Sounds like it's just like Parasyte: it benefitted from being made much later by people who respected the original work and couldn't just make a throwaway 12-episode advert for a product that hasn't been for sale in decades. I hear mixed things about the adaptation but regardless, I wish this was more common, there are so, so many good and popular stuff from the last century that doesn’t have an adaptation or has a shitty/incomplete one. As for the rest, most of it sums up into not having the little details and numbers. I’ve mentioned TBC at the beginning and it’s so, so much worse. If it weren’t for the Wikia you would have to spend more time testing your units than actually playing the game.

That one friend I’ve mentioned a trillion times was both, so he was always asking for favors, making her answer questions every class, that sort of stuff. And of course, she hated it. And then, on our third year we started high-fiving each other while yelling “White Power!!!” whenever we got away from being annoyed by him. …Then one year later I found out there was (is?) some extremist group in Brazil that call themselves that. The end.

I'm always very skeptical of farming games, even if it's only one half of the whole thing. Does it feel engaging, or is it more like busywork? If you’re worried the farming will be something like Stardew Valley, it’s way more realistic and interesting than that. I meant it when I said the rice was blessed by lolibaba feet because you actually go down on the field, plow it, plant the rice, harvest it, dry…, control water flow, plagues, make fertilizer (different types, that will work better at different phases of your crop), and a bunch of other stuff. As she works on it, she gains new skills to make work faster/easier, but you can deactivate them at free will too.

Did you end up having the same gripes as me? I guess they aren’t exactly the same but very similar: For me, all the back-and-forth with resurrection muddied the impact of deaths, I didn’t mind the death/healing bit because it was established early on so it was easy to go with the flow, my issue is that it gave the author waaay too much freedom to have everyone Black Knight each other so what bothered me was the lack of impact of the injuries themselves – you literally had people being cut in half, having their guts spilling out and shit and just going “‘tis nothing but a scratch!”. It’s obviously a kink of the author so that didn’t bother me too much though. However, the one time I had any reaction was when Fujita got hurt. I thought, hey, it’s Fujita, he won’t get away unscathed, right? Wrooong. Author found a way to buff even him.

and the final arc was a great dip in quality compared to everything that came before. My main issue with the final arc is that I simply didn’t care about what was going on with Caiman and much less Nikaido. She turned out to be too much of a Mary Sue and all those “unflaws” of hers kept piling up until it became unbearable (as in, boring as shit) towards the end. Haru was another issue I had, she felt more like a plot device than a character.

In a nutshell, the only problem I had with Dorohedoro can be summed up as it having zero stakes during the entire story, and that becoming more evident as it progressed. Part of it was easy to just press the suspension of disbelief button, and the worldbuilding, art, a lot of the characters and especially seeing all the plot points slowly unfolding and converging more than made up for that. On another note, I know the adaptation was mediocre but still looking forward for S2 just for the OP/EDs.

Well, one of them does have a cult when she’s young and there’s the whole Zero incident but it’s more a take on “capitalist heroes” than that, with companies sponsoring them, cheap marketing, media manipulation etc. – one of the heroes is 100% made up.

Did the author review the script when the adaptation was being produced or something? Hm… No idea, actually. Couldn’t find anything about that online and it being a 2007 anime based on a 1977 manga sure doesn’t help.

→ On the other hand, this season – unlike winter, which I skipped entirely as everything worth checking were adaptations – is so damn good for now, so let’s take a look at it: Apocalypse Hotel: pretty self-explanatory. Robots are given the task of taking care of a hotel while humans don’t return. For a whole century they do so, doing pointless tasks in a guestless hotel. Until ALIENS. Great light-hearted comedy/SoL with a spice of dread and “owari desu”. Nazotoki wa Dinner no Ato de: just an episodic mystery-solving cartoon but I’m really digging the characters. Fun little thing to watch [sub]while dining.[/sub] Shoushimin Series S2: season 1 was kinda boring sometimes because it was mostly focused on Kobato and little, everyday mystery solvings, but this season is focusing much more on my queen Osanai, and even Kengo is getting more screen time so it’s been a blessing. Amen. To Be Hero X: a literal Chinese cartoon… the synopsis isn’t very convincing, I know, but I really don’t want to spoil anything, so all I’ll say is that the beginning is very fast-paced (in a good sense), and that it’s not easy being Nice. [sub]Or any other hero. Jesus Christ.[/sub] Also lurking Lazarus threads out of curiosity too, to see if it’s just going to be another disappointment or so bad it’s almost impressive. After I had a general idea of what I planned to write I decided to make this reply a rather bloggy one.

Mostly because it later hit me the beginning of the previous one came off too whiny, so let’s give an update of my current state: → I know that the apartment stuff was 100% my fault (I sometimes pretend it was 99% though) and have accepted it. A lot of things making me nervous about this is, in reality, because of my uselessness. Being surrounded by overly dependent people is the best blessing a pathetic human being could be given. Although I'm conscious all the enabling from my family is a bad thing; → As for if I had backups… what do you think I am? Smart? Of course I didn’t. The good news is that the data is intact, I just can’t access it. I tried using scrcpy but it didn’t work, so I’ll have to take it somewhere to fix it. No good past experiences with those places so let's procrastinate on that for now…; → I’m trying to force myself to get my shit an itsy bitsy together. Can’t call what I’ve done until now “progress” but hey, I’ve drawn more this year than in the last five and my kanji notes have left the drawer – enough to pretend I’m doing something; → I’ve left the branch in November. My current job is depressing, pointless and stressful but I don’t need to deal with people so I don’t hate it. I can also work from home thrice a week, or… its equivalent in the month, that means spending two whole weeks without knowing the concept of “pants”, and waking up five minutes before work time. It's been causing significant[/B] chaos for artists whose art styles are similar to what AIs are regularly outputting. Ah, this. I had forgotten about this. Not that I'm in favour of the witch hunting people do but the whole thing is pretty ironic: thousands of people stopped making “art” to create mass-produced images that sell easily, and it was those people – both because of the amount of highly similar content and their popularity – that fed the AIs the most and now new artists must abandon this ship or sink. In that sense, I'm strangely happy about the path AI might have closed for the digital art world.

This reminded me of many years ago when a user was unfortunate to put she was an “animefag” in her profile and someone posted that on SS. A bunch of users started acting as if she had murdered their parents in cold blood. Of course trying to explain the misunderstanding was pointless because we all know everyone that browses 4chan is a psychopath or something.

What does this have to do with AI? Nothing. But I guess I needed to vent. After that I really started to notice how people “cancel” others over anything and that scared me shitless.

I think I've mentioned this in the past, but it's almost impossible to find quick, reliable, simple information on various topics now.
