I've never tried free-motion before (need to get myself a darning foot or whatever they call it for that), but some of the designs I've seen sewn like that, look amazing! :D

she's got one of those long arm fancy smansy quilting machines

oooo now that is definitely perfect :D Apparently you can quilt on a normal sized machine, but the long arm is meant to mean there's less moving of fabric and more sewing.... or something like that ;)
