Yeah, I do think it depends on the cat since some cats, especially if they were originally strays might not like not being able to go outside. Gretel was an owner surrender, and while I've been harness training her, she's never been super eager to go outside, not counting the walks around the deck I take her on occasionally. But I hear coyotes howling away at night on the regular, so I'd rather just not risk her becoming food to a hungry coyote.

The other reason is she does have a decent hunter instinct, she'll catch spiders to eat them, dropped a live bug on my bed once as an offering, so keeping her indoors also negates her deciding to bring in dead birds, mice, etc.. to mom. She's on monthly flea medication because I'm on a property that has an acre of land so there's always bugs in the house. Also, just wild animals.. I've seen a hawk at least once here, a couple foxes every once in a while, etc..etc.. We have a lot of wild rabbits here so I'm guessing the coyotes like to hunt them.

Yeah, we live in an area that has coyotes so I don't want her getting out, don't want to risk her becoming coyote food.
