: I'm in the hospital myself right now -- been here since Sunday night, probably going home today. That's unfortunately, why I didn't get the food mass-add finished on Sunday night like I had promised. I haven't forgotten about it, but it's gonna be a few more hours at least until I get to a real computer to finish the job.

: Thanks. I've been nursing the URI from hell for several weeks (I had it when we met in Lynchburg, which tells you how long it's been going on.) On Saturday, my doctor switched my antibiotics to something strong, and I had a bad reaction at a very bad time. I'd gotten up from the computer to make another cup of hot tea, and got super light-headed and dizzy, and ended up spilling boiling water all over my hand (instead of in the tea cup, D'OH!)

So I've been here -- they've put me on IV antibiotics instead, which seems to be helping a little. Fortunately, my burns weren't too serious -- mostly first-degree and a little bit of second-degree burns. All in all could have been a lot worse.

I hope things go super for you at UVA.

Holy crap, no worries at all dude. Please rest when you get home. I'm sorry to hear that you burned yourself and that your infection has been plaguing you this long :/

Man , that is longer than a zombie virus. SO sorry! And the burn on top of it is just too much! Please take care of yourself. We need your friendship way more than we need your coding skills!

That's awful, hope you feel better soon! I'm just shuddering thinking of boiling water on my hand and dealing with a stubborn infection.

any news? Did you get to see a surgeon and is surgery scheduled?

I did see the surgeon, several actually. They said the THING, whatever it is, is shrinking and is actually too small to even try and drain now. I am to get another scan in 6 weeks and see if there have been any changes. Eventually he wants to fix the hernia and do a reversal, all at once. Says the hernia is too large to ignore forever.

How are you feeling? Hope that burn is healing and the infection is LEVAING!

Great that the THING is improving on its own! More surgery is not great, but my guy had a huge hernia repair a few years ago and it wasn't too bad (considering it was surgery and all).

I recommend doing some internet research and then asking the surgeon a lot of questions about what to expect immediately post-surgery and in the long term. A big thing with my guy was a bit of uncertainty about what was "normal" and when he should call the doc. Some stress could have been avoided if he'd asked more questions.

: Overall, that sounds like good news. I agree with Lypsyl ("More surgery is not great"), but once you're on the other side of it, you'll be glad you went through with it.

Me: I'm better, but still not 100%. No long-term damage to the hand, though, and that's good.

Thank you, but it honestly could have waited until you were feeling better. I'm glad to hear there's no lasting damage to your hand but I wish they'd been able to get this under control way sooner for you.

I'm glad that there's shrinkage and they're keeping an eye out. It sucks that you've got to have another surgery, hut it's most definitely better to take care of it sooner rather than later.

How is the healing going? are you home yet? Feeling any relief from both the burn and the infection?

: Yes, I'm home. The burn's as healed as it's going to get -- I'll have a small scar, about half the size of a dime, but nothing worse than that.

I'm not completely over the infection yet, but it's moved up from my lungs into my sinuses and now just an inconvenience instead of a crippling mess. I'm trying to be productive again, and except for getting tired a little too easily, I'm managing.

How are you holding up?

Glad to hear you are recovering. Scars are manly and make you look tough and rugged and all that happy horse-doodoo. Getting tired too easily is probably also a esult of lying around in bed for so long ;). Seriously, I wish I had known what you were going through so much sooner! I thought we were friends? ❤️

I just ran into the weirdest thing. I was looking up White 2013 Pillow. I clicked on the link in the item note to go to the 2013 new year bag and it didn't go, it just pretended to work, whirled around a bit then settled back on the white pillow page. So I checked the note. Nothing seemed wrong with it. I then looked up other 2013 bag items and their notes were exactly the same, but when I clicked on them, I arrived at the 2013 bag, just like I should. Now maybe I'm just not seeing it and the notes aren't identical, but they seem to be and I have no idea what's happening.
