Btw I love the name.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

People chill out it is a fantasy game and I am greatly offended that anybody would care. It has to be this way because some peoples cultures call it Kwanzaa and it would not be fair to have Kwanzaa or Christmas instead. As a fantasy game they implement fantasy ideas. Only in the west do we call it Christmas. And the Holiday has no Christian origin either.

I don't greet my friends with either. I'm all for them changing the name, though I think they could have changed the date at least a bit, made things different in more than just name, but I'm happy as is.

I must say that I am disappointed that it does not seem right to celebrate Christ's birth (Christmas), but have substituted it with Luminaire (whatever that is supposed to imply). We do not greet people and our friend with Happy Luminaire but with Happy Christmas.

I still fail to see how this solves anything... we've been trying to drive the point that not everyone celebrates Christmas, but here we can all celebrate Luminaire. But isn't it more than obvious already that Luminaire is just Christmas by another name? People are still going to be left out, as now we're not celebrating their holidays at all and are focusing more on the mainstream holidays, just under a different name. Just because we've renamed it doesn't make it something totally different. To take a quote: "Polish a turd, it's still a turd!"

If this happens for Fourth of July, and everyone's still just as satisfied with it as they are now, just because it will have become a "Subeta" holiday... agh. Put a new name on the Fourth all you want, it's still the stupid American holiday. We'll still be celebrating in red, white, and blue. A name change doesn't mask what it is at all, and I still can't understand why this is working.

I'm all for celebrating religious freedom and having diversity but I think the name changes are a little excessive. WTF. What happened to "subeta doesn't claim to be politically correct"? This is like political correctness at its best (or worst, if you opposite it like me).

Either way I'll have to deal with it. The staff here seem like they've already made up their mind.

so whats Channuka going to be called? How about Easter...St. Patricks Day? Valentines Day? Diwali? Not trying to be controversial but to eliminate the mainstream religiosity out of the Subetan holidays in fairness all holidays that are celebrated for a religious reason (or have some religious attribute to them) should be changed to reflect it. Just my thought about Bunnies and Eggs day, sweetheart day, green clover day, 8 candles day, and put a light in the window day...XD

At this rate, I think that no one on Subeta's going to be celebrating the 4th of July at all.

Hm, I wonder what will become of all those 4th of July items...?

I like the idea of celebrating Luminaire. They are taking the mainstream religion out of it and making it applicable to all Suebtans. Luminaire even sounds pretty.

YOU celebrate Christmas. Not everyone does. Sigh. People politicize everything. Subeta is a fantasy land, people. Look what our 'human' avatars are wearing. I bet 99% of the time it's not anywhere close to what we wear in our everyday lives. I don't have ice hair and carry a pet rat on my head. But I can here. So here we have a fake holiday with a pretty name where we can escape the real world and celebrate and dress up and throw virtual presents at strangers. Get over it.

Lumineve is a pretty name. I have nothing against changing the holiday names, doesn't matter. But I still want Subeta to kind of have a connection with the real world that other pet sites don't.. if you know what I mean. For example the for/against bush pins. =P

Lumineve is very pretty, I think. I'm glad we're going with new names; it doesn't leave anybody feeling left out because of religious affiliations. Also, thank you to my wonderful partner last night--I know we only exchanged a few gifts, but I loved everything you gave me!

This is fun. I'm really enjoying all the new holiday names around here.

Yay, I have been looking forward to this I like this holiday's name. At first, I didn't care for the name change of the holidays. But now, I think it is okay. This works out, since everyone has different forms of Holidays (like Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa...) So, I think it is worth it that Subeta has its own winter holiday And love the items that we got today.

Guys, come on. This is an awesome way to celebrate holidays. Now nobody can be upset about a lack or surplus of items celebrating one holiday when theirs isn't being as widely celebrated. Some people celebrate Christmas, some Hannukah, some Kwanza. But on Subeta? Everyone celebrates Luminaire.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by minno150
User Avatar

o.0 Uh... sure, not everyone's Christian, but Luminaire is still Christmas and celebrated exactly the same, so I don't see how this solves anything.

I personally find the new names annoying, as they're either hard to pronounce or just hard to look at. And the fact that we're setting up Subeta with it's "own" holidays pretty much means we won't be celebrating random holidays anymore, doesn't it? Now that we're severing our connection with the real world, it seems we won't be getting the little fun things associated with it.

I feel sooo bad. I can't possibly match the gifts my gift partner sends me. But i am so thankful for all i have received. And people it's the thought that counts not the price of the gift. Some people never ever receive gifts from anyone.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

Not everyone on this site is Christian so I think it's fair Subeta make up their own holiday names and that we appreciate the free gifts they've given us.

I also think since Subeta is a fictional place, it makes it more fun to have fictional holiday names
