Hi all! Hope you had a fantastic Pete day.
We will be taking Subeta offline for a brief period around 12 midnight, Subeta time (that's in approximately 2 hours) to complete the repairs on our database system. Estimated downtime (though that crafty Murphy has blown our estimates out of the water lately) is no more than 20 minutes, and probably a lot shorter.
What's happening: Last night sometime, several things happened: we identified a configuration problem with our main database server, which was making Subeta exceptionally slow and unstable. We also became aware of a hardware problem with both of our database servers: a particular component was inadequate and needed upgrading. Last night we moved the site to our secondary database server (fixing the config issue which fixed the site's stability and speeds) while the primary server's hardware was upgraded.
Earlier today, we moved the site back to the newly improved primary server so that our secondary server could be upgraded as well. Now that that's complete, we need to take the site down briefly while we synchronize the two servers. Once this is done, our secondary server will become a mirror of the main server, so if anything happens we can immediately switch to the backup without extensive downtime (like we switched to it last night.)
As always, thanks for your patience and support, and wish us luck!
the info is greatly appreciated however Subeta is still running agonizingly slowly for me
