I really like this on reddit and I'm glad to see it here.

COUGH Oops I'm going off topic but this is a way to get my money COUGH

Tell you what, I'll give you 10 dollars right now Subeta if you promise to put the t10, t11, and t12 research notes in the Cash Shop (for Black Friday would be amazing). Make 'em a run down version where you can only battle 'em up to five for the weapon loot. I don't need the experience, a readable, or any of the other loot they drop; so you should get rid of those so people won't start crying over their special limited item.

I can understand what your saying, but at its base Subeta is a business. It creates a product and users pay for the product. A lot of people dont come onto the site to look for forum boards on the sites problems and to help fix them. I understand a lot of people have been here sense the beginning and I think its great that there are a lot of people willing to help out the admins, Keith etc. but not everyone does or wants to.

I personally having been here a long time, came here because its a game site, I find it hard to break in and talk with others who have been close knit for so many years and I can admit that some info they talk about I dont have any opinion on...or sometimes even know what they are talking about.

I know you think its ignorant for me to not want to go read 20 some pages, of a thread with a vague title, that states so many things on the site are broke so lets roll out something else. You know what? I thought it was a complaint thread...not that Subeta is hurting for money, which now I understand they arent. I have and will continue to be patient with the revamps they are doing. Which is why I didnt complain about them. I dont come onto the forum boards often unless its for looking for an artist or a cw.

So in short, even though not everyone understands whats going on, I dont think its appropriate to say they cant complain. I dont think I was wrong to have been concerned. I was concerned that something I do to relax and have put money into would disappear. I also didnt like the bar being on my widget. If people want to watch that and be a part of the financial business of the community then thats fine. I choose not to.

thank you for the information on the site (were things are going etc), putting the bar on the events and letting me know the site wasnt going to crash. Ive seen at least 3-4 game crash this year all ready, I dont want to see subeta crash. I like the game to much. :)

And a business can only function and fix problems if it has the funds to pay their programmers, artists, etc.

I know not everyone can afford to put money into a virtual pet site. However, even a minimum of $5 can go a long ways. Even though Subeta is not hurting financially now, the site needs to be making a decent amount of profit to put on the side, because life likes to throw shitty curveballs.

What if one of the servers crash inexplicably? What if the site needs to add more servers to compensate for the growing userbase? Subeta cannot hire more programmers at the moment. These things cost money to replace or add to making the site function better.

And I reiterate, if you don't keep in the loop, you'll miss out on vital info from staff. Because it has been said over and over again, but you openly admit to being ignorant, the site is not going anywhere and will not be shutting down.

I wouldn't say we're so much as concerned with the financial aspect as we too love and care about this site. Otherwise we wouldn't have requested it.

God yes, I still need some of those higher tier opponents. Seriously regretting not buying them when I had the chance. x.x

Considering this is the first site of it's kind that I've ever ventured into, I'm still on the fence about a lot of things and I do like to know what the owners/admins are doing to improve and interact w/ its users. I gotta say, it must be extremely tough dealing w/ such an age variation...

I never took the progress bar as s/thing telling me that I should buy more CSC. I will decide that based on many variables as I go along. I suppose I'm new enough not to be biased, and since I've never joined the other sites mentioned then all my opinions are based on what's going on right now which also includes how people interact. A progress bar isn't going to influence that decision, just as it doesn't affect me on the many other sites that use them.

I don't mind the bar at all and to me, it's nice to see what's going on.

The fact that you resorted to rudeness by calling me blind and stupid shows right there what I was talking about regarding new people trying to break in to already established groups. I did state that I understood the site was financially stable. I read the new news...

I do understand that servers can break...and things happen. I understand how passionate you are about the site.

What I was trying to explain was the subeta is a business...a game site. People come hear to play. I put my input on the site feedback because I didnt like the bar, or where it was. I know they are working with programming. I again felt no reason to read Searows board because it looked like a complaint board. I dont like sitting here reading them. I have better things to do with my time. Just like now...I feel the bar issue is resolved and your just beating a dead horse.

