Probably should search the DC a little bit then. ;) I usually don't.
mmmmmmmmm rice is always good! I am wishing I had bought some for my chili.
yes. yes you should
I'm confused. You two eat rice with your chili? Really?
IDK if lypsyl does but I do. Or IN to be more precise. My mom used to make rice and put it in the bottom of the bowl with the chili on top. When I started making my own chili as an adult I just put the rice (instant) in the chili at the very end of cooking. It is yummy and makes it more filling and for a family it makes it go further. And it is yummy.
We do the chili and then add cheddar cheese to the top in our bowls. We eat it with crackers either crushed up or I usually scoop of the meat and beans and eat it off the crackers. Never heard anyone doing it with rice.
I would sometimes serve it with cheese too. And sometime sour cream, and it was always expected to be served with cornbread, by both husbands! I got some cornbread crackers to have with mine. IDK how they will be, never had them before. Probably not too great but hopefully at least the basic flavor.
There is very little I won't eat with rice. Can sub rice for any pasta in any dish. For potatoes, there may be one or two dishes that don't work with rice, but not many.
I don't eat chili very often, but when I do I usually eat it with bread, but rice would work too.

Sour cream? Cornbread? I'm at a loss. Strange people. :P It sounds bad, but I'm wondering what sour cream tastes like in chili now....
I like rice, but usually we just eat it with gravy or tomato w/juice. Never really substituted it for other things. You wouldn't just eat orzo when you want to replace the pasta even though it is pasta itself.
the sour cream is particularly good if you have chili on the spicier side. Being a southerner I am really surprised you don't have cornbread with yours. Strange!~
Wow, you found a raffle ticket while responding on the forums. Check it out in your inventory!
About time
Congrats! and no, no cornbread with chilli.
thanks. You should try it sometime. IO would not steer you wrong!
I think I might pass. :P But I will try sourcream.
whatever. You don't know what you are missing! :P
We have been talking about it long enough now I am ready to eat my chili,. back in a bit!
Later! :) I think got hungry and left too. :P
Rice is my favourite starch. Its mildly flavoured so it doesn't clash with anything. I love it plain, with butter, next to anything. Or with a tomato sauce, or white sauce. It can be used to moderate the heat of a spicy dish. To soak up the sauce in a saucy dish. It can be a filler, used in place of bread crumbs in hamburgers or meatballs.
I eat it a lot more than I eat potatoes and pasta combined. The only thing I eat more is bread because I usually have a toast at breakfast and a sandwich at lunch.

I've been trying to eat yogurt for breakfast/10am break and I always have a sandwich when I go to work.
We do use Rice in eggs sometimes. It's usually when we have leftover rice from Sunday dinner or something.
came back to say that if you have chili with cheese, cour cream and cornbread you are bascially having the same flavors as you do with a taco :D
Pretty much isn't it. need a little lettuce. :D
I never eat lettuce so that didn't even occur to me.
The chili was really good. The crackers were really disappointing, which considering I didn't have very high expectations from them in the first place should really tell you something.
