the sewers, the mysterious laughter from the old abandoned funfair, whatever it was that had taken over the old botanical gardens... There had apparently been some sort of animate scarecrow running around at one point, but that turned out to be nothing more than a disgruntled academic in a costume.

He turned away from the window quickly, dismayed to see that Selphy had apparently taken the sight even worse than he had. Her mind was frightened jumble and she seemed to be lost in memories, since nothing he could hear made any sort of sense to him. It seemed it was his duty to comfort and console her again - but how? Jervis was almost as scared as she was, and had awful social skills to boot. "Well..." His voice came out a little wobbly, so he cleared his throat and tried again. "Well! I think they have everything under control and our... unexpected guest will soon be escorted from the premises. For good, with any luck!"

Jervis crossed to his door and opened it, holding it open for Selphy to come in. He let out an exhalation of relief at seeing the contents of his room, as same as ever and completely monster free. "Make yourself at home. 'Minha casa é sua casa' and all that. Sit yourself down anywhere - the chair, the bed, the floor, wherever you please. Or the ceiling, even. After a month here I wouldn't be surprised at all." he joked, doing his level best to sound like a happy host and not a... whatever the opposite of that was. He didn't know.

Brushing aside his awkward attempts at levity, Jervis cast his eyes towards the kitchenette. "I'll just put the kettle on." he said, then went to do just that.

[[OOC: Love the Batman references, and Jervis speaking Portuguese. 😄 ))

Selphy was mercifully pulled from her thoughts when Jervis spoke to her. "Oh...yes. Yes, I agree," she replied shakily, trying to act as normal as possible. He was certainly coping better than she was, but she could tell he was scared of the creature, too. She thought it was pretty doubtful that either of them could add anything to the situation by Room One that wasn't already being provided.

She crossed the threshold of Jervis' room with a quick, quiet "thank you" and glanced around. She was immediately impressed by the varied assortment of books and knickknacks on his shelves, and how neat his room was despite the amount of things it held.

She turned to face him when he spoke, so as not to be rude, and offered a weak smile at his joke. She was grateful for his attempts at normalcy, and resolved to swallow her fear as quickly as possible. "I suppose I'll sit in a chair...in case the ceiling is dusty." Her face turned pink barely a moment after her attempt at a return joke. "Not that I think...actually, your room is very tidy. Um...I'll just take a seat," she mumbled in embarrassment. Jokes were not her forte.

She sat down in the chair nearest her, hands held together in her lap, and continued to look around. Her eyes lingered on his rather impressive collection of books, noting that he had several copies of Alice in Wonderland. She smiled faintly; he really did love that book. She moved her gaze to his third shelf, full of china and stuffed animals (perhaps she'd ask to look more closely at them later), and then finally to the top of his dressing table, where a cage sat.

That must be Tea and Cake, she thought to herself, getting as good a look at them as she could from where she was sitting. Perhaps she'd ask Jervis to introduce them to her. She rather liked mice...they were so tiny and cute, not intimidating at all. When she'd still had the original Buttons, her cat, she'd always bent over backwards to prevent him from catching any.

"That Chevelle don't got any airba-" Lee started to say, but the car goddess glared and he shut his trap. She tried to change the subject. "Mmm, you got a point about the alcohol..." Chevelle said to Cooper. "Don't need to hurt him anymore than what's already been done. I just dunno what to do to sterilize them." She then looked to Diana. "That's a start, at least. I don't really know how that sorta magic works, but did you see how bad it was?"

"You know, I should probably uh, back the car out of the wall..." Lee said, stepping out of the room. "And apologize to the owner for this I mean, you did take out her wall. How're we gonna pay for that? And the car? The car's busted up bad, leakin' like that. Hope it still runs..." I mean, are you okay after that? Lee asked Chevelle. "It'll be fine." I'm fine. I've bit it on worse things than walls before, kid. I'll pop out the dents a little at a time so no one gets suspicious. You think anyone saw you? Nah, not other'n Covie, that goddess. I doubt she'll say anything though. I actually kinda hope she takes credit for bustin' it up. And watch how far you pull out! I don't need to be flickerin' here in this room! "I'll be back in a sec." He ran out to the car, next to Babs who was surveying the damage, and not at all happy about the monster that had attacked Tim that Covie was still keeping at bay. "My sister n' me, we're real sorry about your wall. Tim's okay, but beat up, and we're wonderin' if you know anyone who could help him? We're not sure how to clean him up. The one lady who gave me the blankets, she did somethin', but it helped ease the pain and that's all she could do. Ah, let me get this car outta the way, too. I'm sorry about this." Lee said, apologizing again. What a way to make an entrance. What a way to be incognito, actually. Bust through a wall right from the start. At least you can sleep here for a while. We can pretend like you're fixing me up. With things like THAT at the door? Not sure if I'm gonna get much shut-eye here. He started the car, Chevelle chuffed a bit before kicking to life, and he backed carefully along the wall to park the car in front of Tim's room. A small bit of black smoke whisped out from under the hood where her blower was. You're smokin' a bit. Sure you'll be alright? Haha, kid, I'm a goddess. This ain't nothin'. I mean, if you say so...I saw that oil on your face. What if someone looks too close? Psh, I'll handle it.
