Hello everyone! We'll be taking the site offline in approximately 2 hours (4:30 pm subeta time) to migrate our database to our secondary database server, in preparation for some improvements to the main database server that will be taking place later this evening. Estimated downtime (barring any interference from that pesky Murphy and his Law) is around 15-20 minutes.

Rather than wait until tonight (which would push the upgrade back until tomorrow sometime) I decided to do it now, before 5pm when people start getting off work. I'm hoping this time won't be any more inconvenient than midnight - correct me if I'm wrong!

The actual upgrade is rather esoteric - we're moving our operating system install on the server from one drive to another. This will free up a lot of space on the "fast" drive that our database files are stored on. The recent downtime was caused by this "fast" drive filling up completely, thus, more space will make it easier for us to catch it nearly full and fix the problem before it overflows.

As always, thanks for your patience and understanding.

Since we were KIND of asked.... 5pm downtime isn't too bad. That's when I'm getting off work. (I access a LOT from work) (hehe), then some when I get home. But I'm never on at midnight unless it were a Saturday or something. It's very awesome that you take users into consideration! Thanks!

It was better it was down earlier rather than later. I usually stay up late and come on Subeta and then sometimes its down. 3-9pm would be a bad time to take it down for me but Im not sure about other time zones and other people

Great timing! I'll be leaving for work then. I'm more down for it being down now, than midnight. We always seem to get gypped with our quests if you take it down and midnight. Thanks for the heads up!!

Well either at midnight or at five it doesn't matter to me. I won't be here today at five nor will I be on at midnight.
