"The name's Yarnaby! Would you...Warn-a-be my friend?"

During the 1970s, Playtime Co. brainstormed many ideas to help with their upcoming campaign for wildlife conservation. The most successful of those ideas is the lion with a heart of gold that they called Yarnaby. His cuddly and friendly appearance touches the hearts of those he encounters. He became very popular with the young children, even getting his own commercial and merchandise. Just give Yarnaby a good brushing and some love, and he will be a friend forever!

THE REALITY

Little did the public know, Playtime Co. had a secret. Beneath their large, busy factory was an underground center for children. Masked as a daycare center, children without a home were adopted by the employees and sent here to test their skills. Most of the employees were unaware of the dark, sinister workings further below the factory...

The children who proved themselves through the mundane and repetitive activities at "Playcare" were sent further down the levels, for a project called The Bigger Bodies Initative. From there, scientists began experimenting on these children, observing their behaviors and reactions to such tests. Once the tests proved to be a success, the children were...merged with the toys they were assigned to. The scientists were ruthless in cracking the code to human mortality, all because of a little girl doll named Poppy, Playtime Co.'s pride and joy.

Poppy was the catalyst for these experiments. Nobody knew how she came to life and became "a real girl", but that only made the scientists morbidly curious. Dr. Harley Sawyer was one of those scientists fascinated with these experiments ever since he signed on to Playtime Co. He was determined to figure out how to become immortal through these meaningless toys. Somehow, they stayed intact, although their mental capacity became limited over time. Surprisingly, one such experiment grew fond of Dr. Sawyer. And he, in turn, was rather amused by this particular one.

Experiment #1166...Codename: YARNABY.

Of course, this creature used to be a child. Quinn Navidson, to be exact. Dr. Sawyer was fascinated with the problematic child. Quinn was reported to have scored low on purpose and not utilizing his full potential. But nobody wanted to work with him because he was troubled. He often broke off the heads from toys and swapped them to different bodies. But Dr. Sawyer thought it to be useful. He manipulated the child to use his full potential, to never hold back, and that he was special. Different from the others. The others couldn't understand what he could contribute.

Experiment #1166 became a kind of guard dog to Dr. Sawyer. Loyal and docile, but fierce if threatened. He was proud of what this boy became. Unfortunately, this became shortlived, as Dr. Sawyer ended up becoming an experiment himself, forced to be the guide for the other scientists working there. He was too dangerous to be kept alive, but his knowledge was vital in carrying out these experiments..

And thus, The Hour of Joy occurred. No one knew exactly what triggered the experiments on that day, but they ran rampant. They killed, they feasted, they got their revenge on those who did them wrong. Anybody who worked at the factory did not escape alive. Because of this, Dr. Sawyer reunited with his servant, and gave a simple order to all who followed him:

Kill any intruders who dared to explore what remains of the factory.

And now, decades later, an unexpected guest returns to the ruins of the factory...someone who somehow escaped the Hour of Joy all those years ago...someone who was called to by a mysterious letter with a drawing of a poppy on it...someone who made it past the hostile security measures, and into No Man's Land...

"Oh, Yarn-a-by...!"
