Coding is so peculiar. I'm using chrome too, but I could see it? Likewise it's so odd that part of a profile would just need to be told not to have a border opposed to being told to have one -laugh- I've noticed link/heart hovers are like that too, for me at least. Whenever I hover over either on any pets, they have an underline unless they've been coded not to.

Thank you for the very kind compliments! The thing with me is that I really, really love finishing my pets, and I try to do enough things with my characters that I can see them staying with me and never fading away. But I can definitely see that being a problem. I've gotten rid of a lot of pets over the years just because I didn't feel like I could do anything more with their characters. Sometimes I regret it, not going to lie.

Yes! Bonsai mostly. I'm actually sitting in front of my pomegranate who I kept indoors this winter. . . who just decided to flower. I think it was her protest to getting a haircut.

I also somtimes have that problem which made me more and more name picky and now I ended up only wanting names I have for existing OCs allready and that have allready consepts and some background.

I allways try to work on my pets here and there (TC, art, writing, profile). My problem actually is not that I have not enough ideas.. more that I have too much ideas.. but nor enough time and not enough pet slots ^^.

At the moment I am mostly working on Areios, Kyron, Carus and Justus and my main problem is allways getting their stories nto a nice form, cause I am no native English speaker. So most of my stuff is writen down in German and I have a hard time getting all that stuff into nice English. At least I was able to start with Kyron story (which still needs beta-reading and is not finished atm, so there still willl be typos and spelling errors).

So if somone is interessed, feel free to read:

@ Liberty It's a double edged sword y'know? -laughs- Like on one side you want to have at least a formed coherent thought that's solid enough to warrant keeping around (so you can see new items and go AHH I need that for ___ and at a whim you can add onto them, or they can add on to themselves as it typically goes), but equally you never want to feel like it's "the end, I can't go on after this". It's too final, like the end of a TV show or movie ;__;!

And omg the story of my life is getting rid of something and then completely regretting it |DD! I've actually tossed out a few names only to stalk them senselessly for YEARS waiting to get them back (Azrael and Chino, and I had Georgette then got rid of her only to apply for her once and not get her only to apply AGAIN and get her -dies-)

Personally I"ve been trying to focus on Tobias and Chester as of this week (I basically work in circles, because that's a sure fired way to never accomplish anything |D). I got a short bit of writing on Tobi's profile at least-- short but I think I did him some justice, at least. I have a basic idea for actual writing (crazy small town sacrifices yesss) but who knows when I'll get that far xD! Chester's had some growing pains but we're going back to his roots so I have a few pages of incoherent ramblings and notes for him... because the best thoughts and ideas always come to me at work when all I have is paper or a phone. Or when I'm in the shower and I have neither |DD rip all those thoughts, forgotten down the drain... punintended.

No worries at all :). Bonsai trees are so lovely, and it's awesome that your pomegranate decides to flower. Wow! My grandparents used to have bonsais when I was a little kid. I could tell then that they weren't easy plants to grow. On the other hand, I always joke that I'm the kind who can't even keep cactus alive sobs :(.

BTW, totally love the writing on Tobias' profile (man, stop being moderate and saying your English sucks!). Also, why haven't they invented the thing that can type out whatever we are thinking yet? I think we all need that.

Don't feel bad about your English. I can totally relate though. I was doing a lot of reading last summer, and it really got to me that I may never utilize English as good and freely as those writers. I deleted all my pet stories then, and was just feeling so awful. But then, you know what, it didn't matter in the end. I wanted to write, and we would all naturally improve if we keep doing a thing :).

I think your writing is actually good! And your knowledge in the language is definitely sufficient. Have you tried directly writing in English instead of translating? Sometimes I find translating actually harder, and I usually do my draft in relatively plain and grammatically incorrect English xD, and then, fix the writing later. Again, don't feel bad. You should read my stories when I just started writing. They were just sooooooooo bad xD. I used to put up a notice on my pet profiles, telling people that I wasn't a native English speaker, and if they spotted any errors or whatnot in my writing, they could kindly sMail me. And people were actually very friendly about it, and a few of them even got to the point to help me edit a story. So definitely keep doing what you love to do, and the community is here to support ❤!

My english is tolerable only because it's my first and only language -snort- Then again, the fact that I'm american and mostly,usually use full words and some punctuation probably puts my writing in the top 25%, sadly. Really sadly r__r;; THERE SHOULD BE A THINK TO TEXT MACHINE oh oh I'd pay so much for that q__q! Technology is failing us.

Then again if such a technology was kin to the amazing autocorrect on phones, we're probably better off without it xD! So many "son of a ducking butch!"

Aww thx so much. I often think others find my writing boring and that it sounds to "simple". I tend to write in English now and only use rough concepts in German, so I know where I wanna go with my stories. But I still lack a lot of words somhow, but it gets better (hopefully ^^). It is allways nice to have people that look at my stuff and tell me when I have spelling errors or help me to improve my writing skills. Sadly a lot of people seem to be affraid to be offending, when they do so. I appreciate it, when people help me.

