I don't know how you're gathering data on who is a "serious collector" or not. I know of a lotttt of people who've stopped actually adding items to collections years ago, but still hold tons of collectible items in a gallery or vault in case someday the complete collection magically becomes obtainable. Because right now, they're not even close to obtainable. It would be stupid of us to add items to collections right now knowing that 1) they can't ever be removed, and 2) it will never be possible to complete the collection no matter how hard you work.

A lot of people would be serious collectors if they knew their goal was attainable with some hard work, but as it is right now, no collection is even worth trying for.

On a topic-related note, while I personally got what prizes I deserved (few prizes for little effort), I am very glad I did not try harder to play that stupid game. I am in shock at how little correlation there is between effort and reward.

Everything else I had to say has already been said.

Sorry if this seems hostile. I've purposely waited a few days to calm down but it's not happening.

I can see that you&;re frustrated here but I cannot answer questions like &;why on earth would you do it this way&; and &;how didn&;t you think of this?&; because these were the decisions that we made and hindsight is a great thing.

The thing is, we can forgive one or two bad decisions, but this event was bad decisions after bad decisions.

Why are there VIP tickets Why are they so limited and random Why were CWs originally allowed in the wishing shrub Why did you have to grant a wish to get a wish Why do you have to wait 45/60 minutes to buy multiple food items Why are all the daily VIP items so ordinary Why are there so few items in the VIP shop period Why is there only one game for BotB Why were not the scores averaged What is the special deal with being a VIP Why was the price distribution so skewed Why were existing items given to top scorers No serious what was the deal with being a VIP

There have been so many questions, so many things people have been having issues over that I cannot see, in any way, how that event was positive for the site. At all. There are so many mistakes done in the planning and execution of the event that I am wondering if Subeta knew what it was doing.

Considering that things like restock wars have been working with averages, I really have issues with the fact that it was decided to go with total points, making BotB less about skill and more about popularity, and it makes me sad because not everyone on Subeta is social.

I would have liked to see the scores, number of people supporting each band and an average, more stats than just the top 2.

the fact that the collections are never going to be remotely attainable (and pls don't say they aren't 'meant to be' because 1. That's ridiculous, that's the whole point and 2. There is ANOTHER achievement for 'having all the things') because I didn't pick the most popular band - seriously makes me not want to even play anymore. The sticker for the cw contest thing was one thing, but to get 73626295 extremely valuable and rare collection prizes IN ADDITION TO six!! customized items for the winner.. is completely insane. I realize this was (one of? or the) first event you did as CD, but more and more just seems like you guys winged it completely. Completely unbalanced and honestly, I don't see how missing is insulting you or anyone else personally. She did an amazing job and I can't imagine taking a look at how she did events would take anything away from the job you are currently doing. It can really only help, and with your own abilities and strengths how can that do anything but make Subeta a better place? Isn't that what we all want here? I know I do.

there is no way for them to quantify "serious collectors" it's like how the unemployment rate doesn't factor in people who have stopped looking for work, because there is no way to tell. I consider myself a collector, I collect most all the things but my account isn't ancient so of course, I don't have nearly as much as some others.. you couldn't go by the HS tables, because half those people probably don't even still play.

I can only play on my phone right now, so there was no way I was gonna be able to play a thrown together flash game. I feel really bad for people who played their asses off ..for the "wrong" team. Idk why it couldn't have been like the cruise, where there was a variety of tasks around the site. It would have been a lot more fun for everyone, and not weighted so terribly.

As I have already said, I am going to look into implementing some achievements and forum titles, and also I feel trophies would be a nice addition.
Also, I don't get why this needs to be looked into adding now...

Didn't revamp the achievement feature before finishing the work that needs to be done on the forums and wardrobe specifically so that there could be achievements for events? Why didn't anyone on staff realize that adding achievements from the get-go would be a good idea? There was one for feeding Oatmeal (what a waste that feature was) but not one for joining a band, or being on a winning band, which from the prize distribution was clearly the main focus of the event... Where is the logic there?

Between what seems to be a real lack of understanding of what users expect from an event, coupled with the "let's fuck over the plushie and sticker collectors" attitude lately, tt makes you guys seem very out-of-touch with the players.

For real. And when you [as a whole, no one specific, though if you take issue with it maybe you know you have a problem] can't professionally handle constructive criticism and user complaints, maybe the problem isn't with the game or the players, maybe it's with the gamemakers.

