Okay, I've made an announcement thread with the FAQ which you can find HERE. I've added a bit more than what Grace has on her GA Beta Testing thread. and I will be keeping an eye on this thread, the GA thread, and the news comments for whatever else we'll need to add. :) We've locked it because we'd rather keep everything in one place (like your feedback here and bug reports in the GA thread).

Thank you! I saw where you mentioned that the testing would help decide more reasonable final limits for shop sizes, but I wasn't sure about galleries.

Posting this again...>_>

  1. Will we be able to REORDER categories with this "new system"? I've suggested that so many times, and it was never considered.
  2. Why can't galleries be a separate thing? Galleries SHOULD NOT HAVE LIMITS. I am still quite unhappy about this change because it will render my galleries useless and unable to grow. I do not like this AT ALL.

Sorry, I think I keep using "shops" to mean both! I'll make sure to be a bit more clear with that.

I'm not sure how often this has been mentioned in this particular thread, but I know I saw a few people mention it in the comments on the news post.

What of the shop till achievements? I am close to the 50m achievement. Will there be some way of transferring the tills? Even if the events were a little buggy, it wouldn't matter much because eventually they would be fixed--it would seem to be the switch over that is the most important.

[edit] also, as far as ideas/solutions go, -Limit quest prizes to 1 item, no matter what. Sometimes I do a quest and give only 1 item but receive 2 AND a QP. If there are too many items why is that a thing?

-Have Pete + Alexander ask for 2 items, and have Maleria consistently ask for 3 items--she asks for 1-3 normally. The other quest NPCs ask for 2 consistently, I believe.

-Have the Recycle Beast ask for more items!
---Possibly prevent those items from RSing automatically at midnight for the day he asks for them? I know a lot of people (or a few anyway) RS those items all day just to sell them for a few thousand more...but they never all sell. I also used to only RS items for him, which doesn't make a dent on the amount of actual items on site, and makes for a very poor sP sink.

I personally have a hoarding shop for the Recycle Beast because I can't be bothered to hand price all those cheap items, so I wait until he asks for them. I'm also trying to get the Ametsuchi, so I have a reason to hoard. Buying the items daily is not worth it.

You do realize you are the guys that encouraged us to hoard in the first place? :/ You put the achievements in place, I'm assuming because you wanted us to actually TRY TO ACHIEVE them??

Now you are blaming OUR shops for the errors. Nothing to do with the crappy coding by any chance??

Ugh. What's the point. I'm wasting my time here. There's nothing left for me to do, I can't quest or restock as I have no room to sell anything. My shop is already way too large.

Am totally gutted to find things end up like this. There's nothing to try to accomplish and I honestly would be too wary to attempt anything else. I feel very lost on here, something I never thought I would feel :(

For shop tills, we will let you know / update the FAQ as soon as we find out! There are a few things that still need to be worked out, and this is on the list :)

Once you get more info on galleries and how they will or won't affect the database enough to where they could have potentially much higher limits than shops, could you maybe add something about it to the FAQ as well? I know a lot of people have been wondering about it and brought it up in this thread and in the news comments.

What I don't understand is why galleries can't be set up differently from shops. While I understand point that it takes longer to remove items from the vault (mine is extremely large) than from user shops, I also know it takes 1/10th the time to open my vault as it does my gallery (which is only slightly larger for unique items). It just seems to me that there should be a way to have galleries that aren't shops. Those of us that have been here for years have built galleries that we love and it will be impossible to have them anymore. You can talk all you want about "other uses" for items, but that isn't the point. Most of us don't want to use our actual gallery items. I have a friend who has spent 10 years building a box and bag gallery. What is she supposed to do with that. She sure isn't going to recycle or frag items she has spent hard $ on. The whole thing is just sad. Subeta created this whole problem by encouraging hoarding in galleries and it just seems to me they should find a better solution to the problem.

Thanks for letting me know, glad to know that's on your minds at least!
Also, I edited in some ideas to my post, no idea if they're repeats, but it's my two cents anyway.

