Every HA you do seems to have a cute critter in there somewhere. Your ancient Egyptian look is very nice.
I studied ancient cultures and archaeology at university. I love discussing them. ^^ I'm sorry I vanished but my mother wanted me to help make dinner. I'd love to continue the discussion if you like. ^^ What's your favorite ancient culture?
Thank you. ^_^ You look very smart too. I take it you're a fan of the Roman empire?
well yes, it inspires my fantasy. I fascinated of the wide variety of that culture over time. It has so many facettes. But it's not my favorite. That would be ancient cultures of the south american continent. I'm especially fascinated by the Inca. But my wardrobe was so stubborn I decided to go for a simpler outfit and not trying to create an inca-avatar.
Another question: did you ever change your username dear?
I'm quite fascinated with the stories in general, how life used to be and such. :-)
Edit: I'm off to bed now, ladies, so see you tomorrow! :-)
I can see that being a tricky HA to create. I could maybe pull together an Aztech HA but an Inca one would be very hard. They liked Geometric patterns on their clothes didn't they? As for my user name, no. I've never changed it. I've had this name since I joined.
Good night. Sleep well and see you tommorrow for more chatting. ^_^
I'm doing okay! My toddler caught a bug, and so I've barely slept in days. Plus of course a woman's monthly woes decided this was the perfect time to arrive. :P I'm curled up in bed with a coffee/cocoa drink and I think I will do some writing.
Hiii! You look very strong and sturdy. :D
I love that you featured the Celts! My heritage goes back to them, and I agree...there is so much that we don't know! I was reading about the discovery of the graves in the rocks somewhere in Northern Ireland. I keep hoping that there'll be more discoveries made that give us more clues about their life.
AHH, I thought masq would start this weekend! I guess they're keeping us on our toes. ;)
Me too! I hope it starts on Monday or so, cause I have a one week holiday! :D
I'll be right here. :-)
I can see how that would make you curl up on bed with a cup of cocoa... What kind of writing if you don't mind my asking?
Ow. Sounds like you've got it all happening at the same time. How's your little one doing now? Is she getting better? How are you feeling? I hate it when my monthly starts. I get pain and struggle to do anything. Did your writting go well? I'm always listening for new discoveries on Celtic history. I'm decended from them and I want to change the idea that there was no culture or civilised society before the Romans arrived. Did you know most of the oldest universities in Europe can trace their foundation back to what we know as ancient Celtic society? I'm sure they'll start soon. They maybe trying to match the items they did for Survival. That's quite the list to top!
So what would you like to talk about? Celtic, Roman, Greek, Egyptian, Persan, Viking, Angalo Saxon or early societies from before them? I have a fondess for ancient history.
I find them all quite interesting but apart from knowing a little about each and a little more about ancient Roman, Greek and Egyptian history (I blame my Latin classes.. XD), I don't know much about any of them. Partly because your average German book or class about history of any kind is terminally boring (I really don't know how they manage to leave out all the interesting bits) and novels, which are interesting, usually take a lot of artistic freedom (which is fine but not helpful if you're after facts, not fiction). It really would be better if we could just meet up for a cup of tea because history is most interesting being talked about by someone who adores the topic. Alas, we shall have to resort to forum posts (unless you reside in Northern Germany, which I believe is not the case). Sooo... Is there anything you consider most interesting about any of them?
Oh I wished we could dance already!
thanks dear XD
I love what type of HA you chose to go with. I too love history and have always been fond of the Celts. I share part of my heritage with them so it's always been my goal to learn more. I did read about that disk, it's lovely! I hope more secrets can be uncovered because it is such fascinating stuff!
I don't know if EB's Minion is one of us, but I wanted to stay a huge thank you to them :) <3

Same. If I could, I'd stay in bed for a day. I get weak, but thank goodness for some pain meds and hot chocolate since a day in bed is not an option!
I totally agree that there were thriving, intricate civilizations long before the Romans. I believe that they traveled and had great amounts of information that was lost when the civilization was lost. I'd love to travel and see some of the places. I remember reading about the universities, too!
I write non fiction, usually. This was a piece in honor of my grandfather, who turned 80 on St. Patrick's day. :) They are celebrating with a surprise party today. I live far away and can't attend, but was writing a piece to be read on my behalf during the party.
I am always amazed by how dull they can make history. The greatest sopa opera/theater of human emotions ever and they make it as thrilling as a politian's sock draw. Alas I do not reside near Northen Germany though I hope one day to see it. ^_^ I'd love to sit in a tea shop and talk about history and the different theories surrounding it. But at least we can chat on the forums about it.
Thank you. ^_^ Sounds like we could have a wonderful history chat. The story of the Celts is there. But their's was a story of words and memory rather than writing. We can trace an awful lot of things to them. Eggs and the Easter Bunny are symbols begun by the Celts. When the sea birds returned after the long harsh winter they would lay eggs that looked like stones. Before we studied and understood the eggs would have seemed like stones from which baby birds hatched. A stranger and mind blowing symbol of Spring. The Easter Bunny can be attributed to Epona. She was one of the Celtic goddesses. When she returned as the spirit of spring her herald the hare would run through the feilds jumping and boxing with each other to celebrate her return. Eatting a chocolate version of an egg or bunny is a sweeter vertion of what our ancestors the Celts would do. The dress is a combo of two items. The and the I believe they come from Gunta's shop.
Thank goodness for modern painkillers. I don't want to think what I'd be like without them. I'm curious about some of their trading routes. There's one that spans the length of France but it's tricky to find in places because it's not on the modern roads.
If it wasn't so sad, it would be quite a marvel how they manage to do that... It is a lovely corner of the world but then again I live here so of course I'm biased. XD
I think Christian priests incorporated lots of "heathen" beliefs and holy days and symbols into their faith - the easier to convince the "heathens" to convert to Christianity. :-) Although I believe that is not something unique to Christianity but rather a practice adopted by most (if not all) major religions of any given time. The Romans imported the entire Greek pantheon and just changed most of the names, after all. It may have been similar with Northern tribes/ cultures but as they weren't big fans of the written word, we don't know (yet).
The problem is that most adults feel they need to tone down the more intense parts of it. Now I agree with this to a certain point, I've read the legend of Lucresa of Rome, but you can't cut everything out or else people just won't learn. I've always though Germany in genral very beautiful from the pictures I've seen. I'll find out for myself some day. ^_^ Well, people rarely like to give up an excuse to party. Beside that's a really nice way to bring people together.
the problem in general is that people who are in charge of deciding what to teach to children seem to be infected with the beserious-illness. They are too stubborn to accept that if you really want anyone to learn anything it should be as catching as possible. I'vealways had an absolute fascination with history in general cause my mother had such a great way to tell aboit all kinds of history. But school nearly managed to destroy this fascination. It took me a looooooong time to recover from this trauma and be again able to enjoy historically loaded places and first-hand materials. It is as if some teachers believe if it is too much fun it can't be educational.
