We (my band and I) discussed the release of everything with , and as a whole (including Rah) decided that our wearable prizes needed to stay limited to us and our supporters as a special congratulations thing. We agreed to let the collection items be released, but no, the wearables should not have to be released to anyone else.
I could have SWORN that achievements were meant to replace trophies. Are we going back to having trophies? Will there be trophies for future events, or was that just the easiest bandaid to implement for this event?
Was the finalist achievement for just the Champion and Genre winners, or for all the finalists in the competition?

It is for everyone who made the finals.
Hmmmm I didn't get it for being on the Granny Smiths.

Thank you for listening to us. I'm glad the prizes were redistributed and I'm glad that people will have a chance to get their hands on those collectibles in the future. And since I love trophies and don't want the site to move away from trophies at all (lol sorry, I can't help being not biased here), I'm super happy to see all these trophies. T___T
I'm fairly positive it's an exclusive achievement for the members of the finalist bands. 8)
Also for anyone curious,
From what I got, there's 4 levels of achievements: -Make a band (anyone who originally made a band) -Make the final (all band members whose band have been selected for the finals) -Win a genre (all band members of bands who won in their respective genre) -Grand winner (all band members of the band who won overall)
That would be the second level of achievement above, so just the band members of the bands selected for the finals! You should have gotten it if you were one of the band members (supporters didn't get these) have you checker the prize trunk again?
Thanks, that explains it. :)

Are we going back to having trophies, or was this just a one time thing?
- We were talking about trophies making a comeback in some way behind the scenes, we weren't quite ready for them yet but the suggestions for them in the feedback for this moved us along a bit :) They're not about to come back with a force, but it's something that we were considering using for certain things in the future. I can't really say any more than that at this point!
I'm personally extremely delighted with the trophies and the titles. So thrilled to see a trophy again; I know Keith has said he doesn't prefer them but boy, I know I do.
Thanks again for listening and responding, I think this adjustment helps a lot.
Question, though: did supporters of a genre winner also get a genre winner trophy, or did they get another kind of trophy? or no trophy at all? I tried to profile stalk a couple of folks whose names I remembered but they've got custom profiles and I can't tell. xD
I'm still disappointed overall in how the prize distribution worked out (if anyone is curious, I got the rest of the genre plushies + posters), but I do appreciate that an effort was made to at least put a band-aid on it. And I was pleasantly surprised by the top 3 trophy. I usually don't care about trophies, but then again, most trophies on site aren't limited to three people.
Anyway, here's to hoping all these problems will be avoided next time.
i said it in the news comments but i figure i'll say my piece here as well before i ultimately wash my hands of the matter.
i'm glad this second wave of prizes was pushed, and i'm glad feedback from this and/or the suggestions thread was listened to. i still have lingering issues with the whole episode, but unfortunately it's nothing that can be fixed at this point, as the damage has already been done, so i won't drag the matter out any further than it already has been.
what staff needs to do from here is look at what happened in the aftermath of this event, and most importantly, why things ended up the way they did. not just in prize distribution, but in event planning and execution as a whole. don't feel pressure to reinvent the wheel just to keep things "fresh"- certain things (prize shops, tiered prize systems, more than one means of earning points, etc) work for a reason.
ultimately, don't rush out events for the sake of giving us events. i don't know how much planning went into peka-boo and BotB, but from what i witnessed, it all seemed to have been very quickly thrown together, and then brought out under the assumption that things would just fall into place later. the bandaid fix of prizes v 2.0, while welcome indeed, just seems to have been the cherry on a "dear god i hope this works" sundae.
this level of damage control shouldn't be necessary. in this case, it absolutely was, but it really shouldn't be. you're a 10 year old site, you guys really ought to know better.
I still heartily disagree with your decision, as six different wearables for clicking the right button seems excessive. Not even offering the chance at the same time as the collectibles, what with 200 still being a pretty limited number, is hardly fair. Your prerogative, though. You don't need to explain, I understand the rationale. I just don't agree with it in any way, much like the original distribution, and judging by the pages and pages of discussion in the earlier feedback I wasn't alone.
But again, your stuff and your choice. Just please don't expect everyone who picked wrong in the popularity choice to be happy about it.

