That image, given the 'examples' provided on this news post... was in no way blatant 'creative theft,' whatever that is supposed to exactly mean. Portions of the image look to be a similar style to the other images, perhaps even inspired by, but no lines line up, the portions are different, and the overall images ARE DIFFERENT.

I think many people on this thread might, in fact, be blind.

It's definitely a shame that the profile was cleared since it was definitely no fault of the owner! It was a lovely profile, all other matters aside. However, I greatly admire & appreciate the Subeta staff's response to blatant creative theft. I am glad that they are neither blind nor ignorant to things like that.

I think that's incredibly pathetic that the profile was cleared if it was because of supposed "style theft."

Isn't anything regarding sexual activity/orientation frowned upon when it comes to our pets? I remember reading that pets couldn't "have babies" because it alluded to intimate relations.

Not that I'm complaining, of course, I love the name and my god that's one flaming pet XD Like other commenters, I don't quite get the cream overlay, when spectrum pets are so flamboyant and cute, but either way. Congrats to the owner!

It may be your screen resolution that causes the profile to cut off. I say this because my own Ursa's profile was always been perfectly fine to me until I plugged in my new computer last month. Suddenly it was too large and cutting off at the bottom of the page. After fiddling with the resolution it was once again where I was used to it being. I went in a played with it again, and I could see where it could cause this profile to cut off as well. If you were to go into the display properties and adjust your screen resolution, it might make a difference.

* - Well-thought-out story
* - Appropriate treasure chest

So you don't need everything on the list

Also I find it very rude to post "TLDR" if it so long to read then don't bother posting. Many people work hard on their stories, it's not their fault you to lazy to read

My only complaint is that he lacks a treasure chest. (well, at least I can see.) I thought winners had to have a treasure chest. Anyways, nice job/layout. The art looks inspired, not an exact trace.

I get that it's an overlay. I also get the homosexual/rainbow connection. I just don't get the artistic choice to make the "pet" look Cream. Like I said, purely personal observation. Also the bottom of the profile isn't cut off for you? Or is it supposed to be that way? The middle box seems to have a lot of issues of text overlaying the pic and a pic seems to be cut off at the bottom. The far right box also has some text overlaying the pic, making the text hard to read, but not as difficult to read as the text in the middle box. I'm using FF so I don't think that's the issue. I could just not be "getting" the layout as an aesthetic choice, but it seems flawed to me? IMO a spotlight winner should be interesting (which this one is) but the layout should also be, I dunno, right? It should be clean, this seems to have some mistakes is all I'm saying.

Bagheera23608 the profile isn't broken for me. The trophy needs to be moved but It wasn't on there I guess originally. The pet has an overlay which is why it's different. As for the strictness they were just re-done a week or two ago to make it much harder.

Dont care about the name or subject matter, but how does a pet win the spotlight when the profile is broken? I can't see the bottom of the profile....On another note, this one more personal, lol. Why does a Spectrum pet look more Cream in the profile, lol??????But to my original point I do wish the judging was just a teeny more strict.....

obviously mowufa's style, if not cut apart and lined together. i mean, look at the red shading, the lines, the muzzle and more.. this is beyond being similar in styles. =/ but i'm sure the owner had no idea, though. so grats on the win.

Every time I read the comments for the winners, it seems some people cannot just be happy for them...There is always a problem...Goodness. let them have their fifteen minutes of fame and we'll all head on to the next one...

I don't think it looks like he copied at all? The style is used a lot and I've seen that pose quite a bit as well. Sure, it is a bit similar, but I could honestly believe if the artist had never seen the image you linked in their life.

Lovely pet, adore the overlay. Shame about the story which, while well-written, seems to have the same kind of opinions as my dad on a bad day about how people become gay.

I can see what people mean about the background art, which has the exact same leg, feet and haunch position as the mofuwa picture which has been linked.

Hearts, Can you tell me parts you think line up? I decided to be diligent and load the images into GIMP to check it out... and I don't see absolutely any lines that line up for more than the space of 10 pixels here or there, which because they are simply curves on similar body parts (only part of one knee but not the other part of a knee, and only part of one side of one foot but not the rest, etc), I really don't see how that's a problem.
Please correct me if there is something more outstanding... I'd like to know.

Maybe they do line up, I'm not obsessive enough to paste the images into a program... I still don't think it's an issue of art theft because the three images are not enough alike, in my opinion... But to each their own opinions, and staff will make their own as well.

Also, that person's art is not as unique as you may think, as I have seen the same style in at least a dozen other artist's artwork, including my friend's little sister who has no access to deviantART or other such websites. This is why I mentioned coincidences. shrug

Actually, if you do an image overlay, parts of the image(s) line up exactly. Mofuwa's style is also extremely distinctive and unique, it's not your run-of-the-mill cartoon-animal style so if it's extremely recognisable elsewhere, then there's a problem! In any case, you can tell the image has been heavily referenced from her art which is unfortunate.

A ticket's been filed though and hopefully staff can clear it up! It's no fault of the owner of the pet at all, but it sucks to be deceived by someone in such a way. Heavily referencing someone else's art and calling it your own is pretty low.