My older stuf is translated.. my newer stuff I tend now to write directly in English. My main problem now is the lack of words somtimes and alternative words to begon my entence and stuff.

You should give yourself more credit on that! But I know what you mean. I have to say I've seen some pretty bad writing by adult native English speakers. I guess it's true knowing a language doesn't make somebody a writer automatically.

Ah, I see. Vocabulary problem then! I have the same issue. Though I don't think there's an easy way around it :(. Reading good books/stories does really help. Sometimes I do "cheat", like looking up words on thesaurus, and see what alternatives come up that I could use.

People do tend to keep quiet about typos or grammatical errors when they don't know if you appreciate it. But like I said, if you put up a note on your profile or pet profiles, they would usually come forward and be helpful :).

So I just went over all my pets and wrote down a list of all the ones that don't even have a spec of a character right now... I did not like the results. ;-;

There's nothing wrong with simplistic writing, tbh (or profiles, for that damn matter but that's a horse of another color). Often people have this habit of trying to sound smarter than they are by using big elaborate fancy words describing shit no one cares about (really her fluttering eyelashes that danced upon her rosy cheeks like tiny whiskers of a kitten tickling her oh god no one cares can she die now??) in an attempt to make their soulless husk of an character seem more likable, and to make themselves seem smarter. Typically, they fail in both departments.

tl;dr simple isn't always a bad thing xD!

In regards to differnt words to use instead of a particular word, have you considered sites like: http://www.synonym.com/? Personally I abuse that feature on word, but either way it's extremely helpful when it comes to finding other ways to say something you're tired of using.

.. or if you're bad at spelling like myself, trying to use the simple term of a word to figure out the word you actually wanted to use |D

I can sheepishly admit to having read enough fanfiction to know that I don't give myself enough credit when it comes to writing. However, I feel like admitting that you're good (not good, really.. exceptional) at something will lead to the ego becoming inflated which in then turns to pompous "everything I do is gold, I don't need to improve or even keep my skill sharp pft pft" and then you turn into garbage and your ideas run dry and you start to question your sanity. It's easier to just assume you're mediocre at best, so you'll always have room to improve.

.. auto correctors, ahh -laughs- They have much room to improve |D! Always good for a few laughs, but I especially love it when you misspell something like "tge" instead of "the" and then the phone goes "That must be a word :'D! I'ma suggest this from now on, instead of the!" It also does that with capitals so I'll be typing and suddenly Crap is always capitalized.

I feel like you need to pretend you REALLY really have to do something else. Like homework, taxes... work, or watch this tv show you REALLY want to see, or man you're so tired you should take a nap. That's always when motivation hits me the hardest, when I'm tired/showering/at work and don't have the time or resources to do things.

Oh man. So. I'm doing almost a complete overhaul on pets, with the sudden surge in my pet slots (holyshit49), I'm like.. what the hell do I do with all this space. Some characters that I'm not as attached to, or am no longer roleplaying or whatever are being shuffled off the site to make room for more subeta themed pets/fan pets.

Right now, on top of my project to find names/pets and come up with ideas for them my BIGGEST project is Guard!

Over the past 5-6 years I've always had this idea to do something big with him involving the community. Now I'm also bringing in more characters along with Guard and his feline counter-part, Jinx.

My ultimate goal/fantasy is a series of short stories that make up his case files as an agent/detective. But to make them more exciting I want each "client" to actually be a pet belonging to someone else. I just haven't had the time to sit down, work on the application/form/information and see about recruiting people to submit their stuff and join me. Along with those stories would be the capers involving Jinx. So far I've added two other characters, two girls! Whether they end up being sweethearts to the pair or not I haven't quite figured out yet. lol

I also really want a pet that's basically just a treasure trove. There are so many items on subeta that I love that I just don't have a use for and I just want him/her to.. exist to hold/guard them. LOL.

If you find someone willing to do so, I might have to borrow them to do the same thing for me!

Alas, it seems I have a problem. So I've just returned from a rather lengthy hiatus and my pets are in need of some serious overhauling and profile TLC. But rather than getting started on my existing pets, what do I do? Why, I activate a GA on a whim and adopt a new pet of course!

Yeah, good going me, hows about you finish working on the pets you currently have before adding new names and characters to the mix.

I feel like working on them would be easier if I actually knew how to code properly. I've drawn up designs and stories for almost all my pets, it's just matter of making it into a profile that won't burn the eyes of people who see it...or cause me to tear out my own in frustration. Ah well, there seems to be a few tutorials around, I guess there's as good a place as any to start. But I will the thought of wrapping my head around coding frightens me a little.

(P.S this topic is awesome for raising motivation - it's great to read everyone else's stuff)