I already said my thanks on the news post, but I thought I'd reiterate here: thanks for listening! Subeta has come on in leaps and bounds in recent years - there was a time not too long ago when it seemed like the site wouldn't reconsider decisions no matter how uneven the results ended up. It's really reassuring that I've come to expect that (reasonable) complaints will be given (reasonable) consideration - which is what happened here.
Thanks again!

There's actually only four HNR wearables that were given to Horns & Roses supporters (and then the lime eyes for the band but I'm not counting that). I don't think that's too terribly bad, and I do think our band members deserve at least one or two exclusive prizes for supporting us. Sure, staff could have made one or two of the wearables more widely available, but I think the problem ends up being "Well, why should this wearable be exclusive, and this one not?". Not every one of our supporters simply clicked the right button, though, and considering we made up for nearly 100 people supporting the runner-up, there's likely only a small number of people who didn't contribute.
Obviously not everyone will be happy, but I think staff is trying their best to reward who didn't support us, while also maintaining a reward for our supporters. I think making the plushies and flyers more widely available, as well as adding the achievements, definitely helped! I think may have already said this (I'm not backreading), but it was decided to release the vinyl and stickers since they get deleted once you use them, which means in a year or two when most have been used they would be near impossible to get. Wearables are obviously different since they can be added, removed, and readded to the wardrobe. Although the wearables aren't in shop search right now, I imagine they will make their way in there soon enough.
I'm sorry that you feel that our supporters should not get something exclusive for supporting us.
We accepted to get more of of the sticker and book released for the reason listed in my previous post, but SOME of the items had to be exclusive to our supporters so it was decided (along with staff) it would be the wearables since we all did agree the collection items were an issue. I've read the 15 pages of this board, and so did most of my bandmates, and 90% of the issue with the prize was the collection items and the fact top scorers weren't rewarded enought.
You can't expect people who have not supported our band to get all our prizes, and as a band, we can't just give away everything to everyone (how would that be fair to our supporters?)
Also: many people mentioned wearables should be the top prizes in an HA based contes: well there they are.
(Also there is only 4 exclusive wearables: the tail, the horns, the gold eyes and the jacket. There's not 6 of them. (The lime eyes are an exception as they were our item)
(I'm also super tired of this 'popularity' thing. You guys do realize the most popular band was the Granny Smiths? While yes, we were second, we weren't THE MOST POPULAR so we didn't win because of that. Also: the items were made with people who liked our concept in mind, not people who decided to support another band for any reasons)
: On point to what you said, never did I believe Keith should be blamed. I don't. I commend Rah for stepping up, and as evidenced by the new news post, making some changes to remedy the situation. And I commend her for taking responsibility for her actions. I simply meant that the -way things were worded- made it seem like she and she alone was the island, when in reality there was a team of people, and as you said with the Item Administrators, someone anywhere along the line could and should have said 'hey we aren't sure this is the best idea'. And that was what I meant when I said it's a higher up's job to "shield the team". While Rah is definitely taking great ownership and doing such a phenomenal job with her actions, like you said, it wasn't all her. And without Keith (or a lot of other staff really) here to help, it felt to me like a lot of it was falling solely on Rah - who definitely played a large role, but didn't shove it all out the door herself.
I think we were both saying the same thing but in different ways. I only meant as a result of how things were worded and the subsequent actions that followed (it just seemed like Rah was getting drowned in pings as I'm sure she was trying to work out a solution - it can be hard to think when it feels like all the pressure is squarley on your shoulders). I was just trying to say that I didn't feel like she should have to eat the entire crow - she might have downed the bird, but the team as a whole agreed it was okay to fire at that bird. I hope that makes sense :x I seriously never meant it like omg you guys are wrong everything is wrong wrong wrong. I just hated watching people pouring buckets over her when it seemed like she was trying her best to stay afloat, and I only meant it as she wasn't the whole entire end all to be all.
I'm calling it a popularity contest because bands and supporters were allowed to bribe people into joining their side. In contests/events like this bribing shouldn't be permitted as it creates an unfair advantage. In events like the masquerade, trick or treating and so on you can have a bribe board because somone who doesn't have one can still successfully get points by trading dances/tots with a dedicated friend. The event was a popularity contest by design, the actual bands that won are irrelevant in that regard.
