It's my unoffical, and very quickly made, entry for the Halloween Contest. :P I can't win, but I figured I should do whatever everyone else was having to do as well.

I totally agree with , love that cheeky smile, it looks a lot like you!

Lypsyl I've been meaning to ask you about that "tax" business, is it on our shops or galleries or what were they thinking of doing? Im wondering if I should start thinking about emptying out my galleries that are basically holding stations to sell or put in my vault or what.

Um.. before I head back to bed Im wondering when Shinwa changed from resetting at midnight to the old way, anyone know?

Ignore that - Found a post on the battle forum "Quest chron didn't reset, but shinwas did! Good thing I didn't get a chance to do any of those quests yesterday. I hope they fix the chron soon."

Its not set in stone, and it may not happen (crossed fingers), but they've been talking about taxing purchases. That when someone buys, say a 1000 sp item from your shop, you get 990 and the "site" gets 10. They've also talked about doing it the other way, where the buyer gets charged extra. But I think if they do it, the person who gets taxed will be the seller.

It wouldn't apply to anything in galleries. It would just come into play when something is purchased user to user. If they do implement it, I don't know if they plan on adding it to trades, or how they would go about "taxing" items traded for other items. Anyhow, if they do decide to do such a thing, I will either not sell my expensive stuff, or do it exclusively through trades.

I understand that they feel the economy is "broken" but taxing purchases is a stupid idea. We play for fun and adding microagressions like that makes the game suck.

I think I've asked about it before, haven't I? I don't get it. Subeta's a game not economics 101. If a game is going to take a sales-tax page out of the really-real worlds tax book then it should also have to pay interest on banked profits, have a small-business lending process and be prepared to be swamped with tax returns in the spring shouldn't it? And that's just silly.

Altho I may not know much about economics I cant help but wonder if the change from spending sP for nicer items to spending CSC changed Subeta into a "Real money matters most" place might have something to do with this problem they're talking about.

I mean, it's been a steady change but for me the most noticeable is the drop in SBQ sets (2014 there were 16 released sets including Grimdark. This year there are 10 including Grimdark most of which are Professor New with only 2 months to go). The interest in new sets has been pushed from restocking to the Boutique with monthly CSC zodiac releases instead.

Another thing that's been bothering me - I dont know if someone's idea of fixing it was why they nerfed vending by lowering the rarity that vends and making everything new borderline or above the rarity limit which forces people to buy or restock anything new now. Sure restocking is do'able if you can stand scrolling to the bottom of the page every refresh - which I can not, not in a big shop where there seems to be no rhyme nor reason to how things restock anyway. But I'm not going to drop 3m on a cap I'll never wear either.

May very well be way off track here, like I said, I dont understand what they consider "broken" that they didn't break.

One of the draws of the site has been how easy it is to make sP and I think that impression is part of the problem. TPTB hear that and begin to wonder if it is too easy. But it really isn't that easy to make sP, one has to work at it consistently.

Personally I think the issue that there are several ways to make sP that make it seem easy in general. Because one doesn't have to be a whiz at games, or an artist, or specialize in one single area. You don't get bored doing the same thing day after day to make sP. You can do quests one day, play games another, restock on another day. Sure, you can find yourself a niche that works for you, but for me I've always enjoyed the fact that you don't have to specialize. But one of the issues the TPTB are doing to make it "harder" to earn sP is by narrowing the ways to do so. Messing up restocking, vending, interest, quests, etc.

That's totally the wrong way to go about it. Narrowing the scope makes the site more boring, people will simply stop coming here. I mean you always have attrition, people get bored, lives change, etc., but you have to look at why people come here in the first place and why they stay. People really don't come here to work hard, they come here to have fun. The trick is to make them want to work hard because its fun...not try to keep them here by making it impossible to earn anything quickly. You need hooks, instant gratification, that make people have instant fun. Then, in addition to those, you need stuff that has long term payoffs. This site does have both, but they're narrowing that, making it less fun instantly and less fun long term.

