That makes sense. Yesss Witchbrook looks so good! I'm also really interested in Chef RPG, but it is still in early access on steam. Every video I've seen for it looks incredible. Have you seen anything about it yet? And have you seen Keith's announcement that he's shelving Kumos and migrating changes to the legacy site?! I'm shocked, but excited about it. https://subeta.net/forums.php/read/943852/Wardrobe-V-Returning-Home-and-other-news/1
Very cute ideas! I saw something a while ago that would fit the theme and could become a family thing: it was basically a blank map with stickers for each national park and then you could put the sticker up on the map after you've visited it together. Could also be cute to write the dates on the sticker so that you'd be able to remember how old he was when you visited the park with him.
I'm so sorry to hear that healing has not really been better :( Any chance his leave could be extended if you're still not feeling better? Even using vacation time for this would probably be worth it if you're not doing better by then. I asked my sister what she did after one of her kids (she was in agony for 12 weeks because she had an episiotomy). She says: "I’d recommend at the very least dermaplast to spray but even that is very temporary relief! I’ve heard of others making padsicles, but I never made my own but they’re basically just ice packs for you to sit on! Also, sitz baths! And of course I’d be horking Tylenol like no one business! I’d also reach out to OB just in case!"
I'm surprised you hadn't heard of Haunted Chocolatier yet! He's been working on it for quite a while, probably at least a year at this point. He won't give any kind of official timeline for it though which is probably why it doesn't get much hype. I think it'll turn out amazing, especially since he's taking his time and not committing to arbitrary timelines that could later make him rush through the project.
Yeah, that course was rough. I did eventually figure out where I went wrong and fixed it...but now I'm stuck on something in the next course haha. Thankfully this time it's not a problem with the material itself; I just haven't figured out how to make the code do what I want it to do (yet).
Aww the moth/butterfly garland and camping/national park theme sounds like it will turn out super cute! Do you already have a bunch of decor ideas? Creating your own felted stuff after trying the kit is smart. There are probably a ton of free patterns/tutorials on youtube that you could browse for inspiration if you need to.
Do you feel any better in terms of healing?
Right to repair laws in general would be so nice. I'm so incredibly tired of everything in our lives being considered disposable.
Yeah, ConcernedApe & Stardew was the main one I had in mind. He is still solo developing Haunted Chocolatier on top of still working on stardew (although he does have a team helping him with stardew now and apparently takes more of a creative director role). Creating stardew alone is such an impressive feat already, but the fact that he didn't get burnt out enough to abandon it afterwards is even more impressive! I think he deserves all of the success in the world. I can only dream of making a stardew-like game someday.
I'm already making some small things (although they are of course made using guides and assets that are not my own, so I would not be able to use them for anything in their current state). The last one I finished for a course involved making a 2D platformer game which was actually super fun. I could see myself continuing to work on that project for a while and later making my own art, sounds, and assets for it. I also feel like I understood enough of the basics that I could easily add my own new content to it with minimal issues. Now the class has me building a turn-based RPG and I hate it so much. I don't know if this particular course is just a hot mess or if it's me, but this one feels like a lot more of a struggle despite also being labelled as a beginner course.
Code generally feels pretty intuitive to me, but I do think that the abundance and quality of tutorials and guides (and information in general) has also gone way up over the years, which helps a ton. When I started with CSS and HTML decades ago, there was a lot less information freely available than there is now. Though it's a catch 22, because there's so much info now that it's easy to stay stuck in tutorials forever instead of just jumping in and making something. I suppose that's the case with anything creative though. Learning by watching or reading can only get you so far. Eventually you have to just trial and error your way through your own projects to get better.
Getting back into crafts is amazing to hear. What are you making in your kit? I've seen a lot of those felting kits and the projects always look so adorable, especially the kits to make animals.
