This time her shield was wider than she had ever cast it before. There was just enough surface area for the spell to deflect off of. "Fear is a very good motivator," Poppy announced. She felt exhilarated and a bit sweaty too. "Gaia, do you think being stunned hurts? Should I try it on you now?"

Magnus was confused as he watched partner with Poppy (). He thought he was gonna practice with Gaia? Maybe he misunderstood after the private quipping. and Rowan looked like they were going to pair up so he wasn't really sure what to do. Shrugging but not offended, he wandered over to a corner of the room and sat by himself. Beth () said one of them could partner with her, but surely she had better people to teach. When he lived at the orphanage he often let others take his place for their needs. Pulling his book out of his pocket and a muggle pen he started drawing the wand movements they were practising in his book. Sometimes maybe be a loner was a bad thing? He never really made friends before so social skills were a bit lacking.

Gaia noticed her friend go over to a chair. between turns with Poppy she said to Magnus "Hey! Go practice with Beth! You are ready! You practiced with me. She called on you and the others. Poppy needed a partner." Grinning at her friend she joked "or are you afraid of Beth ()?" She winked at Magnus and returned her attention to Poppy still smiling () and their practice.

He finished drawing the hand and angle of the first wand movement. The he quickly sketched something, ripped it out of the book, closed his book. Then placing his wand over the drawing he and over to . He slipped the paper in her hand with a wink. When she opened the note, she would see a little animated sketch of a wolf biting someone's hand. For only taking a few minutes, it was fairly detailed. Clearly Magnus liked to draw and was pretty good. Above the drawing it said, "Who's afraid of the big bad wolf?"

He continued to Beth. He felt obliged to at least go over to the girl. "Its okay, if you need to pay attention to other people," he said, "I can wait."

He nodded at Beth. "Ready." Mimicking her stance he waited to try to deflect her spell

"Did you want to try using the shield charm first or would you prefer to stun first? Or if you wanted to switch partners, that's fine too."

Aderyn glanced at Harper () as the girl tapped her shoulder to get her attention and she smiled.

"I'm happy to practice with you! I think I'd like to try shielding first. Go easy on me!"

She laughed softly, mostly kidding, and stepped away a few paces before turning to face Harper again, her wand raised.

"Ready when you are!"

"Stupefy!" she shouted, and a jet of red light headed toward Aderyn.

Aderyn stood with bated breath as she waited for Harper () to cast the stunning spell. As the girl spoke the incantation, Aderyn spoke, too.

"Protego!"

She spoke firmly and willed the shield charm to work, closing her eyes in case she was hit by the red light anyway. When nothing spectacular occurred, she opened her eyes again in time to see the shimmer of her shield charm fading away, having bounced the stunning spell off.

"Yes! I did it!!!"

She was proud of herself - it was a much better result than the one she'd gotten with her first few attempts at the stunning spell. Looking at Harper, she gestured to the space between them.

"Would you like to try now?"

"Bring it on!" she said and raised her wand, poised to start the shield charm.

Aderyn positioned herself as Harper got ready and raised her wand with a grin. She knew now that she could do the stunning spell properly, and she just hoped that her aim wasn't too bad.

"Stupefy!"

She watched this time, keeping her eyes open, as the spell shot from the end of her wand and right at Harper.

"Protego!"

The shield charm just barely reached full size before the spell reached it. The jet of light bounced off the shield.

Whew, that was close.

"Protego," he said waving his wand for the shield.

Aderyn gasped, afraid for a moment that she'd cast her spell too early as the bolt headed for Harper (). Thankfully, the other girl managed to get her shield charm up just in the nick of time, and Aderyn breathed a sigh of relief.

"That was excellent! You've got lightning fast reflexes."

Rowan braced herself and waited for Paddy's attack. She may have been caught unaware in COMC, but she was ready now.

Paddy waved her wand, wincing slightly as the movement reminded her about her arm being so sore after the full moon. Concentrating on the correct want movement, she yelled "stupefy" and watched the jet of light heading straight towards Rowan.