You're definitely right about the Cash shop issues. They are putting more emphasis on that and less on everything else. Personally, I think the start of that was CW. CWs were wildly exciting and profitable when they first came out. But problems with exclusive/private sales going public later, or artists getting frozen, etc kinda tarnished that first glow. Then there was a two fold problem, a glut in the market and difficulties connecting people with items they would want. People getting bored with CWs, etc all combined to make them less popular, and therefore less profit for the site. The site got used to that profit and when it went down, started to put more emphasis on the cash shop to make up for it.

I don't think the economy was ever as broken as TPTB thought it was. Sure there is inflation, and a few other issues that need to be addressed, but I think they need to slow down. Try something and wait to see how it goes before trying the next thing. So far they've jumbled everything together adn so can't really tell what has helped and what has made things worse.

Ugh.. My brain must be running super slow because it took me till the last TPTB to work out what it stood for..

I'm hoping that this tax thing doesn't come about.. I'm sure if it does it will reveal that it itself causes another issue like a lot of the 'fixes for the economy' that have been put in place in the past.. Even the simple things like the Free Beer.. Debi and Keith had a discussion in the SB how she said it wasn't a good idea, that it would unbalance things etc. since people would use it to feed pets, Recycle Beast, site lag from auto clickers etc... He disagreed.. Was about a month later that it was closed, the effects are still on going, even Drills has a task that is set up to remove the hoards from Subeta..

I've finally moved all my extra Frey items into a gallery.. I highly doubt any of you are still hunting for any of them but have a look and let me know.. click... Didn't get much time to restock myself and was surprised when I sat down to do some the last couple of days as I actually was able to get an item or a few each restock..

Which brings me to Alegarten and a grip I have.. Firstly it is my fault that for the second year I didn't keep track of how long Alegarten had left to run and little time online, it finished before I'd bought almost anything..

My grip is that I really hate event shops that run like that.. Where all items are there and you just have to buy them.. Really there is no fun in that.. The sink hole aspect of it irks me too but that isn't going to change.. At least this year the timer was set to 5 minutes for the whole event which was a positive move, though from the news post it appears that it was in error so maybe it will be back to the longer times next year..

I really missed the grab bags this year for the Subeta Anniversary too.. Reasoning was apparently so that the items that were released could be gifted to friends for their birthdays so no numbered items etc.. I really liked having collecting them and having them... I liked gifting them to friends for their Subeta Anniversaries and looking at my gallery and thinking wow, I've been here that long and remembering when..

Other things I miss are the Stock Market, it was my little daily gamble as long as something came within my buy range and Trivia.. Oh and wrapping paper.. at least I don't understand why they released Genetech combos that used wrapping paper after they stopped it restocking.. Guess that follows the logic that was the zapper cure that used a retired item also..

Oh.. blushes.. That is more than one grip, guess I was on a roll..

I love how you're able to break things down in a way that makes sense, and I totally agree. Narrowing the scope of what makes the site fun is just not a good idea. I don't see why being able to make sP easily is a bad thing, it's not like we're going to corner the market on it.

And like said before and what also said, this year's anniversary was awful without the bags. It made no sense that they went from that to nothing.

Faerie we are part of the most accurate and most used fansite online - we can't gripe anywhere else BUT here. It feels good to get it out, doesn't it?

AND! About your gallery - I could really use a Marauder Parrot Beanbag for my collection (I got one from for my hoard) - anything in My Frey Hoard you would like to trade for it?

Someone let me know when Medicontra has been added to our database and I'll finish off the new items and get the old ones from Home Appliances switched over. As for its items - I take it this is their "solution" for restocking? If so, it'll make user shops obsolete in no time, won't it? sighs Why not.

Yeah, I agree, there's plenty to complain about :). I keep meaning to make little rants and they often turn into huge discourses instead!

