Recent Updates

Here is a list of some of the larger updates that Subeta pushed out this weekend. We are hoping that this smooths out a lot of the bugs and errors that we have been facing as we roll out a few systems. We have more work planned and we will be sure to communicate those as well.

Forum Updates

  • Head shots in forum preferences are now working again.

  • Group pings now work in Human Avatar and Pet forums. The flip side to this is that group pings in Advertising and Wanted will no longer work. Switching over to the forums changed the IDs and the old Advertising and Wanted linked to the new Human Avatar and Pet forums and blocked group pings from processing. This was in error and, as intended, group pings should not work in Advertising and Wanted forums.

  • Personal and group pings now work when creating a topic.

  • There were a few changes to group ping processing. This should help speed up a lot of the processing for small and mid-size groups. It might not be the perfect solution for large groups (with several hundred or a few thousand members) but we will continue to monitor them. We have a few ideas in mind if the issues persist.

    Cron Updates

  • There was an error in the Pet Spotlight script that was updated. The overnight cron should now run on time and should generate a news post for the winner. We will monitor those accordingly.

  • There were a few updates how high score payouts work. Instead of being processed at midnight, high scores will be paid at 2 AM Subeta time. We have also started to move a few games (specifically Matlal’s Jewels, Spectrail, Cybill Sledding, and Restocking Royalty) to a new system. These games will pay out at 3 AM. Eventually, we will move all of the games over to the new system and move processing back to 2 AM but we want to take it one step at a time and make sure that each game that is transferred is updated and paid out properly.

    Achievement Updates

  • Please be mindful that importing your achievements will update them to the progress as of 8 August 2014. (There are some achievements that will go back to 6 August 2014.) If you have made considerable progress in the last few days, please do not import as you will lose the progress. We’ve added a notice saying so. The import feature is mainly for those that were moving over to the system and had issues initially. We apologize if this was not communicated clearly and please feel free to submit a ticket if there is a discrepancy in achievement progress.

  • Wardrobe and Pekaboo achievements are known issues. We are aware that they are not being given out or updating properly and we are looking into it. Please do not create tickets for these as we will address the solution to everyone.

  • The “Big Spender” achievement will be off for those that imported before today. Re-importing will fix the issue, but we recommend against it (as other progress will be lost) and we will work out a better solution for the achievement.

  • Achievement counts are not accurate and might be different across various parts of the site. One of the biggest updates to the achievement system was scalability. We reduced the amount of database records and tiers were placed within an achievement - which on the topical level does not change much but it drastically changes how we create and reward achievements under the hood. The discrepancy in the achievement counts stems from how they are calculated - we will update and standardize them. Rest assured that you are not losing achievements.

Please continue to report achievements that are not tracking properly. There shouldn’t be any cases of losing achievements when the dust settles. We know every single achievement that was earned on the old system and can cross-reference them to the new ones. Some groups of achievements (as mentioned above) will have issues but we are working those out.

    Misc. Updates

  • The games that went missing from the games index are now listed again.

  • There were improvements to shoutbox functionality.

Pet Spotlight Winners

Kosmas, Kanis, PiranhaPlant, Siberian, Bacteria have all won the Pet Spotlight over the last few days!

Subeta has been experiencing an issue that stops the news from posting the winner every night. We have been working to fix the problem and we hope that the updates that were pushed live today will finally fix the issue. Of course, we will continue to monitor the news tonight. As for the winners - we have added proper news posts to the respective winning dates so that each can celebrate their own win with the correct date and without an error notice like this.

We understand that a lot of time, work, and dedication is placed into pet profiles (as is clearly evident in the level of creativity on submissions!) and we appreciate all of the patience and support as we sort out the issues.

Direct to Cash Shop CWs!

We are excited to announce a new way to submit custom wearables -- thanks to user suggestion, we have implemented a way for users to submit their custom wearables directly to the cash shop!

When you submit a CW, you now have the option to submit your custom item directly to the Cash Shop without first creating a batch of slots. The item will still go to the queue and through the normal critiquing process. If it is accepted, one copy of the item will be placed in your inventory, and it will be placed in the Cash Shop immediately. You will not be able to remove your item from the Cash Shop manually. It will remain there for 90 days, after which time it will be retired.

The cost for submitting you item directly to the cash shop is 1000 CSC + the cash shop cost of an item. For example, a wig will be 1600; a small accessory will be 1300. This is great for not being able to fill slots, or for those of you that want a copy of your item but do not necessarily want to wait until 10 slots are filled to get it - or do not want to pay for all the slots yourself, but do not mind it being placed in the cash shop!

Thanks for the great suggestion, everyone, and keep it coming - and we hope you all enjoy this new feature!