This whole event was a clusterfuck. I gave my constructive critique in the feedback form and y'all can choose to disregard it or not over there, but seriously, saying "the majority liked everything" seems like "majority" might be by a slim margin.

Are there any staffers that are serious collectors? Or even have the slightest notion of what happens when you released less than 100 of a collection item?

This is exactly how I feel, from the over-hyping of VIP tickets to the distribution of the late prizes.

The people I feel really sorry for are the ones that put in so much support/time/scores into a band that didn't win.

so, i dont get it. we're expected to be lenient because this event is the "first of its kind" somehow, but massively exclusive prizes absolutely had to be awarded because of... some reason, and they were awarded based on band affiliation over effort because we said so.

ok

There was no prize shop because many users were unable to send scores or play the game

Because what the winning band really needs is moar prizes, right? Also, many people couldn't play (meaning participate) but they all really enjoyed it? I don't understand. Just to be clear, it was really ALL about picking the most popular band? Or were the people playing the game hardest carrying the rest of them? Because then sure, of course everyone is going to like an event where they have to do almost nothing (supporter-wise, I'm not talking about the bands) in order to make a billion sP worth of prizes.

sometimes, I don't think 9/10 of them play at all, forget about collect things.. if they did, there wouldn't be all this "ohh, omg really" when things go ass up and we are all upset.

<p>ok
my thoughts exactly. putting together a band at all wasn't rewarded very heavily, which, fine. tons of people did that with varying degrees of effort, sure. but then finalists also didn't really get much for getting that far and didn't have a shot at supporting another band, which, it turns out, is where all the prizes were.

Goodness. I had a such a long post going. I'm going to try and be concise, here, because no one deserves to be subjected to my walls of text.

  1. Who are these masses Subeta speaks about? In 90% of the responses users get we're told about all these majority users who love this, do that, etc. And it always happens to be the exact opposite of what we're complaining about. AKA, generally positive. In most cases the logistics of the numbers you're crunching behind the scenes... let's just say you should send your programmers to the guys who do census collection because WOW.

  2. Making things rare makes me want to get them. Making everything rare and calling it a challenge makes me want to quit. If I have to work for things, that's perfectly one trillion percent understandable. But if finishing a book collection or a sticker collection or a plushie collection requires me to spend 2-500 mill+ on over a dozen+ items? Assuming I can find a seller? Well, darlings, I find that to be a full time job that I cannot and will not devote my relaxation time to. How are newbies supposed to even attempt these collections? How many start them and then realize even old, old, OLD players are abandoning ship? This isn't real life, guys. I understand this is a job for all of staff, and that making things near-impossible to obtain sounds good. But in practice? In practice it doesn't seem like it's turning out so great.

  3. This communication thing? We need to talk about it. Again. Except, for once, it's not about the stability of the site. A, because that was already done a bit ago. (I left my nose out! Yay!) and B, because Subeta is communicating on that part! ❤️ Unfortunately, it's not enough, though. If a hospital communicated with one wing at a time and left the others to their devices it would crash and burn. So, as an add-on number one? Please. Poll. Or something. Find out what users want. Find out what we hate, what we like, what our ideas are. Because the best businesses can't rely on internal affairs. And, frankly, until Subeta starts shaping up? My money is going elsewhere. And it makes me really sad that just a few weeks ago I drained 100$ on this place.

Good luck filling your support bar, Subeta. And sorry about that wall o' text, but I promise the first one was bigger. :( I also tried to steer away from saying "you" because I know Subeta is a team effort (or at least should be) and I don't want anyone to feel like I'm placing blame on a singular person!

Please please please leave collection items (plushies/beanbags/stickers) out of site events. Unless you know for a fact that there is going to be a prize shop where EVERYONE has the option of buying said collection item, then just don't release those things. Completing collections is supposed to be hard. Not nearly impossible... There's no point for newer players to even bother going for complete collections. You pretty much have to have played for a while to even get 3/4 of it done.

The way these prizes were released just pitted people against one another. I really liked HnR, but I loved the concept of Granny Smiths more! I just wish I could have enjoyed the option of choosing between their special prizes in the prize shop :(

I feel like everything is a contradiction on this site.

