Stickers. Literally Stickers. I cannot stress this enough head desk Stickers.

I went to a meet up where we were sort of lead to believe that achievements for plushies, stickers and beanbags would not be made harder BY DOING EXACTLY WHAT JUST HAPPENED. This isn't just making collecting "harder" it's making it impossible, even for dedicated collectors. I don't even want to admit how many SP or how many rare/valuable items I have traded for rare stickers, but I am kind of getting tired of DREADING new events because I know something like this is going to happen. :(

Goodness, 9 pages. I'm here now - let me figure out what I can answer! (Keith wasn't a part of this project, please direct all questions to me!)

Whilst I gather together some answers here, check out THIS POST for my response to that particular suggestion :)

Just a little disclaimer. I don't think anyone have asked for more prizes to be distributed. Everything I said (and hopefully what the others said too) was to be taken into consideration for future events, as this BotB is already over and prizes have been distributed already, nothing else to do. Thanks :)

Just to kind of put into prospective about how rare these items are: I had to spend 200mil+ on the four plushies, two flyers, and two copies of the book. I'll have to shell out at least 40mil more to get the other two flyers and I haven't even seen most of the Horns and Roses prizes for sale yet. That is absolutely ridiculous given how small of a plot this is and how much I participated. I only earned 6 prizes, the two everyone got and then the four for the game. The fact that I played that game enough to earn the sticker and be in the top x% should have mean something more then it did I feel like.

There was no reason that everyone who supported a genre couldn't have the plushie and flyer associated with it. There is no reason the top exclusive prizes had to be a freaking book. This is a band, make it some sort of musical wearable or something.

Given how hard I worked and how little I got just really makes me mad. It's been a few days and I'm still upset over it whereas usually I get over it pretty quickly. I know nothing can be done about it now, but I really hope all this feedback is put into prospective for later events.

Also this event ruined me for supporting any team/character/whatever I might personally like more. From now on, I'm just going with the popular vote. It was obvious who the winning teams were likely to be, but I decided to vote for who I personally liked. And I was screwed because of it.

Edit: I wanna add this is; Rah please don't feel like I'm blaming you personally for everything. Overall I had fun with this event and the set-up was cute. I'm more upset about the mixed messages we keep getting about how top prizes shouldn't be consumables and stuff shouldn't be uber rare then this happens. About how we should always be rewarded for our hard work and the effort you put in should be paid back in prizes. I just want this feedback to be taken into account so that hopefully this never happens again. Also I may have spent a shit ton on prizes, but if there was a way to add more I would say go for in immediately. I would be annoyed sure since I spent all my sp, but I think the more people who can enjoy the items, the better.

That literally kinda makes me disgusted with how prizes were handled. Literally, disgusting. For all that you didn't even get the special winning group items, I really really hope staff takes a hard long look at that. Especially when anyone who supported HnR got 200m+ in items ONTOP of the group stuff, and they didn't have to even do anything to get this stuff.

I already hated this event, but now I feel even worse about how this entire disaster was handled and I hope to never see an event play out like this again. I'm really glad I didn't waste my time playing that one game, and I'm with you. I will never attempt to enjoy another event on subeta, I'll just aim to pick the "winner".

I just dont understand why they put items that were for our collectons as prizes. There are some avid collectors on here for beanbags, stickers, plushies. And after this event you made it clear we will not be able to complete our collections, you made that impossible for us. I have money stuck into my sticker and beanbag collections trying to complete my collections, so can someone explain to me why any of us should spend any more money on stickers or plushies that you put in the cash shop since you killed off our chances of completing our collections. The winners deserved special prizes but I dont think they should have been given prizes from collections since if they sell them that just sets a user up for buying them for massive millions which I wont do. You give a sticker out for people entering a drawing contest knowing fully well that a lot of people couldnt do that, not everyone is an artist.

If we're talking about this event in general, I'd be very happy if we never see it again.

There is so much that can be done with Subeta lore or events like the first EPICon that people really enjoyed that are much more worth repeating. Peka-Boo was really flawed and showed it from start to finish. I also believe that it was the worst event that Subeta's ever had, and hopefully ever will have.

I have thought this so many times. Whenever a user complains about broken availability ratios, the staff claims that some items are meant to be nearly impossible to obtain..... and then release books in the cash shop for 750csc. Or a set of 12 books at 150csc each. If I'll never read all of the books to my pet anyway, why would I dish out all that money for your CS books when intel boosters are cheap? 8|
...But I do it anyway, because I'm an idiot and part of me worries that someday the impossible-to-get things will be possible to get, and then it will be harder to go back and obtain those CS items. But the influx of book prizes has made me want to stop caring and save my paycheck for better things. The obscene amount of money I've spent on cash shop books and game prizes/referral prizes/this plot/etc could buy me a LOT of Don Julio.

Of COURSE this feedback is being taken into account! This was the first event of its kind, and I knew there would be some problems with it, I just didn't anticipate it being quite this much!

