Absolutely you can :) As far as I know you can be anything you want, even if it is a semi immortal weasel anthro with a drinking problem and obsidian claws :D Would you want to be the team mage/magic user or the team theif/lockpick type?

I also have back-up characters, just in case the situation calls for it -- the human thief I mentioned, and a tiger anthro (Khajiit) that just uses brute force for everything.. though I'm not sure how they'd work out, haha.

bards depend on musical instruments, maybe some poetry. as long as your writting skills are up for it then it's a good role.

sometimes the bard acts as the thief as well so you'll have ability like pick-pocketing and picking locks.

not sure if they have the thief as a separate class they didn't in year 1

For the sake of my sanity, would someone please list the roles and typical attributes of each? points to newbie badge

if my memory is correct these are the roles

1. Mage :- magic user, mostly gets puzzles and quizzes
2. Alchemist :- potion creater, mostly gets word play, and quizzes sometimes
3. Ranger :- bow + arrow or cross bow, I forget what he gets...
4. Bard :- Music + thief, gets write ups and sometimes math problems
5. warrior : sword user, battle write ups mostly.

this is how it was in WS 1. now Green might spice it up a bit but generally we all have to stick to our persona. if you are a mage for example don't suddenly pull out a sword and start hacking, use your magic and your head to get through.

bard is the most flexible of all, he is pretty much the joker in the deck.

I guess I'd better go read through one of the WS2 chapters to see what it's like since I don't understand some of the words/phrases you just used. :P Thanks

I did a little digging and found the classes for WS2, I'll post them here for reference.

I think I'll also refrain from deciding on a class for now, and see what everyone would like to choose first since this is my first time (I knew there would be task delegations to certain classes - I just didn't think it was that specific). The one class I don't trust myself with is an alchemist, though ><

Is there one you are leaning toward? And don't fret toooo much, you can rely on your team mates to help you on specifics. Except secret missions XD secret missions you have to do yourself. But if you'd like to use your theif for example, bard would be good, but if you wanna do brute strength, the warrior class Keep in mind those classes are dual. Through the portal in WS2, the bard became a troubador, the Alchamest became a professor.

I can do any class really so I'll hold off until folk have their pick :)

Ire, there is no hurry to pick a class, go with the one that is closer to what you like.

want to play mind games? the magical classes are best showcase your smarts? Alchamist is best steam roll everyone with brute strength! warrior is for you

and so on, I think green mentioned there will be no pre-event this year so I guess no secert missions. used to be we had to pick 2 months on advance and on secret missions your character had to solve the puzzle/battle...etc on his/her own.

I am extremely musical, but somehow bard doesn't call to me. Especially if writing will be the main focus. I can write a song or a poem, but I'm not the best storyteller. And charm to the max is definitely not me.

Maybe Alchemist. I'm not great with history or mechanics, but maybe I can bluff my way through? I like puzzles, chemistry and math are ok.

Jess to me it sounds like you are leaning more towards Mage / alchamist. both end up with puzzles but alchamist is more word play.