Collections are supposed to be hard!! Some things are meant to be rare!! VS Well, we didn't want too little of these items to be available, so we're giving them away to people who did literally nothing but get lucky!

So many people couldn't play, so that's why we didn't do the thing like we always do it, which also happens to be the fairest way to do said thing. VS Everyone loved it even though they hated it!! The feedback is gr8!!

Like, which is it? Because it can't be both things. On my end, there is 11 pages, and at least 98% of it is negative feedback, so...

I wondered this in another post here but, Why exactly did the winning band get SIX items custom made for them? Considering that in past events and plots there would be, what, one major item (that no user helped to make) with the rest trickled down? Why? What was so special about this event that warranted making six custom items as prizes? There wasn't much in this event. It was short. I swear waiting for the prizes took longer. Other than the chatting on the forum or playing the game, there was nothing else to do. And if you couldn't do either then, well, have fun buying the items out of the NPC shops? Unless you already bought all you were going to do in the first day or two.

Also, there was too many bands to choose from.

Seriously subeta, I wonder why I even try anymore. I'm feeling like I'm needing a new site (and for arvee to hopefully fix their issues. Why play on subeta when I can use an offsite HA generator?). Or to just go back to playing on neopets. At least there I know what to expect on events.

I always take the "majority loved the event" when it's clear there are major issues about it coming from a site as, in this order, either the ones who loved it are the ones who had everything in their favor, have no clue over what the issues are, didn't care either way how the event went down just clicked "Loved it" for the hell of it, actually liked the event but had issues and pointed it out however since they clicked "Loved it" lump them into the "awesome event", actually did love it.

I was going to put this in my survey feedback but I didn't want my response to make sailors blush so I had to hold a lot back. Which means I forgot a lot I was going to put.

VIP was also a train wreck. Not so VIP special. The items were lackluster and really would have fit in with the shop for the "unwashed masses". Items that were (let me point out kindly) released by the boatload into the DC not even 10 minutes after being released that day. Not to mention placed into user shops for the going price or under. No, I didn't care about the price they ended up. I was pointing out how easy it ended up to get those exclusive VIP items. I bought and gave away a few items to random users and bought a friend everything in the shop and sent it to her everyday.

So we got a decrease in wait time to purchase from the food vans? I didn't even notice because I was having to wait 45mins as it was in the first place. So it ended up forcing some of us to buy the foods over a few days? 10 minutes would have been nice.

Why couldn't the VIP holder also get a discount? I don't mean, "Oh VIP! 50% EVERYTHING!" It could have been 10% off. Just a little something to make it seem like we didn't have to stand in line with everyone else to buy the things and were ushered in a separate door and had a personal cashier.

I did like the food vans (except for what I said above) and the fashion yurts. The cash shop side of the fashion yurts not so much. Cash shop should stay in the cash shop. Also be clearly labeled as such from the start.

And, it totally is my fault I couldn't play a game that wouldn't run correctly and made me sick to my stomach. Totally my fault I get motion sickness at the drop of a hat. Yep. Totally get how I screwed myself out of getting anything else.

So sorry for the wall of text. I keep telling myself, short and sweet but everything about this event pissed me off I can't help it. :(

This whole event, IMO, was a disaster from the get go. From the numerous complaints regarding the VIP ticket sales down to the Wishing Shrub being saturated with outrageous wishes and now this fiasco. I don't find it fair at all that a friend of mine happened to select the right team, played the game max of five times and ended up with a shit ton of expensive prizes just for making the correct choice. This kind of slant makes me just want to adopt a wait and see attitude and hop onto the bandwagon of the most popular team.

Genuine question here, but if collection items are made ineligible for event prizes, what would you expect to get that would make it worth your time to participate? If we take out books, foods, stickers, plushies, beanbags, clothing, etc, then all I really see left as options are toys, TC items that do nothing at all, and minions. Which seems to me like it would make for pretty lame prizes (cute prizes, but still).

Edited to add: My question is in reference to future events, not this particular one.

I don't think wearables should be viewed as "collectables". There is no achievement for getting EVERY wearable. And wearables can be used, removed and sold.

Stickers, plushies and beanbags are the true "collectible" items on the site. All of those item categories have achievements for collecting all of them, and all of them are unremovable when they are places in one's collection.

If staff would go back to utilizing the Prize Shop system it would be so much easier because players could use their event points to get whatever items they wanted the most, collectables or otherwise.
