Just had to point out how utterly backwards it is for staff to give away THAT much SP for the latest CW contest, while asking users to think of ideas for SP Sinks. When you are giving away a nice chunk of CSC, like you are for the contest, AND the winner gets a free copy of the item, you do NOT need to "ice the cake" with 50 MILLION sp.

These contests are neat and all, for those that get to participate, but please give a little more thought to how they will impact the economy when deciding the prizes.

Haha, I thought the same thing. xD Why couldn't the prize pool be upped to 3k csc instead? That would cover the 50mil sp without generating more sp? I mean what is one thousand more csc going to do really if 2k is already being given away?

5 million was more than enough.

We don't need more SP in the system. I thought that was clear enough

I was thinking the same thing. Seems like a completely different idea than what we've been told staff wants.

If I won I would be completely okay just with CSC and the free item. I wonder what made them think of 50 MILLION.

I mean I understand it's hard work to get a CW done and cost a lot to commission someone to make the item for you, but this just seems too much when they want sp sinks at the same time.

If you're going to add 50 mill to the economy at least spread it between a few people, like top 10 or whatever, I mean wow .

This

Seriously, why isn't this a prize pool? The winners are going to split this.

Also, contests that do not revolve around visual art are cool too.

Actually, VAST improvement to the other contest. I know that most of the winners got like...600m from winning because the staff promised 90% or something of the sP every time someone bought their items.

That's another issue, but maybe I am just blind. The contest page doesn't seem clear. How many people win? Does each winner get 50 mil and 2k CSC? That could turn into a LOT of CSC and SP going into the economy.

All the more reason for them to not make such ill-thought out decisions regarding prizes for these contests!

When you go to McD alone, taking a Big Mac Trio instead of two Big Mac trios might be a better idea, but it still is awful for your health.

People would still enter for the CSC reward, I really don't get the point of the 50M

Actually, if you think about it, the people submitting CWs are people who already have a hand in the CW market. It's not hard to make CSC if you already have a CW shop, and I can guarantee that a few CW artists themselves will enter. They're trying to give people more incentive/motivation to enter.

Edit: Left out this part on accident. It's still a ridiculous prize, and most people don't know what to do with the sP. Two of my friends had winning entries in the last contest and when the prize money came through, they were so unsure of what to do with the money.

I know I hoard sP like there's no tomorrow, so it doesn't matter to me if I get this much sP or not.

I thought the users who won last contest, got a percentage of what sold, so money wasn't actually being generated from thin air?

Cause if ten winners are going to get 50 mill each, I think that would pretty much negated anything taken out by the Zombie Den.

I thought the same thing about the prizes! and it doesnt even mention the participation prize so whether its even worth the effort? We all know the people (or person) who will win will likely be someone whos got a ton of CW already and have serious digital art skills. (aka people who don't need the prize csc or money)

Which only makes me want to complain more but this is about the economy fail atm :P

Would love to know their criteria for even making it to the voting stage..

With all due respect, I thought about the situation prior to making this thread. :P

I stand by my opinion that CSC, a HUGE chunk of SP AND a copy of the item is overkill. I doubt that there would be a shortage of entries if the SP wasn't included.

Besides, the focus of this thread is the mixed messages being sent by staff due to asking for ways to get SP out of circulation while excessive amounts are being added. The fact that the people that will most likely be benefitting from this are people that are already CSC/SP rich just makes it a even worse decision.

Klassikal raised a good point.

Yeah, people got a lot of SP last time, but it was taken from sales of the items, meaning it wasn't generated out of nowhere. I'm really wondering why they're not keeping it that way

Had to quote that.. +++++ it and a billion other things not that it will make a difference.. I doubt they will change it now anywho and they love their regular CW makers

I guess you didn't read my edit.

I think the main problem is that they're giving to people who usually don't know what to do with that much sP. There's still money being circulated out since users need to spend sP to buy the winning entries, but the prize money is going to people who are more likely to flail helplessly than to actually spend it.

Considering the last contest, if each winner was getting 90%+ of the money spent on their entries and one user can make about 600m on just two winning entries, then that was a lot of money that was taken out of circulation before circulating most of it back to one user.

I think 50mil is pretty darn extreme, especially when given with 2k CSC! That 50mil is like 20% of all the sP I've got at the moment!

Because they made 400+m after that, LOL.

Actually, I'm surprised they didn't just make it like...5%-10% cut or something. They'd still probably make quite a bit, but it wouldn't be anywhere near as extreme.

Yeah, but the 400+M was already on the site. It's not generating money out of thin air.
