Hi everyone! Just to let you know, there will be some downtime tonight (approximately 20 minutes or less) around 1-2 AM Subeta time.

We will be taking a snapshot of our main database server for a new backup system.

Is this the reason for certain Images and captcha codes suddenly not loading? Just curious, as I don't want to wind up kicking my computer unless I really have to.

Good luck with everything. I guess I could always get started on the dreaded Income Taxes during the down time. Oh what fun. >.<

Don't release any items until there (I can't trust the old backup system), but good news, I hope rollbacks won't happen anymore. Ever.

aciddragon: A snapshot is like a photograph... it's a frozen image of how something was at one point in time. Ordinarily Subeta's database is changing constantly as everyone plays on the site. This causes problems, since backups take time, because the database changes as we're trying to back it up.

So we turn off the site, and take a snapshot backup while no changes are being made. That way we get a complete copy of the database.
