Hi all! This is just an update regarding the recent issues we've experienced (over the past 2 days). If you're not inclined to read on, you should just know that there's going to be a 2-hour downtime window tonight around 12:30 am for us to take a few backups.

So anyway, a couple of days ago one of our web servers suffered a small hard disk crash. This happened to be the web server that stores the site images, however, so it being suddenly unavailable caused some random problems to develop, including difficulty loading the site, images not loading, and avatar saving problems, etc.

Fortunately, we were able to restore from an images backup, and we were even able to recover some the data that had been "lost", so there was no long-term effect to the site at all.

I'm happy to say that in this case everything worked mostly as planned - we were able to move the images share to another server and run everything. We had a few hiccups with the aforementioned problems, and next time we'll know what to watch out for!

That said, tonight we will be taking the site offline to take another images backup. Our artists have been working hard lately, and we want to protect their updates!

The Subeta staff deserves real props for this, as they work so hard for everyone. =) I would give everybody cupcakes too, but since I'm in another country then all of you guys I can't. Hugs

I just can't say how awesome the Subeta Staff is. The site is running like, 472% better now than it was last year; every time there is an issue it is fixed almost immediately and is explained very well. If there is downtime, we are given plenty of notice. YOU GUYS ROCK!

I had wondered why the site was so unstable for a day or so .. glad to see that its sorted and thanks for the info (some sites would not admit to problems like this)

thank you for the heads up and i agree i have never found a site anywhere that care about their users like subeta.thank you for all the hard work and for all the time you put into making this site so addictive lol .hugs you all.

You know what I really love? The fact you guys are able to turn around and say things went wrong.

Don't underestimate for a second how much that little bit of information helps. I makes the world of difference.

I left many other sites because the staff couldn't take two seconds out of their day to say "yep, there are issues". But you guys give us more than that, you give us full explanations

Thabks so much for letting us know expected downtimes, unlike a certain site starting with an N that has lags and dontimes before you can expect it.

Thank you so much for letting us know. It's so nice to be on a site that keeps it's users updated. A lot of other sites don't bother, and they just make things worse by pretending that nothing bad is happening. Once again, thank you!