I've been trying to write up a post answering things, but I'm just not sure how to counter unhappiness. I'm sorry that you didn't like the way prizes were distributed, and in the future if/when this event happens again I can definitely see where to make improvements! This was the bad first pancake that needs throwing out, I think. But we have the basis to make this so much better, and I think that we can :)

Those who were asking as to why there was such a delay - that was mainly due to organising meetings with people over several timezones, both the winners and the art team!

Also, I think I'm seeing that people that created a band but then didn't support a band didn't get a prize at all? Is that correct? Anyone that either created a band, joined a band or supported a band should have got the participation prizes. Please make a ticket if this is not the case!

As to making other band finalists and genre winners get something a little special - I believe I can implement some achievements and forum titles, and possibly trophies. We haven't done trophies in such a long time, and I do think that would be nice to do.

I wasn't expecting a unique item as a genre winner, so there's that. It would have been a delightful surprise, sure, and given that there were only six genre finalists (and an extra runner up, whoo, grannies) I think I was half-expecting to have a sort-of themed prize in the bunch, like an apple or cat item for the grannies, etc, especially since it took a month for the items to come out. (edit: apparently there are a few themed items out there for a few winning bands, I guess the flyer could sort of be considered to be sort of themed toward our band, although I'm really not sure how widespread these items are yet. I'm pretty sure we in the band didn't just get the flyer, so...remind me why we wanted to be genre winners again?).

Also, I'd like to echo what said on page one or two. Those of us who were finalists in the contest broke our butts, every single group, to literally make and create a fun time/event for the folks who were kind enough to support us. Even bands that didn't make the cut spent lots of time and effort making things fun for our fellow users, as best we could, because the sum total of the event's participation was one game which didn't seem particularly fun even for the folks who were good at it.

So yes, I feel that the genre prizes are unequal to the effort we all put in. And knowing that a winning team's supporter who played the game once gets more recognition than genre winners....that kind of galls.

Whoever said on the front page that next time we should all sit back, make no effort, and click on the one band that looks like a winner has it on the nose. There's little incentive now to be creative, the message here seems to be "If you're not number one, heck with you."

Why have genre winners if the reward is less than what others have gotten? I don't want this to be all about rewards, because it's not, but it feels a little bit like salt in the wound.

After prizes came out my band partner apologized to me profusely for "convincing me" to participate in a genre winner band, because she knew I would have supported the winner if I hadn't joined the band and she thought I valued pixels more than her friendship and the pretty significant amount of fun our band had. I wouldn't trade the experience, but I won't lie. It feels like we actually did walk away from Peka with "we broke our butts for this event and all we got was this lousy t-shirt" award, not to mention our own supporters. They broke their butts too.

That anyone's reduced to apologizing to someone else for being a genre band winner instead of a supporter is just so whacked.

The priorities. They are wrong.

Can you at least answer why the top prize was a book and food item? It has been said numerous times recently by staff that they were going to move away from making consumables as top tier prizes since they get used and are gone. The plushies I can be annoyed about but at least those were given out to more people and you can find them in shops. Why does it always have to be a book!

- which is a food item? Do you mean the candy bowl? That wasn't just a top prize item, it was an item given to finalists as well.

But the idea is to give out things as prizes that are desirable. If we put useless items as prizes then they wouldn't be much of a prize, and we try to balance it out by hitting 1-2 collections with a harder to get item per event, so it's not just all wearables.

Six different items of desirable for clicking on the right group, though?

Next time there's an event with a paid component like this, I am unlikely to purchase. Both because as mentioned by someone earlier it was kind of useless after missing the VIP tent one day, and because I don't want to put money behind prizes so unbalanced. There is so much about this event that could have been planned or explained better, and I know I'm going to be wary next time I see an announcement of something that doesn't look better pinned down because of this cautionary example.

I really hope there was more than one person making decisions as to prizes and distribution. Knowing Keith wasn't involved in any of this is kind of ... disturbing. I'm a new-ish member, so I don't know if he's involved or not, but I find that very ... strange, especially if only one person was there to make decisions (because input is needed and input from others could have avoided this debacle). It would also explain why people's questions as to when the faq was to come out were left essentially unanswered and why we never got a faq if only one person was in charge. ;s If I knew things were so shaky behind the scenes, I would not have expected so much from the event. First time or not, there's really no excuse for how much of a mess this was when it came to prize distribution. Maybe staff needs to hear input from users that are actually participating in the event before they make their decisions if they didn't realize it would be a disaster? Just saying.

what i want to know is the reasoning behind the prize distribution. why did users who sent in thousands of points to the wrong team get the equivalent of participation trophies, while users who clicked the right support button ended up with a vertiable dragon's hoard of prizes? why was luck rewarded over effort in this event?

I'd like it. I'm butthurt because I broke my hands trying to play Street Team and trying to coordinate everyone's style for our overall look. I think a lot of us tried really hard (I think about and ) to gain supporters. I am in no way angry at HnR, I'm hella happy for them because they were pretty babes. But what makes me sad is that genre winners didn't get anything interesting, anything worth the win (to put it harshly). So yeah, call me a child but I'd like to get achievements and a title. I'd be even more childish and hope for a title reflecting Tempest Sky cus I loved my group and bandmates.