If you have a problem with me not caring with where the sites money is going, thats to bad. I care about updates on the programming, whats being fixed etc. which is why I joined the updates group, and I think its great they tell us. But in reality they dont have to tell us anything. They choose to.

They choose to let there players have a voice, and that includes the ones who either dont want to say anything, or just complain when they dont like something theyve done.

Im this is my final response to you. If you want to think Im blind and stupid I honestly dont give a crap. I dont know you, I probably will never talk to you again besides buying something from your shop. So have a nice day.

I quite like this feature. I feel like this is a step into the right direction when it comes to transparency. This is a quick and easy way to see how the site is doing without needing an accounting degree. Tons of people have voiced their opinion in the past on wanting to have some insight in subeta's finances. (people don't like putting their money in something virtual when there is a chance they'll just lose it entirely)

With this bar, I don't feel like I'm throwing my money to Keith for his next trip to godknowswhere, but I feel like I'm actually supporting the site.

downside: panic thinkers will panic. Dramaaaa

My apologies, I try my best to refrain from using insults. It's a bad habit of mine.

I would like to correct you, it is important for staff to keep their customers informed on sitewide changes or explanations as to why there are errors or lag during events.

Users who have bought CSC with real cash have a damn good reason to be concerned. I like knowing that my money is in fact being used for what it is intended for: paying staff, helping keep the site alive and functioning, providing a good service so that I want to keep coming back for more.

Yes, Subeta is a game. But behind that, those who provide content and functionality for the game are human too. They aren't just playing for fun, they're working. For them, it's their job, their main livelihood. If something terrible, heaven forbid, were to cause the site to shutdown, everybody loses, not just users.

I'm sad that I can't seem to get through to you, but it's fine. You can play the game however you'd like. I hope you'll look past my rough manners and see the importance of being part of the community, even if you feel there's no need to read a thread here or there. You might just miss out on some new developments for the site, features that might make your experience better.

thank you for apologizing, I can understand your passion, really. I do try to keep up with the sites updates, and test features there coming out with. I watch for the updates, which is now even easier with the updates group. I do understand what your saying about there being a community, but when i play online games and spend money. I guess I just assume they are paying who they need to pay. I try to keep up with what is going on regarding the data issue...but I thought it had been resolved due to them moving to a different company.

I dont keep up with forum boards often because usually I am rushing to do my dailies and Im not a huge talker. I hope this makes sense.

EDIT: as a side note, understanding what the bar stands for now (that the post has come out and such) I dont mind it...I like it...I agree with I feel like my money I put in is supporting the site...which is great. But when it first came out I was panicking...because I dont go onto reddit...the places I go when they put up something like that, it means we need money or site goes bye bye!

I used to be a non-talker too, so I can understand that feeling. I think if I had just come back from vacation to seeing that bar, I'd probably be flipping out and reading everything as quickly as possible to understand what's going on. xD

But naw, I think if the site were worse off, I think we'd notice. ;)

This does nothing for me and means nothing at all.

I'd prefer a siteupdate ping about the site's financial standings. Nothing major, just keeping track of support every 4 months or so and updating us with relevant information.

I think I'm with ; a monthly bar makes far more sense to me. That being said, I do like this addition. It's a fairly unobtrusive reminder that Subeta runs off of (primarily) the users' purchases, and that it doesn't have a license to print money behind the scenes. ;)

I'm curious to know the figures, too, but I understand why there isn't a to-the-cent number on that bar.

NOOOOOOO I paid out the ass for the CS challengers :'(

.... but srsly i wish they would have put them back mid year or something. And i wouldnt mind seeing them show up again on BF, so i can pick up the lower tiered ones i am not willing to pay for.

I do wish there were more CS challengers mid to very high end ones. Love those 3 tiered ones. you know what, make em 500 tiers idgaf. Especially since art is repeated, eg all forjs look the same, less art work.