Oh yeah, the free beer was a huge disaster, and yet I can't complain too much I did take full advantage of that mistake.

I missed the grab bags too. It wasn't just the items inside, it was the whole subdued atmosphere of the anniversary. Keith said that it was because anniversary items didn't have any long term value, so lets scrap it. Well how about instead making just a couple of items with the year on it, then a few more generic party type items with no year. Then he suggested it was because they were too busy. Which I don't get, you plan these 'events' over the course of the year and put in time to make the stuff. Its not like the anniversary was a "surprise" event or anything.

I don't miss the stock market, but really miss trivia. Mostly I'm annoyed at how they are shrinking the site, removing things, or ignoring old broken things. I still miss Item Identifier.

I'm interested in the: [item2=Wooden Ledger]

Most of my extra Frey stuff is already in my shop, but you can take a look and see if you need anything. I was going to buy extra Alegarten stuff, but ended up buying stuff for someone who wasn't able to be online, so didn't get a chance to grab extras.

Yes, buyable shops, as opposed to restocking shops is both an sP sink and a restocking fix...though restocking wasn't broken until they broke it...sigh.

Since I pinged all'yall above, if anyone is able to catch a Professor New Surf Powder from SBQ please sell it to me. It's the only thing Im missing from the giveaway sets and am having trouble catching one.

I was afraid of that, it's the way they set up the outdoors shop and I thought what the hell are they trying to do? Blech.

It actually did feel good.. and yep, the anniversary didn't feel like anything at all.. Someone did say it was rather like having friends over for a movie than a party..

Sending the Marauder Parrot Beanbag your way..

I totally agree with your comment about Lypsyl being able to break things down in a way that makes sense..

Taking advantage of the free beer was the smart thing, I only wish I was smarter at the time... I figured it was going to be around forever since Keith was defending it so adamantly..

Oh.. another thing I miss is the old Mystery Box.. When it restocked Holiday Shop items.. and of course the Holiday Shop itself.. I don't consider myself a great restocker but will always give it a go, the MB was great to get holiday items from when you knew the formula that was used.. Since items could have the same possible cost in the MB it still was a sink hole of sorts and the R and SR items came up for purchase still at a restocking sort of frequency or % chance, so it wasn't like it was throwing up them all the time.. It took me around 25 hours of playing with the MB to get a SR that I was hunting.. Of course I bought other items in the meantime..

I had my favorite stocks and could often make 10 million + on a 100k investment as long as I was patient..

I must admit I didn't play Item Identifier often myself..

The new shop trend is a worry.. guessing if it does all go that way it will save on having to run the shop restocking coding and users shops.. A payoff only for Subeta servers and a huge loss for users.. Guess only things that users shops will have for sale are event, game prize, CS items etc..

Sending the Wooden Ledger your way..

Thank you for the book!

Its so funny, I used to complain about the holiday shop. I was stupid. Its so much worse now without it. In the past at least you knew where things were going to restock and had a chance, especially with the mystery box, and the one vending machine that included the holiday shop.

I really don't understand the site's hate for restocking. Other decisions they've made I might have disagreed with, but at least I understood. This one just bewilders me.

I seem to be having an issue with 'add item'.. Was working fine for me last night.. Just now I've tried adding the new drops of Candy Scorn, both times it has told me they and then it was added however they aren't appearing in the SBL database for me at all.. and also not as an incomplete item..

I did manage to get the Black Zebra Stripes Tattoo Sheet (Right Arm) added just before I stumbled off to bed last night using the wearable cron.. So I'll try the other wearables with that and see if it works.. Not going to help with the none wearables though..

edit.. Oh and Amber lowered the possible wait time on the Pumpkin Patch this morning from 80 minutes to 40 minutes max.. She also mentioned that now she can actually do so she is planning on lowering the times between ToTing and Pumpkin Patching significantly in the last day and/or night..
