Custom overlays are exactly that: You can draw your pet and you won't see the original pet colours at all. It'll just be the drawing. This, however, costs about $5 to do in real money (each pet).

Now there's an alternative- and that is an overlay on your pets profile (Which is free to do and there are tutorial all over on how to do it!) This is basically when you change the image on your pets profile (Where everyone else sees your pet) to be that overlay using the code of the pet's page ^-^
