All the people whining and bitching about the frigging Swastika and picture of Himmler make me sick. For chrissakes, it's a PICTURE that Pinto is using to describe a character. I don't understand why people are STILL so worked up over all that Holocaust crap.

Anyway. Great character, I wasn't at all offended by the photograph. My eyes just skimmed over it as if it were nothing, I don't see why any other people couldn't have done the same. Focus more on the text, and less on images next time, will you?

Congrats, Pinto. You really deserved it.

While the story and layout are nicely done, I do think that it was in bad taste to include a picture of someone who was involved in one of the most stunning and evil things this world has known in modern times. I, as an educated person, do understand that the swastika was used before the German Nazi regime by the hindus and other cultures but the symbol was bastardized and turned into something that, in my opinion, has and always will haunt the minds of all good people. I am sorry that some people are offended by those who choose to stand up and say "no THANK YOU" to such an intolerable display. Were any other image used in the picture, I am certain that people would not have thrown "shit fits."

In other words, Good character, bad lack of judgment in the picture choice.

i really dislike how subeta pet owners are being pressured into making pets as unoffensive as possible. these spotlight winners have shown aspects of our lives and our pasts...and making such accusations of 'glorifying' them is totally uncalled for.

on a lighter note, congrats on the win, Pinto.

That's just rude. People have different ways they want their pets. Not all of them are going to be cute, or nice. Etc.

Some may be like this. It's their choice. It's just a pet site. And there is nothing about supporting Nazi's or anything.

I think the entire layout, story, overlays, everything...is amazing.

People come on here and RP, that is story telling. Just because you find something offensive doesn't mean its wrong. He is telling a story, not unlike a book or a movie... visual aids help in getting his thoughts conveyed properly, so be it.

I just think that there was no need for a picture of himmler. Imho it takes away from the pet and his story (though I can't tell what the person who designed it has thought of). Really, I just don't see what it was worth for, it offended people right for nothing if it's supposed to be as harmless as people say it is.

And people with the 'oh is just the interwebz//just pixles', well there is a person behind this you know? Just because the pixel isn't real doesn't mean the person the picture shows wasn't.

I'm not saying I think pinto has had any nazi thoughts/likings or anything, I just don't understand why this was necessary (without that picture I'm sure everyone would agree that it's a great profile that deserves the spotlight). =/

what disturbes me more then this nazi fact is what the hell does this have to do with a pet,isnt the spotlight called pet spotlight,the last winners i saw didnt have nothing to do with subeta pets.

all this overlay thing is maybe pretty and nice but really i think the pets themselves should be shown,with a chara story of the pet itself,this here has nothing to do with a pet spotlight,sorry its my opinion and i dont want to diminue the work of the winners which is great,the profile styles are great and im sure there are nice layouts and storys out there which shows of the real subeta pets and im looking forward to see them

Good lord, what is it with some people? This proves the point that some people just aren't happy unless they are doging about something. I am %100 German, you gonna call me a Nazi too and say I am in bad taste and blah blah blah? Damn get over yourselves. The idea that this character is a Nazi is simply implied and even IF it said straight out he was a nazi it is clear that he is ashamed of that past and even IF he wasn't..... IT IS A FREAKING PIXEL!! Not all characters are happy go lucky, cute pink bunnies that you want to hug. Some characters are down right nasty people. This character isn't even all that bad, he just has a shady past. If you cant accept the fact that people put thought and effort into "distasteful" characters, I would suggest another site. Subeta is meant for a more "mature" userbase".

I don't see what the big deal is. The page mentions shady parts to the characters past, and that he conceals it for fear of losing the few people he has in his life. If we assume this refers to Nazism, we can also assume that the character probably knows it's wrong due to concealing it. So I don't see how this character is actually offensive at all.

Beyond that, Nazis are people too. This irrational hatred of them is pointless. Yes, they've done things wrong. So has most the world. The Crusades were technically evil, but for some reason we don't bother prosecuting the church for starting it. Everyone does things wrong in life, at some scale. Just because the character could be considered a Nazi and you don't like that doesn't mean the profile shouldn't win. It's a nicely done page, and the flaws in a character are exactly what makes them real. In that light, when it comes to character designs, flaws are perfection.

Nevertheless, I think the rest of the profile was very beautifully done.

