There wasn't much he could do until Aderyn did the cut off spell. Then everything returned to normal and he took her hand to right himself. "That was amazing! You did it perfectly. Strange experience to have the spell on ya, I'll say. Wanna hit me a few more times?"

Aderyn smiled at Magnus (), who looked no worse for wear after the spell.

"Thanks! Maybe you'd like to practice one first? We can take turns. Who knows what kind of an effect having repeated spells cast on you could have!"

Taking a few steps over to where the padding was laid out on the floor, she stood, arms out, ready to be hit with the jinx.

"'Ad a bunch of stunnin' spells at me in near me shifting. Didn't do any damage other than braking me collarbone, which was me not the spells."
He ready to hit her with the spell, hoping it didn't backfire and hit himself or someone else. He waved his wand and said, " Petrificus totalus" as he aimed it at his friend.

Aderyn was as prepared as one could be for a jinx - she stood still and relaxed, hoping that she hit the mat when she fell. As Magnus () cast the spell, she had to wait only a split second before she felt it hit her. It felt a lot like the winded feeling she got when she used to fall out of trees as a younger child, and next thing she knew she was flat down on her back on the mat, unable to move at all. It was an interesting sensation, if not a bit unsettling, and she wanted to give Magnus a thumbs up for a job well done but it would have to wait until someone broke the spell.

Magnus rushed over forgetting he needed to cast the counter spell and almost tried to help her up before he realised it. Feeling stupid he said, "Finite incantatem!"

All she had accomplished so far was freezing, which wasn't very exciting, although she was now very handy at animating lifeless objects.

She approached Lyn (), blushing. "Sorry, it was hard for me to hear all the way down there. Do you still want to try the Impediment Jinx out?"

Will you practice the Full Body-Bind Curse and the General Counter-Spell with me too, after you compete?" Poppy asked Lyn (). "I'm sure you'll be great, good luck!"

"Everyone has been doing a great job this term. I'm proud of all of you. Now in this tournament everyone is a winner. There are no losers. Remember, this is just a learning experience. Everyone that participates will receive a participation prize."

"Before we start let's give a round of applause to our participants: Lyn Hale () of Gryffindor, Aderyn Jones () of Ravenclaw House, and Magnus Lee () of Gryffindor House." Beth waited for the applause to die down before continuing.

"Our first duel is about to begin, so anyone who is not a participant please take this moment to find a seat. I'll be drawing names from this bag to determine who will duel first," she said holding up the bag for everyone in the Great Hall to see. "When I call your name, please come up to the platform." Beth grabbed two pieces of paper from the bag. "Lyn Hale! Magnus Lee! Lyn, please walk to the left side of the stage, Magnus to the right."

"Face your opponent and don't forget to bow. Wands at the ready. The duel will begin once I count for three."

(OOC: I'm not sure how you all want to choose who wins a duel. All participants will duel each other. We can use a flip a coin app where one person chooses heads and the other tails to determine the victor of each duel. Everyone can win one duel and lose the other. It's all up to you. Let me know if you have any ideas. This is all for fun after all. :))

Spectators:

Gaia walked in ready for the battle. She had made a Gryffindor and a Ravenclaw foam finger. She loved using magic for making muggle items magical. While everyone was finding their place the foam fingers let out a roar and the battle cry for the Ravenclaws. CAW CAW Gaia couldn't help but laugh. "I figured we could use some motivation!" Doing a little dance with her foam fingers up Gaia winked at her friend Aderyn () "You can do IT! Just breathe!" Then turn to her friends "Good luck everyone! Magnus, no biting!" Gaia added as an after thought and then beamed at her friends.

Magnus flushed a little being called to the duel. He'd never met Lyn before he didn't think (). Bowing to the girl he readied himself. And showed a mischievous smile.

(ooc: no idea lol game for however anyone wants to play. Okay if Magnus loose all rounds. ))

"Definitely. Thanks!" Lyn said to Poppy (). Hearing her name being called, Lyn took a deep breath before making her way to the left side of the platform. She had vaguely remembered Magnus () from the first Dueling Club meeting for the term, mainly because she was happy she wasn't the only one with bad aim (though now that Lyn thought of it, she definitely hoped both of them had improved in that area enough to avoid an impromptu visit to the hospital wing). Realizing that Magnus was a fellow Gryffindor, she mentally noted she should probably start dropping by the Gryffindor Commons more often.

(OOC: I'm okay with winning or losing. We could duel by deciding hits and misses through a series of coin flips; I once used this strategy for a prediction sheet for a rock-paper-scissors tournament and in this case it would make for an interesting duel. (()) could run a coin flip program and announce the final round...)

Aderyn was infinitely glad to be released from the petrification jinx as Magnus () cast the counter-spell. She brushed herself off as she stood and grinned brightly at him.

"Nicely done! That spell doesn't feel nearly as bad as I thought it would!"

Her attention was torn away from Magnus a moment later as Beth () called their attention. She gathered near Beth with Magnus and Lyn (), listening as Beth called names. She stood by as the others were called first and was ready to cheer them on with the rest of the spectators. She turned her head to look at as she heard her name called, though, and gave her friend a thumbs up and a grin.

"Thanks!"

() Gaia walked towards Poppy. "Want a foam finger?" Gaia grinned.

He waved to Poppy and Gaia. "Good luck Aderyn," he said. He waited for Beth to signal the match to began, wondering how to best approach the duel.
