I remember training on Neo... that was such a nightmare... you either spent a fortune getting the codestones(?) you needed for each course... or you went to that shrine every day (and it only liked weaker pets) or if all else failed... you bought a lab ray and zapped your pet and it would take YEARS to get stats over 500 and even then.... you got such lopsided results it was very.... not worth the time.

I remember the wars though well at least 1-2 of them. Just grinding out wins as best you could... I don't remember much of the system it's been forever.

But when I joined Subeta and saw how the training system at the time was sP based... I was relieved, I could afford to train my pet and not need to find some stone set in order to get one lesson in. Granted for the first year I just trained for the sake of training. I liked seeing my pet's stats grow. I battled rarely but was never good at it. I remember the Pirate/Islander war and how managing to beat the Hard Challenger was like the biggest accomplishment ever.

Then I kinda paid very little mind to battling until like... hn 2009/2010? Sadly it didn't last long and I regret not remaining into it at that time, sold off everything and just trained my pet but didn't really bother with battling. 2013 rolled around and for some reason I wanted to just... battle. I missed out on the Luminaire battle plot and the Cruise Ship challengers and I kinda was way too weak for the Masq plot Assassins (and Slavam) but it gave me something to strive for.

Battle does have its ups and downs and it CAN be frustrating but that happens with every game, you're gonna get sick of it for a little while but if you just take your break and come back, it's worth it. I'm glad to be training more than one pet, very pleased to be able to beat up challengers I never thought I would. Battling is an... acquired taste I guess, you either like it or you don't. [edit] tl;dr I LIKE BATTLING. :p

You may well be right, that OPB scrolls like the Sancturia may be scarce then, too, but I still stand my point, that some useful items simply ARE harder/more expensive to come by. And should be. While there are many things I also would love to own and are out of my reach, I believe that's the icing on the cake, 'cause you know, how it is with having access to absolutely everything...

And I think to remember a few ingredients got retired in order to stop people having too many of them. Another step to fix the BC.

Yeah back when Sancs were all the rage, mods didn't really want people having too many. But then everything-scrolls went off the charts so that's kind of a moot point now.

News Flash: I got 5 amulets from Quentin and I got 2 tomes from Mage. Usually I just get shards. LOL.

The reason they were originally retired was that the price of all the ingredients to make a Sanct were way less than to buy a Cobalt from the Millionaire Center. They also use to be in the vend rotation and that was removed at the same time. They weren't supposed to be retired forever, just as periodically needed to keep what are basically the same spell around the same price.

In regards to the godlies being re-released, it doesn't matter to me, since I know I can never save up enough sP for them. They will just forever be on my wl(if I even have them on there). I am excited about the books though and items for the collections.

I am super excited for the scroll library. I can't wait for that!!

Thanks for posting the graph of how many pets were in each tier. I always find that so interesting. I remember it being posted like a year, year and a half ago. The numbers have sure gone up!

I do know that I was very intimated and apprehensive when I first started battling. Heck I still am sometimes. When I am asked about battling, I warn them it is time consuming and very costly. So don't get into it unless you are willing to wait to see results.

I do also find it boring after a bit. It is very repetitive, hence also why I sometimes will go a month without doing BQ's because I find them to be a chore. But that is just me also maybe being lazy. lol

The thing with battling is, If you don't enjoy it purely for what it is, It is pretty tedious and boring. It takes years to get a really strong pet (or BILLIONS in boosting...or both) and there's no kind of instant gratification. There's no real reward in it either. I know you get loot + exp, but if you don't actually 'enjoy' the tediousness of battling, it's much easier -and cheaper- to just buy the loot from the ss. Also weapons. To get really good ones, It's frickin expensive! I was never intimidated by pets bigger than my tier nothing though, I saw it as a challenge to play catch up! ^_^

With regards to the pirate shop, I spent 1B on the 3 headed monkey....looking forward to seeing how much sP I effectively poured down the drain :p

I didnt keep a log this time, but I put all my new drops in a shop and there are 6 water amulets in there. I think I got 2 or 3 from Fishy and the same from Sandragon. or 4 from 1 and 2 from the other. My memory is from being Blonde. :P

Can anyone tell me a bit about the high scores in the BC? I remember on Neo they would count the number of victories each pet had against a given opponent and that was one of my biggest incentives for battling over there. With the implementation of infinite exp after the tenth win, I think having a similar high score table would definitely motivate battlers (or, at the very least, me) to battling way past the tenth win on every opponent.

Have the staff mentioned anything about high scores in the BC? Sorry if this is a topic that's been talked about at length, but I've scoured this thread and haven't seen anything about it. ^-^