I especially like the break from the outright gore that we've been having for the past few days (they're nice, but not so many times in a row!)

Soulmonkie, my family history was very much affected by WWII. I'm fairly sure most families have been. However, there is one itty bitty difference between Nazis and Muntze - Muntze is a god damned character. It's beginning to irk me that you are unable to recognize that and instead have a fit about the fact that Nazism is a horrible thing. The same applies to the characters in the pet spotlight who are made out to be murderers. They never did hurt anyone. If all characters were created to be "perfectly nice people", the writing and roleplaying communities would be extremely dull and lack a bit of originality. It all needs to balance itself out. And as Rah said, not once on the page did Pinto say they were Neo-Nazis themselves. Why make the presumption that because they quite possibly have a Nazi character means they themselves have beliefs similar to those of Hitler's?

And really, I would consider any of the jokes about Hitler or the like to be more of a coping mechanism of sorts for the world. We do it constantly... joking about death, clowns, things that go bump in the night. All because those things scare us so very much. Not to mention it does keep the event in our minds, and history is meant to be remembered and learned from. Not swept under the rug and treated as a curse to speak of.

Please, don't use the concentration camp excuse on me, either. It's a bit insulting towards survivors that you think you can understand the pain of having gone through something such as that.

When someone writes on their profile 'I am a supporter of what the Nazis did to the Jews during WWII and think it was really great and funny' I'll deny it for the pet spotlight. Many images invoke different things to different people, and we can't control impressions. The design of this profile is wonderful to me, and it has gotten people talking - not once has this user said anything or mentioned anything about supporting the Nazi movement. She has juxtaposed an image of a Nazi officer against a profile describing a German character that is described as any kind of normal man. What I find interesting about this is that by itself, the text is pretty average - but put it against a memory invoking image this character suddenly changes completely. It becomes hated, disgusting, bad taste etc. This is what interests me greatly. I don't think Nazis are being glorified at all here - I think pinto is showing that you can change the impression of someone immediately by connecting them with a certain movement/era.

The profile itself is not, in my opinion, offensive. Nor is the HA, the text or the treasure associated with the pet. Overall I think it is very well done. But I really do not find the usage of a photograph of Himmler to be in particularly good taste.

I do find glorifying hitler, making fun of religions ANY religions to be in poor taste (topic for a different time). In this case I may find certain parts of the content disturbing but that wont stop me from realizing it is a very nicely done layout and deserved to be nominated and win!

Soulmonkie get off your high horse. Were you in a concentration camp? I seriously doubt it. Nobody here is denying that what happened in them was horrible. I don't see this as anything worse than someone making their character out to be a serial killer. Your family IS NOT the only one who lost relatives in Germany. There happens to be staff members who likely voted on this pet that I know for a fact lost relatives in concentration camps. DEAL its the interwebz not rl.

The profile is very well done, and surely worth a spotlight. But a photograph of Heinrich Himmler? Himmler was one of the biggest Nazi criminals. And the swastika showing? I'm sure, , you can find another, less offensive picture of a military man to support Muntze's profile.

oFF, maybe your life was never affected by nazis, or nazism, or neonazis. mine was/is. and to people like me, it's obvious. perhaps others can gloss over the implications, but i can't and won't, and i know there are others here who feel the same way. he is meant to be a nazi, it's not hidden or cropped out. never once is there mention of the wrong that was done, etc. he's just a happy little nazi drinking cocoa, and everyone thinks it's cute. what happened during the holocaust is seen as cool by a lot of people, through direct prejudice or through the enjoyment of the 'glamour' of the uniforms and military aspects. i've seen someone's signature here on subeta with a 'cutified' version of hitler. i think that, too, is pathetic, and pathetic that things like that (and this spotlight) should be allowed at all. nothing will sway that belief. you would see things through a different lens if you'd have ever been in a concentration camp, i can assure you. the other pet spotlights, dealing with murder..that's talked about outright right there in the profile, and is upsetting to many (myself included- i do not find harming others to be amusing in any way). is there a way to spin those into not being what they seem, too?

Gee...some really nasty pets have been winning the spotlight. The last last thing I expected to see on a pet profile was a picture of a Nazi SS man. But it's very well put together, good job...I think.