We've been the first to admit that the vintage coding hasn't really been compatible with how the site has developed over the years. This is a step we really need to take. It isn't about blaming anyone, it's just the reality of what's happened. We're doing everything we can to lessen the impact on users, but it's this huge, resource intense feature right now that we have to fix to be able to continue having the site function. It will only get worse with time. We want you guys to be able to play the site, so we have to fix this huge looming problem that's only getting worse as time goes on. We’re doing everything we can to make sure this transition works well for ALL of us. We want you guys to be able to sell your vended items or restocked items, but we also want to stop the errors around site so you can actually do those things.

I'm just going to say nothing that's going to be done is going to discourage me from hoarding. My vault is a mess and tbh I like it that way. Randomly going through it to later find something that's gone way up in price or something is amazing. If you guys eventually set a limit on our vaults I'm going to be even more disappointed than I am now, that truly will gut me. I like having a bunch of different items. I can go back and be like "oh look, I got this from x plot or that from that event." Hoarding is something I do on every site I play on and I like it that way.

good ideas on questing! That's something we can look into for sure. A few people have suggested Recycle Beast changes of some sort, so that's pretty high on our list of things to update. :) I personally would like to see him cycle through items a few times a day maybe or like suggested, be able to turn in holiday items/floaters right after a holiday.

Quote by Luck
As a side note, people rush to buy things when new features/achievements/revamps are released because people know how the economy is. If they don&;t buy it right then, the items will inflate to the moon and not come back down for probably a year or more. People have to buy the items, that, or, they already have them. Which is hoarding. So the options are to either hoard one of everything in hopes that when things like that happen, you&;ll already have the items necessary, or, to rush to the shops and buy the items for instant gratification before inflation happens. People like instant gratification. That is why people buy required items ASAP, and that is why inflation happens, and that is why some people hoard in the first place. Preparedness. So it seems that the two options are either hoard and cause lag, or buy things and cause lag. :P

I'm just going to quote myself here about the hoarding thing. I'm guilty of hoarding items that appear to be in sets, regardless of how long ago the items were released, because deep down I have a feeling that they're going to willy-nilly be made into an achievement. Because there's a prerequisite for that exact thing and I have no reason to believe that they couldn't be achievement items some day. I've been bitten in the ass too many times by not buying things when I could have, or getting rid of things that I ended up needing because an achievement came out years later for those items. That is why I hoard.

I finally finished the 15k wardrobe achievement. But instead of getting rid of my clothes, I put the ones I didn't want anymore into a gallery because I have this sneaking suspicion that the tier will be increased some day and I don't want to be bitten again. Staff could tell me literally 1 million times that it would never happen, but I would not believe them, sadly. Because too many times staff has said "x will never happen" only for them to turn around and make it happen. I know staff doesn't want to be seen as distrustful but... dammit. That's the reason I have a gallery with over 6,000 wearables in it. That is why I hoard and it's not my fault.

Why can't we be given a bit more time? Some of us have been working on hoarder for a while and a bit more notice would have been nice.

Have a great day!

Given that the hoarder achievements can take years to get, I don't think any amount of time would have been very sufficient unless you were already pretty close.

I am about 8k away from 45k.....I have been working on it for 2 years, not a ton a day but have been actively working on it and have been a member of the site for over 7 years. Very upset by this change!!!!!!!!!!

Have a great day!

So I haven't read this whole thread, but I was hoping someone who had would fill me in on if anybody has mentioned the Minion Zoo. I see that some people are upset because of minion galleries and my first thought was "well, wasn't the zoo supposed to be like a gallery/collection?". Finishing that up and letting us display it like a collection might make some people happy.

The idea for holiday items/floaters is a good one!
I'm not sure personally about him cycling through items, unless it was on a consistent schedule--like it changes every hour, or every 6 hours or something.
My take on that, though, is only the people who are actively trying to get something from his shop would be the ones to check for multiple changes a day, and reliably recycle. Maybe some lower point priced items in his shop (25-50pts?) would be good as incentive for people who don't have as much of a sense of delayed gratification/who don't want to recycle every day for 3 months for one item.

But I would love some sort of a change to him anyway, as it stands it's going to take me more than a year to get the Ametsuchi haha.

I actually don't have any huge issue with people being cut off on the hoarder achievements. There have been conversations going on about removing those for years. I think the biggest problem with that aspect is that, again, it's been years of talk so having this implemented in 10 days time seems a major rush.

I cannot adequately describe how pissed off I am about the shop/gallery size changes, though. Set a 5k limit, not a 250 item limit.