Thank you for being a voice of reason (though as you've admitted, your tone needs a little polishing sometimes ^^;). Guys, subeta has been around for over eight+ years, and while it's had it's share of problems, I don't really think it's going anywhere. I don't know how it is with other pet sites, as the only one I've ever played is Neopets, but let me tell you... Neopets' communication with its users is terrible. It's only recently that they've begun to even tell us about changes to the site or how it's run... so maybe other sites can go for a long time and then just crash as well, but I like to think that if the site was really in trouble financially, I think the staff cares enough about its users that they'd be honest and let us know, even if it was in the form of a fundraiser or something. I like to think that they'd say, straight up, hey we have these costs that we might not be able to pay, please donate. Running a website is expensive as hell, even with ad revenue (doesn't amount to much). The fact that Subeta actually cares enough to tell us things, especially small things like hey, such and such is broken we're working on it! was really a surprise and refreshing after dealing with Neopets' policy of general silence for 13 years.

That said, the bar doesn't bother me (I wasn't here when it was in our widgets, but I will say I'm glad it moved). I knew from the start that it wasn't a beg for money or an attempt at a guilt trip. By the time I got online the news post was already up where they say flat out that they know not everyone can afford to spend gobs of real money on a virtual pet site, no matter how gorgeous their art. When I have a little extra money, I might buy some csc... or I might not... I know the staff knows that and it's good to know that they acknowledge it. I kinda just wish the bar had been up before I bought csc this time so I could have seen it move and been like, I did that! But I understand how it could be confusing and dismaying when it popped up with no explanation... still nothing to panic over, really, I don't think... if it said "Daily Support Goal"... the "daily" would have been the clue. Business costs are usually tabulated weekly or monthly, I would have seen it as "this is the amount we'd like to make daily to cover our butts for this and that weekly, monthly or yearly cost"...though like many others, I'd like to see an actual dollar amount rather than just an unlabeled bar (percentage might be okay too and since that's apparently on the way, I'll reserve my judgement).

Also I'm glad to know that subeta staff is actually paid, with actual benefits... I assumed (maybe foolishly?) that they were mostly volunteer-based and that most funds generated by the site went to server costs.

...Oh wow, I think I rambled. I'm sorry, sometimes I just feel the need to pointlessly ramble my thoughts...

I'll admit, I'm as polished as this guy here.

Funny you mention Neo, cause there was some rumor that the site was gonna shutdown at some point because so many players were unhappy with the customization implementation and then the addition of the NC Mall to top it off. Though I suppose the fear wasn't so much because of the NC Mall's addition, but rather that if the amount of players dwindled too low, then Neo could financially suffer.

Obviously that never happened and Neo's going to celebrate their 15th year later this November. =)

I know Subeta's completely different than Neo, but it's difficult to not mention Neo, since it was/is pretty much the foundation for pet sites today.

Yeah, and everyone loves Levi! They cheered for him in the streets and all!

Yeah, I remember that. People completely flipped their shit about the mall... but people will do that. I think it's human nature. We fear change. Every time something new comes along, everyone gets all up in arms for whatever reason, be it justified or based in fact or not, and after a while, when the world doesn't implode as they feared it would, they settle down and wonder why they were so upset in the first place. I speak from experience there, I dislike change too!

I compare Subeta to Neo all the time, because I still play both and the differences are abundantly clear. Both are virutal pet sites, but that's pretty much where the similarities end.

And Subeta users tend to really despise change no matter if it benefits the site or not. Change: Damned if you do damned if you don't.

But it does get better. People forget and move on, sometimes embrace the change after some time! This daily bar will be no different than anything else before it. x3

I said it on the news post but I'll just post here again to second/third/etc all the people who said this is a nice step, but a monthly bar would've been nicer. I don't expect any single csc purchases to be moving up the bar a lot and merely seeing whether the site has or hasn't hit their goal in any given day doesn't tell me if the artists are going to eat this month / get paid on time / etc. :/

(I also think people may panic if they see the red bar everyday or postpone expenses if they see the bar already full. Plus it'd probably feel less pushy in the sense of not looking like "buy today" but maybe "buy this month".)