I might not have had the highest individual or cumulative scores, but I spent hours almost every day submitting scores, with my average game lasting well over an hour. And I got how many prizes? 6. Like many here, I'm not begrudging the HnR supporters who got the band items. After all, they supported the band and we didn't.

HOWEVER. The prizes for those who scored the most is absolutely obscene & insulting. I worked like a mad woman, and that was between my crazy work hours & real life obligations. I believe that my combined sent scores were in the range of 37k. Not the highest, no. But really? I get SIX freaking prizes when others who put forth significantly less work received how many? At least with a point & prize shop system, even with item exclusivity, users have the opportunity to see how their individual work paid off for them in the end. I don't feel like my time was worth it, and time is a valuable commodity nowadays. Frankly, this event was SO not worth my time. It was a cute idea, yes. However, given as much time as you've had to determine item distribution, this is just pathetic. I get that this is a new area, but did you even try to look at the situation from a common user's position and see how the item distribution might ruffle a few feathers? (Meaning, everybody who worked like crazy but had the misfortune of promoting a team that wasn't HnR)

I just don't understand how someone thought it was a good idea that people whom simply happened to join the right team could theoretically get more than someone that worked their guts out to get in the highscores.

To be honest I was expecting this event to be graded like an RS war I remember participating in wayyyy back when that I think was the Omen Islands one but it was so long ago I don't even know... At any rate, as far as I remember the number of people that joined a team didn't matter, it was the average score of the users that determined who won. I thought something similar would happen here, with the addition of earning x number of points for having a person support the band or something like that, but from the start if you supported a less popular band you were screwed... It didn't matter how dedicated their fans were or how many point they earned per person, because a small group couldn't compete with a throng and that's that.

I'm not after wearables, plushies, food, stickers, etc, because I'm not a collector, and I don't regret trying to help my friends out by supporting their band, I just feel like this was a poor way to distribute prizes. The prize shop was a brilliant idea and this is such a huge step back that it honestly makes me wonder if there are times when people just like to cause controversy by making these off the wall decisions. Most people seemed to recall EPICon fondly, in spite of all of the gaming, but very few people seem satisfied with this event...

Honestly, if the foresight of whoever created this event is so flawed, perhaps they should not be involved with them in the future.

Honestly, I feel like it maybe should have been obvious this was a bad pancake. I can understand that you had your idea of how it would work and it can sometimes be hard to see past that, but there are a lot of staff members and minimods relative to the size of the site as a whole. Maybe next time you should try to get some more feedback from more (and different) people before you go live with something like this. I think in particular the minimods have a better idea of how things are "on the ground" and would have been able to tell you rather swiftly that this would have been an unpopular (and frankly not particularly "fair") way of distributing prizes.

That being said, I would really like to hear your thought process on the prizes for the high scorers. Looking at 's math, I spent about three and a half hours playing a single game, when the average supporter or member of the winning team spent about twenty minutes total, across every score they sent. And someone didn't even have to do that much to be eligible for all of the prizes but one!

I'm not sure if you even care about mollifying me or the other high scorers since we are such a small minority. If you do, I think that at the very least we should have gotten all of the prizes that the supporters of the winning band got. I don't know if the other two winners supported the winner or not, but if they did then they should get second copies of the prizes. Quite frankly, I don't care about achievements or forum titles, especially since I doubt you'd make one of either for just three people. I worked really hard to get my high score because it was specifically advertised that there would be a special prize for doing so. And I'm sorry, but existing site items do not meet my definition of "special".

And as far as redistributing prizes to genre winners or finalists or what have you, I don't think it would upset people as much as you think. Prices still probably wouldn't drop that much, especially not in the long term, and anyone that bought a particular prize and was then awarded it later would just be able to sell it to recoup their losses.

That's what guts me, too. We had more than a few amazing band supporters who routinely scored thousands of points on that game, as well as a wonderful slew of lovely folks who did their level best to do what they could, eking out every single point they could manage. And what did they end up with, for all that time and effort in supporting a genre band winner?

A buttload less than anyone who picked the winning team, whether they played or not.

I feel awful for our supporters, and for other folks who supported other teams who achieved amazing scores even though their bands didn't win. Because honestly, none of the bands would be winners or genre winners at all if not for the efforts of their supporters, and protesting that genre-winning bands didn't get this or that recognition should include the supporters in that protesting.

I said early on in the middle of the event week that I wished people could get essentially "effort scores" for consistently showing up every day and submitting the maximum number of scores they could, regardless of what their scores actually were. I hated - HATED - seeing people come into the thread apologizing profusely for only scoring 200 points a game (which was far better than anything I could manage).

I would love to see people rewarded for putting in the effort, even if they lacked the talent to make thousands of points (although dude, those thousands of point scorers deserve some recognition too) because to me, that's participating in the event as much as you can.

I realize I'm asking for a lot of various prize tiers, here, but it seems incredibly unfair to basically say "well, you showed up every day, did your level best and submitted all your games, but because you're not good at that particular game SCREW YOU."
