Pet Transfer Update!

Individual pets can now only be transferred every 30 days. That means if you send a pet to your friend, they can't send it back for 30 days!

hello so happy and exciting she won its my pet todally yeah

So this means that an individual pet may be transferred to someone but may not be transferred back for one month, though the user can still transfer and receive other pets? That seems reasonable.

Amortentia, lots of other things were the disease of ... the other place... long before anything like pet transfers were in effect. I left that place over 2 or 3 years ago for more reasons than I can count, though I seem to gather it's gotten worse...

And I completely agree... most of what I love about Subeta happens to be refreshingly different than... other places.

I agree that it could make life simpler...maybe...but it has been the disease of Neopets. I wish we would turn a bit away from systems that look like neopet things (just in my opinion) because I always liked that this site was a complete difference for the most part. The new pet spotlights and transfer system is scaring me though. I really hope it doesn't turn anymore toward that direction. Everyone I knew that played subeta loved it for the fact that it wasn't anything like the other place.

.... People who sign up today and create a pet get the Only Room For 1 for absolutely NO EFFORT whatsoever... how did THEY ''earn'' that achievement? They didn't. I'm not trying to bitch and moan, I'm just making the point that's already been made that that particular achievement is not on the list of ''earned'' achievements.

sigh

I was considering trying to finagle the Only Room For 1 achievement before this change... I don't really feel like giving up 9 of my pets for a whole feckin month. I mean... the only reason I would even DO it is because that achievement came out after I joined and AFTER I had several pets, and isn't retroactive of course... I don't think that was really completely fair to begin with, to be honest, but I don't want to sit here and whine about what can't be changed...
It's just unfortunate. I think a time limit is a GREAT idea because it limits the crazy kinds of pet-sending I could foresee happening, but a MONTH? That's just too long for me to lend ANY of my pets EVER. I love my pets... you know, like we're supposed to?...

I think the pet transfer system was put into effect mainly for transferring pets to new owners, where both sides had worked hard and there was the risk of cheaters interrupting the process.

The "now we can lend pets like items!" was sort of a...bonus, if you will? There were lots of potential problems for unlimited pet transferring, and putting a time limit on transfers was one way of taking care of the problem. Keith had said in one of the earlier news posts that he'd be monitoring how much transferring was going on, how long the pet was staying in an account, how many times it was transferred, etc etc. I assume he saw enough to decide this change was necessary

And beautiful, just because a rule is the same/similar does NOT mean Subeta is like Neopets. Christ, all pet sites are bound to have SOME things the same >.<

Why all the crying? If you want a pet back so bad, can't the current owner just put it in the pound and you can just adopt it? So what if its not seamless?

loveing hell.

Now I'll never get the "room for one" achievement, which was unfair in the first place because it came out so late and was not retroactive.

I guess this makes whoever is doging and moaning about people having potentially unfair advantages in the battle coliseum happy. Because, you know, how dare anyone try to compete with the millions and billions of sP a handful of people have spent on their pets to make them the best of the best. Screw all those late to the party, right?

I don't like it. I never thought it was fair that the "Room for One" came out well after people had a lot of pets. =0X I was pleased to see that with a couple friends help after the transfer feature came out I could finally get it without risking the pets I've put plenty of time and energy into. And for all those saying "make it fair" and "protect" the one pet achievement, shove off people, newbies get it when they create a pet. You don't earn that achievement, you're handed it on an "oh look an achievement!" platter. Shrug I get it in the sense that it'll keep people from passing around battle pets like prizes, but that make me no happier. XD

Great decision!!!! It's just my opinion, but I think an achievement means more when you have to work a little (or a lot) to gain it! Well done!

Oh thank you Keith! I think this makes the "room for one" achievement much more safe and fair!

Also, I wont have to be so nervous when I put a pet up for adoption again (if I ever do, which I don't think I will!)

The achievements people are talking about are room for one and book reading and stats and, I presume, even the Pet Spotlight. Wonder what kind of satisfaction one gets from having an achievement he/she did absolutely nothing to earn. Hm. Anyway, I think the block should be placed on the pet itself, so it can't be pounded or traded to anyone for 30 days after the last trade. This means nothing if people can just trade a pet to another user and back to the original owner.

"But what if some random user sends you a pet you don't want?" In that case you should be able to just pound the pet, right? There's an achievement for pet transfers? I didn't notice since I hadn't planned on ever using this feature any way.

So if someone on my friend's list sends me a random pet I don't want, I can't just send it back?

I'd really, really like to see a feature that allows a person to accept/deny incoming pets. This seems like a good update on the whole, though.

strange... it was "it's all good until you want your pet back "...maybe locking tranding partners for 30 day would be bettere idea...

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Impure

: but i guess there would still be a possibility to get your pet back right away: say person A sends the pet to person B for the achievements..person B could send THE SAME PET to person C...and person C sends the pet back to person A, given all of them are friends with each other and are online at the same time, or something. the way i understand this feature, it could go like this, right?

Random users can't send you pets you don't want. People on your FRIENDS LIST are the only ones who can send you pets. If you can't trust the people on your friends list not to send you random pets, delete them.

I'm glad you went with this, rather than only allowing us one transfer a month, period.

Though...have you changed it so the other party has to accept the pet yet? Because it would suck for a friend to send you a pet, when you couldn't get rid of it without waiting a month or spending money to abandon it.
